Welcome to the jungle…Jarryd and Hamisi, the first recruit to the Knights of Dragonwatch, emerge from the underground river and find themselves in the brutal jungle kingdom of Droth’alin. When they unknowingly break the law, they are captured and sold as slaves.

Jarryd is sent to the gladiator pits, there to fight for the honor and standing of House Asfour. It is not long before he discovers his next recruit is also enslaved there, Kathor, a fierce warrior captured in the wars.

There is only one problem.

He and Kathor must fight to the death.

The Dragon Queen of Chaos is the third series in the Chaos Legacy, following Immortality and Chaos (I) and Chaos and Retribution (II).

Born in 1965, I grew up on a working cattle ranch in the desert thirty miles from Wickenburg, Arizona, which at that time was exactly the middle of nowhere. Work, cactus and heat were plentiful, forms of recreation were not. The TV got two channels when it wanted to, and only in the evening after someone hand cranked the balky diesel generator to life. All of which meant that my primary form of escape was reading.

At 18 I fled to Tucson where I attended the University of Arizona. A number of fruitless attempts at productive majors followed, none of which stuck. Discovering I liked writing, I tried journalism two separate times, but had to drop it when I realized that I had no intention of conducting interviews with actual people but preferred simply making them up.

After graduating with a degree in Creative Writing in 1989, I backpacked Europe with a friend and caught the travel bug. With no meaningful job prospects, I hitchhiked around the U.S. for a while then went back to school to learn to be a high school English teacher. I got a teaching job right out of school in the middle of the year. The job lasted exactly one semester, or until I received my summer pay and realized I actually had money to continue backpacking.

The next stop was Australia, where I hoped to spend six months, working wherever I could, then a few months in New Zealand and the South Pacific. However, my plans changed irrevocably when I met a lovely Swiss woman, Claudia, in Alice Springs. Undoubtedly swept away by my lack of a job or real future, she agreed to allow me to follow her back to Switzerland where, a few months later, she gave up her job to continue traveling with me. Over the next couple years we backpacked the U.S., Eastern Europe and Australia/New Zealand, before marrying and settling in the mountains of Colorado, in a small town called Salida.

In Colorado we starved and froze, started our own electronics business, and had a couple of sons, Dylan and Daniel. In 2005 we shut the business down and moved back to Tucson.

I am currently working on finishing The Devastation Wars fantasy series and attending graduate school.

Wow this series is growing from strength to strength I think, in the same way that Jarryd’s character is maturing, and in this book which turns quite dark at times, Jarryd goes through so much it’s as though he is being forged through fire. He and Hamisi, the princes he had helped to escape from the Buttes travel through an underground lake and exit far from where they had started out, they encounter dangers they had not anticipated both whilst travelling through the jungle and when they come across a cult group. But things though difficult just continue to get worse for them as they travel in unknown terrain, and come across customs which they are not used to back home. They become enslaved and Jarryd ends up imprisoned as a gladiator to fight in the pits of the arena for his new owner. Poor Jarryd is tested to the extreme both physically but most especially morally as he feels he is betraying all he ever stood for as a Knight. Hamisi on the other hand is her usual self, her temper and short fuse are something to beware of, nothing and no one can keep her enslaved. I just love her kick ass character which takes no bs from anyone. She pushes Jarryd to become better than he is by taunting him all the time, but I think that they balance each other out. I really believe that one is at the right place, in the right time and in this books we see how true this is for Jarryd and his quest, who would have thought? I found myself reading with my heart in my throat for a lot of the experiences Jarryd goes through in the evil land of Droth’alin. There is quite a good surprise ending to the book which made me wish I had book 4 in my hands to go on reading further into this gripping dark tale which has become more interesting the darker it got.

The quest continues!

Jarryd continues as he searches for more recruits to fulfill his dream to resurrect the Knights. The task is becoming more difficult as he searches. The danger is everywhere. Mighty arena fights between gladiators, new friendships and new enemies. All the while the emperor still hunts Jarryd. This is book three of the series, and so exciting! Again the author kept me enthralled in this story. I can't get enough. I can't wait for the next book.

Can't stop Readin

Jarryd is a DragonWatch Knight. He goes from the Fire to the frying pan, time and time again. He's looking for more Knights to help him. There are no end to the cliffhangers.

Great series

This followed the first books very well. It didn't leave you wondering how they go to the next battle. It would probably be best for older teens and adults. The characters are realistic and yet heroic.

Excellent!

Saving a princes sometimes isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. And Jarryd and Hamisi may have gotten out of the frying pan, but they landed in the fire. Lots of action & adventure and many interesting new characters. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat! Can’t wait for Jarryd to find his next recruit.
