I’ve always had a ton of bad habits. Biting my nails, gluing my eyes to my phone, making bad decisions, loving men I can never actually have. The last one is the worst. It’s the one I can’t shake. My need for revenge lead me to my greatest weakness. I became dependent on his love. Addicted to it. It hurt me but also made me better. I was his secret and he was mine. Then you showed up, and your bitter reminder couldn’t be chased away by the sweet kisses of forbidden lips. I was never your secret, but you were always mine. I wanted to forget about you, but maybe I wasn’t supposed to.

Loved this one!

This book was not at all what I expected! No spoilers - but it is so much more than Jossilyn and Geo’s story. Just like in Between Us (definitely read the first book!), there are things going on with the other characters. Jossilyn is troubled, searching for her way in life and getting caught up in situations that aren’t healthy. Her character is so realistic and raw, she kept me up till 3am because you just need to know that this girl is okay! It’s a great book about, second chances, finding yourself, growing up and realIzing how much our childhood shapes us. Can’t wait for the next book!

“I was always overly sheltered, too naive for my own good. I trusted anyone who smiled at me, and even the ones who didn’t”.

This is Joselyn’s story, Trent’s sister from the previous book and I never imagine she was going to end up like that. In the surface she was a good girl that didn’t go out much because their mother treated her like a little girl, so this book shows us a different side of her and how she tried to cope with her feelings and everything she was going through.

Joselyn always had a crush on Gio, one of his brother’s best friend but he never looked at her differently at school so she always had to hide her feelings for him. I understood why she wanted to be loved so she made poor choices in love. Her dad left when she was a little girl and her brother had a family now, so she didn’t want to bother him with her problems and that only made her dependent on the one person she thought loved her, even though they never had a real chance. At least Gio started showing up for her and helping her get better. Little by little they started realizing their true feelings for each other and I’m glad Gio was the one helping her understand why she deserved better.

From the previous book we didn’t know much about Gio’s feelings or thoughts or how everything evolved between them, so here we understand more about his relationship with his friends and his feelings for Joselyn. I loved how he tried to help her and distract her from her problems so she didn’t continue destroying her life with strangers.

This was my second book by the author and I’m really loving this series. I loved reading about Trenton and Aubree and now I can’t wait to read Diesel and Chloe’s story and see what happens between them.
