Blueblood Vampires #3

Forgotten Heir

Rate this book
Have you ever heard of the curse of the middle child? It’s real, and it makes you invisible. Growing up in a house with three headstrong witches, I was usually stuck playing the mediator.

When I met Rikkon, I immediately felt a kinship to him. He wasn’t invisible like me, but in a sense, he was forgotten. We bonded over things we couldn’t control. He was struggling with his demons, and I was lost.

It was easy to fall in love, but that was when things got complicated. When I thought we could be more than friends, Rikkon’s past came to rip my hopes to shreds. He recovered his memories, and with it, the knowledge that he was never free to be mine. Someone else had staked a claim, a bond so strong, that no mortal human could break.

Foolishly, I made a vow to help Rikkon reunite with his true mate, not realizing that by doing so, I might have unleashed the wrath of Ellnesari in our world.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☹️🙃☺️😀
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Rikkon - He is the brother of Vivi from Dark Prince. They are Nightingales and the children of the Nightingale Queen Maeve, who banished them from Ellnesare and took their powers away. Rikkon was in constant pain and turned to drugs to dull the pain. His and Vivi’s memories of being Nightingales (which seem similar to fae, and created the vampires), had been removed by a spell.

The heroine: Miranda - She is the younger sister of Aurora from Wild Thing and is the middle child of her family, often ignored and underestimated. She has always been the good girl, who has only rebelled in small ways, though she has been starting to do it more often and she wants to put a hex on the man Aurora was forced to get engaged to, she has to sneak out and go to the night market to get an ingredient.

The Story: Miranda and Rikkon meet at the night market and feel an immediate connection. Rikkon can’t forget Miranda and seeks her out more and more, but his memories of his past have been taken away, and when he finally gets them back, he realizes that the source of his pain all these years has been the fact that he had a fated mate in Ellnesare and when he was separated from her and his powers, he started to go crazy.

Rikkon knows that he has to get back to Ellnesare and to his fated mate, not because he wants to, but because he has to make his mother and the other Nightingales return to Earth because the first generation vampires have all been going mad since the Nightingales left, returning to their own realm. Miranda is determined to help him get to Ellnesare so he can be with his mate and the pain he has been feeling will finally end.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Troy Duran and Mindy Kennedy whom I really enjoy listening to. Troy is my all time favorite narrator and has a deep sexy voice, while Mindy has a youthful feminine voice which matches the 18 year old witch, Miranda perfectly.

I really like how Michelle Hercules starts these books during the end of the timeline of the previous book. It serves the dual purpose of showing the events of previous book in case the reader forgets some of the prior book, but also gives a new perspective of the same scenes. Since in the prior book, was in the POV of the main characters in that book, but in this book those ending scenes are told in Rikkon and Mir’s points of view.

The story in this one was very good. I liked learning more about Rikkon and the Nightingales, and Miranda is a great character who laments the fact that everyone seems to overlook and underestimate her, but turns out to be the strongest witch in her family.

I read the first book last year then moved on, but then I saw this come across my feed, and the potential OW drama caught my eye. I LOVE OW drama, I don’t necessarily like the cheating especially in PNR, but a meddling wannabe OW can generate loads of drama. I quickly re-read Dark Prince, but in case you haven’t… here’re the cliff notes. Vivienne tried to steal a necklace from Lucca to save her drug addict brother, Rikkon. We later learned that they were the heirs of the Nightingale throne, and had been exiled/lost powers when their evil mom got mad because Viv wanted to save the vampires. Rikkon was miserable, and obtained a spell to take their memories. At the end of book 1- Vivi got hers back, but Rik is still in the dark. Some outline spoilers ahead…

The book opens with an unhappy Rik becoming friends with Miranda who is the sis of book 2’s h. Mir decides she’s going to help him get his memories back which takes until about 25%, that is when we find out he has a soulmate, Eriel. After that (for me) the plot started to drag a smidge because, being honest, I only read this for the OW drama. It takes us almost halfway for them to get to Ellnesari where things picked up. All this time, the couple's attracted to each other, but he’s still committed to marrying Eriel. Then around 55% things pick up, and the last ½ is quite good because Mir finally turns 18, so we can move into romantic feelings, and the OW comes to town.

Bottom Line- The first half was slow going for me, but I enjoyed the second half. The OW drama was good, but it’s not really angsty. We are privy to Rik’s thoughts so we know where his head is at, and how much his actions are the bond forcing things. As far as safety, the bond compels him to return a few passionate kisses almost all in front of the h, and he calls her love (again bond) ...there’re a few instances of touching and one close-ish call. He’s always fighting the bond which helps, and the OW can’t know of his true feelings or she’d kill h. If you want specific details, you can message me. :)

so much fantasy and so little romance!

i know this is a fantasy paranormal romance, but i just want the romance part, so all the fantasy parts fly through me.
Rikon is mated to this princess but he loves Miranda, that's the plot (at least the romance part).

3.5 - Almost As Good as Dark Prince - Stars

This is the third book in the Blueblood Vampires series by Michelle Hercules. While this one isn't actually about vampires it continues the story of the vampires and the Ellensari that started in the first book. The hero is the sister of Vivi, the heroine in the first book. He is the prince of Ellensari.

In this book, Rikkon and Miranda are immediately drawn together but Rikkon is bonded to a princess from his home realm. However, that doesn't stop the two of them from falling in love. Mir is 17 at the beginning of the book but nothing fully happens between them until she turns 18. However, she seemed older because of the paranormal aspect of the book.

I enjoyed this book and loved the journey with Rik and Mir. This book takes them from the human realm back into Ellensari where Rik is, against his will, drawn to his bonded female, Eleri. While there is kissing of his bonded mate, Rik fights against it, because he is deeply in love with Mir. This didn't really bother me because I could see how strongly he feels about Mir. (I mention this in case some may be bothered by him kissing and desiring another woman - but he never sleeps with her and fights it every chance he gets because of his love for Mir).

These two are very sweet together. There is even a fave trope of mine where one of the MC's almost dies (twice, in fact). While it wasn't as intense as in Dark Prince it was still good.

I do like this series but not sure if I'll read the next book. It is about Manu, Luca's sister (from Dark Prince) and I disliked her in his book and didn't like her any better in this book. Also, she is quite free with her body and well, not my fave type of heroine, but mostly because I didn't like her.

Anyway, a pretty good book and an enjoyable series. I really do want to see how everything resolves so I may need suck it up and read the other upcoming books in this series. :)

Rikkon and Miranda will absolutely devastate you in the most beautiful ways! Their connection from the beginning is palpable but forbidden! Their journey is one of my favorites in the series so far and I enjoyed seeing them fight the odds and finding their way!

With each book in this interconnected series we get more and more of the back story and what’s to come but we get close ups of different characters! Forgotten Heir is Rikkon’s and Miranda’s story! Both are shadows compared to their siblings but what no one knows is both are stronger and more important than anyone ever knew! More secrets are revealed and truths come to light but in that the deep attraction these two have must find a way to beat all the odds!

Expect the unexpected in this book because there are juicy twists and turns along the way that will leave you speechless!

Super Exciting!

This third instalment in the series had me on the edge of my seat! Rikkon is a highly sympathetic character and Miranda is a surprise! Venturing into Viv and Rik’s homeland was so interesting and I want to see more from some of the characters there too!

OH my stars! I have been intrigued with Rikkon since the start and what we get is something so intense and mind blowing that I could not put the book down once I started! The connection felt between him and Miranda was so intense but once things implode, Miranda cannot walk away and neither can Rikkon. With every little twist and turn, you are taken on this ride with so many jaw dropping moments that I was just in awe. This series really has ramped up and I cannot get enough!
This is one of the books and honestly, the whole series that needs to be read. It is unique and spellbinding and I never wanted it to end. Between the concept, the fluidity of the story and these epic and passionate characters, Forgotten Heir is an epic tale and leaves you wanting!

This book was gross. I don’t care that he met her when he couldn’t remember how old he was he still thought he was a 20 something. SHE WAS 17 for the majority of the book

I’ve been intrigued by Aurora’s little sister Miranda since she was introduced. I knew her and Rikkon’s story will be epic! And boy it hadn’t disappointed!
Rikkon is a well known drug addiction who has lost his memory and with Miranda’s help they embark on a dangerous journey to recover them. With that a lot of angst, drama, spurned fated mate and family loyalty all play in this chapter of the series
You won’t be disappointed with this book and am already wondering about the other Leal sister and how her story will unfold
This book is well written and definitely won’t be lost on my kindle

Forgotten Heir

Miranda and Rikkons story. I like it. Idk why I wasn’t expecting them to be together. They kind of just went from friends to partners to lovers. A bulk of the book consisted of Mir trying to help Rikkon find a way back. Then when they get back to his home Rikkon has to fight the bonds and political intrigue. I really enjoyed this book and the the audiobook made it even better. There was minimal spice but that’s okay the story was worth it.

Okay, this one was really hard to read. I DNFed with about 30 minutes left on the audiobook because I accidentally slept through it and just really couldn’t bring myself to rewind and do it again. The whole first half of the book is just a repeat of the last book being summed up for 6 hours with some 20-something-year-old-man-on-seventeen-year-old flirting. I for the life of me can’t figure out why these people like each other, and Miranda’s personality is just a carbon copy of her sister Aurora with middle child syndrome. This book had way too many pop culture references (they mentioned Harry Potter probably 4 times, including telling an all powerful immortal being that they’re like Ron Weasley which was incredibly cringey, and actually compared someone to Elsa from frozen) but thankfully had less cringey dialogue than Aurora and Saxon’s book. But honestly, wasting my time for the first half of the book and never even addressing the obscene age gap is absolutely not worth the read. Especially with the way they characterize Miranda when she’s interacting with Rickon, like she seems so naive and young. My heart hurt listening to their flirting scenes imagining myself as a little baby 17 year old with a 24 or 25 year old immortal man waiting for me outside my high school and it just made me sick. I wasn’t rooting for them at all.

So I really like how the overall backstory/plot (whatever in the background behind each love interest) is progressing. This book definitely had the angst I love, but unfortunately it did have one issue I kept getting hung up on. Mira for a decent amount of the book is 17, while Rikkon assumes hes 20. Yes that’s not that big of an age gap. But things were getting hot before she was aware she was 18 (sorry for the tiny spoiler). I know, I know it’s only a few weeks. I keep thinking is it really a big deal? No. If it had been fade to black, or both 17, him freshly turned 18? No I wouldnt care. BUT thats not quite the case. So to me it just gave me the ick as a mom. Even at 18 in my head Im either mentally aging them up or completely removing my “mom” mentality, and have to put myself back in a younger headspace. Now let me say that is a ME problem, this in no way reflects on the book. Now BESIDES that I did enjoy the story. I loved the betrayals, and the magic. This books is even more complex than book 2! I swear the books are just growing better, and more complex with each one. I love that.

This Paranormal Romance is book 3 in the Bluebloods Vampire series. The romance in this book is a forbidden romance. There is spice in this book, and the spice is descriptive. The book moves at a steady pace following Miranda, and Rikkon as their pull to one another grows stronger while they are working together. Their plans take a turn when things lead Miranda and Rikkon face to face with his past, and everything that comes with it. Even with Mirandas heart in taters, she will work to save Rikkon in whatever way that means. This book was an action packed, and angsty read.

Yessssssss.

This series is building with each new book and couple and I am here for it! Because good grief, Miranda and Rikkon were angsty and hot AF. The push/pull, the forbidden vibe, the jealousy, the possessiveness was all FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC. I couldn't put this one down.

Let me say the plot about the Nightingales is still building. We get a LOT more information during this book and so many truths are revealed. That definitely made me love this book more...finally getting answers. The first half of the book seems a bit slow but then it takes off and never quits.

Mir and Rik. Y'all. I LOVED them both. I felt their pull, their turmoil, their pain. It killed me having to witness the pull of the bond while two souls fight for each other. So amazing. And so damn steamy. Woo. 🥵

And that little blip at the end about our next couple?? 😭 NEED. IT.

What do you do when two worlds and fated mates stand in the way of your true love??

You fight against fate, family, deception and everything inbetween.

This is not just a paranormal romance, this is heartbreak on a knife edge. It's about a connection stronger then fates perfection, its agony and unadulterated extacy combined and utterly forbidden.

I love how Michelle brings so much more then just love to this book, the 3rd in the BlueBloods series.

Rik goes through a complete character redemption arc, if you've read Lucas’s and Vivi's story you'll see the exponential growth in him however its not just based on how he was in the human world but also from who he was before he was banished. Without this povitol growth he would never have been worthy of Mir!

This book for Mir isn't just about love, faith and devotion, its about self discovery, belief and sacrifice. She becomes so much more then just a 2nd born witch and I loved her journey!

I was there with them every step of the way, this is another amazing fantasy adventure by Michelle I can't wait to read Manu's story next

I have been instrigued with Rikkon since we first met him in Dark Prince and in Wild Thing, we see the attraction between him & Miranda. So with Forgotten Heir, we get to know more about the Nightingale Prince's background and see him on a mission with Miranda to regain his memories. Expect some twists & turns, b/c their journey wont be so easy.

We get a LOT more information during this book and so many truths are revealed....finally getting answers! I cant wait to see what Michelle has in store for us next.

Rikkon & Miranda turn and it was well worth the wait. Rikkon I didn't like him at the beginning then I read Wild Thing that gave us more explanation why he is the why he is.

Now Forgotten Heir I just want to hug him and we learn why he went to drugs & alcohol cause the visions &....no spoilers We learn everything how he lost his memory and his Fated mate that was mention in Wild Thing. At the end of the day he is a great brother and he sacrifice soo much and I don't want him to lose Miranda

Finally we learn bou Mir who just wants to be treated seriously by everyone & Rik sees all of her magic and all. I love their bound so much and their journey...WOW

What I truely love is we learn more about the Nightingales and how powerful they are & their enemies...no spoilers

THIS BOOK!! Omg. I couldn’t put it down.

This author has a way with words that just draws you in and gets you addicted to her storyline to the point it makes it almost heartbreaking to have to put down the book without finishing it if you haven't done so in one reading. Forgotten Heir is Rikkon’s and Miranda’s story and it made me fall head over heels for them.
The action was phenomenal. I defy anyone to read this and to not fall in love with these characters.

A flaming fun-filled action ride that left me wanting more. I love how the story developed and I never knew for certain what was going to happen next.

An extraordinarily compelling page-turner!

The third installment in this saga centers around Rikkon and Miranda. As the book unravels you start piecing together why Rikkon lost his and his sister’s memories along with why the pain of his ability turned him to drugs. During his journey you embrace Miranda and all of her spunk. The true middle child who everyone ignores or doesn’t take worthy. She may be the strongest of them yet. Miranda will stop at nothing to free Rikkon from his obligations even if it means sacrificing herself. And dear Rikkon no matter how much pain will fight his obligations to follow his heart. You feel for both characters as they face different challenges and your heart breaks as their journey progresses. Leaves off for another story with Manu taking center stage.

Ric and Miranda seem like an unlikely pair, she’s the weakest in her family and he’s a junkie. But when he gets pulled back to his world and gains his power back, he quickly realizes he’s not as weak as he thought he was. The queen Bones Miranda‘s fate to his and tricks her into thinking that she doesn’t complete the mission she’s given them ric will die.

The story has a ton of twists and turns and it’s pretty action packed. So the pace keeps moving along fairly quickly. This wasn’t my favorite book in the series, but the story was still really good.

The king throws in an unexpected twist at the end and so does Manu.

Definitely worth it Read.

I don’t know what it is about Miranda, but from the very beginning, I really liked her with Rikon. The way that their relationship started the friendship the draw that he had for her his whole personality as a damaged human was just amazing. It was adorable. It was just such a good read and then once they got pulled into Rick home and had to deal with his crazy family and his mate. I just got better.

Michelle cannot NOT write an amazing page-turner. I absolutely LOVED finding out more about Rikkon and getting his side of the story. Miranda gets greatly underestimated by everyone besides Rikkon, and their story is as heartbreaking at times as it is steamy (not giving any spoilers). A definite must-read for any fans of the PNR romance genre.

Not great

I'll start by saying that I enjoyed the previous books in this series, and was looking forward to Rikkons story. I'm quite disappointed, this book was not what I was expecting. Barring like two pages, it reads more like a young adult novel and doesn't have the same vibe as the first two books. The relationship between main characters is awkward and I didn't feel like they actually ever connected.
Could it be because Miranda is actually the 'other woman' playing homewrecker? I can't say I've ever read a romance where the female lead was actually the mistress trying to break a real mate bond, probably because it's distasteful AF. What kind of heroine agrees to murder someone when she's been given no evidence that they're bad? The queen only said that Rikkon would be in danger if the bond wasn't broken, so they all jump immediately to murder? Seems like something the villain would do. Arguably, Eriul isn't exactly a nice person, but she didn't present as an evil person until after Miranda tried to kill her.
Or maybe it's because Miranda's character gave the impression of an immature, angsty teenager (which she actually is) and that made her "romance" with Rikkon just seem creepy and disjointed. Then we've got the Queen, who only ever refers to Miranda as "my child". On top of being uber condescending and irritating, it only reinforces the feeling that Miranda is very young. At odds with all of that is the language used in the conversations, words like 'perish', phrases like 'how can this be', and the authors refusal to use contractions, that give it a real weird Shakespearean vibe. It felt like I was reading bad high school drama - messed up paranormal Romeo and Juliet meets high school musical, and not in a good way.
There are also inconsistencies in the timelines between books. In the first book, we're told Lucca is roughly 500 years old and that Vivi and Rikkon were banished after Lucca was cursed. In the second book, Saxon hints that he's about 600 years old, but is younger than Lucca...? Doesn't match up with the first. Then in this book, Miranda asserts that Rikkon lived, banished, in the human world for almost 1000 years. Again, doesn't match up if Lucca is only 500 years old. It's a knit pick, but it should be easy to be consistent across only three books.

Side rant: what is with romance authors and references to fricken lips? "A smirk titled his lips", well no sh*t, I wouldn't expect his toes to be smirking; "I brought the coffee to my lips", again no sh*t, you don't pour coffee in your ears; just on and on like that. Don't even get me started on how often people are biting or licking their lips. PSA to romance authors: for the love of God please stop referring to lips at every possible opportunity, it's overdone and cheesey.
