He was a vision of power and privilege. Ruthless arrogance personified. A total stranger and an irresistible challenge.
I approached him in a busy casino and felt the sting of his brutal rejection. Then I did something incredibly brazen. Impulsive. Reckless.
I stole from him.
The object was inconsequential, only worth a handful of dollars. I didn’t do it for the money; it was about making a statement.
I went back home thousands of miles away without giving him a second thought until I spotted those quicksilver eyes glaring at me across a busy nightclub.
It was too impossible to be a coincidence. Yet, there he was, seething with a violent promise of retribution.
He thought he’d intimidate me. Hunt me down and make me pay. What he didn’t realize was I don’t scare easily.
My name is Giada Genovese, and I’m a goddamn mafia princess.
**Impossible Odds is the fourth book in The Five Families series but can be read as a standalone novel. This book is a mafia romance containing adult themes and may not be suitable for sensitive readers.
Jill is a Texan, born and raised. She manages the hectic social calendars for her three active children and occasionally spends an evening with her dashing husband. Aside from being an author and a mom, she's a travel junkie and loves to read when she is not lost in her own stories.
With Jill’s books, you can count on confident heroines, plenty of steamy tension, and deliciously assertive leading men. There are no guarantees in life, but with her books, you know everything will work out in the end. However, a perfect ending would not be nearly as satisfying without a seemingly insurmountable challenge. Jill loves to add plenty of adversity in her stories, creating unforgettably dynamic characters and sneaky plot twists you will never see coming.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: ❤️💙💜💛 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📔📙 World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌎 Character development: 👤👤👤👤
The setting: Las Vegas, New Jersey and the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico
The Hero(s): Primo – He works for Naz, the Cartel Kingpin who took him in and raised him after finding him on the streets when he was about twelve. His mother died in a fire when he was ten and he lived on the streets for a few years before Naz found him. He sees Naz as a sort of father figure and if grateful to him.
The heroine: Giada – she is the daughter of a Mafia man and cousin to Maria from the last book in this series. Maria and her sisters (one of which is Alessia) are best friends as well as cousins to Giada and their father Enzo is the Capo. Giada’s father works for Enzo. Giada was raised in what she thought was a normal, very catholic upper middle class home and she only found out her father and uncle were in the mafia a few years back.
The Love Story: Both Giada and Primo are in a Las Vegas night club when they meet. He turns her down when she shows interest, so she steals from him and he tracks her down after she returns home.
The author, Jill Ramsower, is a great storyteller, I really enjoyed Maria and Matteo’s story and this one was good as well. The world building is terrific and I like the fact that all the background story doesn’t take up the greater part of the book. The characters are well developed and thought out and though there are quite a few supporting characters and situations (some from prior books), it is all told in a way that you don’t feel like you are missing anything if you read this as a stand-alone.
Also, the cross-over people and events don’t need a whole lot of background information that gets in the way of this story. There are just some touch points that fit in well with Primo and Giada’s story. I like the way Jill Ramsower builds up romantic tension and heat between the two main characters, so you can see the give and pull between them as well as the conflicts involved in being together.
I tend to like a bit more steam in the intimate scenes, but I am aware that some people like books that aren’t as erotically explicit as other. Not that there weren’t any steamy lovemaking scenes. They definitely had some heat and I loved not having to wait till the last quarter of the book for Primo and Giada to act on their feelings.
It just seemed to me that it was more of a wham bam thank you mam, than I tend to like. I think the intimate scenes were all less than one page from start to finish (though I could be wrong). The story was great though and I would give this one 4.25 stars overall. Though if I didn’t want more detail in the intimate scenes I would probably give it a 5.
I really liked Giada and Primo. Giada at first seemed to be a bit like a spoiled socialite. However, as the story went on she showed she was smart, unselfish and fun. Primo was a bit broody but I love that and he was a nice guy. There were a few surprises as well that I really liked. I love it when you get both the Hero and heroine point of view but you don’t know everything so they can do things you don’t expect.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
'Impossible odds' is the fourth book of the 'Five Families' series by Jill Ramsower. Told in dual Perspectives , this book was equal parts kinky and suspenseful!
I have always been a fan of this Author's books and this series of her is my absolute top favourite! This book can be read as a standalone but it features the same characters as the whole series and I suggest that you read the whole series for a better experience. The author does not hold back and if you are a fan of mafia Romance then this book is something you shouldn't miss!
Primo works for Naz. He has never questioned his life until he meets the spitfire at the bar. The one who was bold enough to make a move at him and then steal from him in the same night. He might not know her name but there is no way he is letting her go now. Her theft might not be big , but he wasn't a man you crossed. It's time his little thief pays for her crimes.
Giada has always had an easy life. That is what it looked from the outside. Stealing small things from strangers is just a habit to have fun. What she didn't expect was to get caught. Now the ruthless man she saw at the club is after her and there is no way he is letting her go. There is a part of her that enjoys his brand of punishment and might just want more. Before she knows she is stuck between a war much bigger than what she had anticipated. You see , primo has his own secrets. The ones that have the capability of destroying Giada. And destroy her he does.
This book was full of twists and turns and I loved the hell out of it! The ending was amazing and so was the storyline. Primo and Giada were perfect for each other and their chemistry was hot off the charts! A definite recommendation to all the dark Romance lovers out there!
Eh, just okay. The pacing and development from their relationship to the plot was all really off. They had a short conversation their first meeting, no convo really the second meeting but he fingers her, then the third meet was sex, the fourth a couple short sentences, the fifth she decides to go out of the country with him to his home, essentially falling into a trap because of her impulsiveness and stupidity. Then we get some back and forth, and around 60% of course we have to have a scene where the hero almost bangs a stripper to apparently get the heroine out of his head, but oh how so romantic it is that he couldn't get it up🙄 and this is after the heroine and hero have already had sex and have feelings. Another short convo later and she's so in love with him and how devoted he is to her (except 2 nights earlier he was abt to bang someone else so that makes sense). Some anti-climatic plot stuff happens, and that's pretty much the whole book. Nothing too interesting or unique, and I'm not too sure why I'm still reading this series tbh seeing as I've only liked the first book, but I do doubt I will read the next one since I just don't care for those characters.
Overall, easy read. It wasn't really boring but it was short. Not a relationship or characters I would root for either, and the climax was super anti-climatic. I think this may be the end of the road for me here since I'm not really enjoying these anymore and I still can't get out of my head how disappointing Matteo's book was.
Safety:
No Virgins
No manhos??
No OM drama/No OW drama except for the stripper scene
Both are only with each other after meeting.

After following the Genovese sisters, we now get the story of their cousin, the independant and strong-willed Giada. And it’s one hell of a story.
She’s living her life as she wants, apart from her family, a black sheep of sort. Appears Primo, a mysterious stranger who’s going to change everything. There’s an instant connection and it’s explosive. It’s heat and heart rolled into one.
I enjoyed both aspects of the story: the passionate romance, and the mafia part. They were both thrilling and kept me on the edge of my seat. As often with mafia stories, it was all about family–too present or lacking, by blood or not, toxic or supporting.
If you’re looking for extra swoony and steamy with a side of violence and danger, that’s the book you want to read.
Quickie
- Series: The five families #4 (but they can be read as standalone) - Hashtags: #mafia romance #instalove - Triggers: domestic abuse, attempted assault, violence and death - Main couple: Giada Genovese & Primo - Hotness: 5/5 - Romance: 4/5 - + the chemistry, the passion, wow! - – they’re quick to accept Primo, I think… also, double standards much?
EDIT: I listened to the audiobook, and it was great! The story was still fresh in my mind, and yet I felt like I re-discovered it. It was intense, sexy, and the accents gave a lot more life to the characters. The narrators did a great job to convey the deep emotions between Primo and Giada. A must!
Mafia-lite romance, forced proximity, insta love tropes
Giada is a mafia princess. Not in the sense where she is involved, but her family is. She lives a relatively laid back glamorous life - living off her families money. The black sheep of the family, she has a reputation for being reckless and contrary. One night at a casino, she runs into a tall dark mysterious man, and he rejects her advances. In a moment of rebellion, she steals a small trinket from him. What she didn’t know, was that Primo is a cartel man himself and not one to be trifled with. Deciding to track her down - and take her home. Primo and Giada start a dangerous relationship that has more at stake than either knows.
This was not the best - I felt it was superficial and the characters didn’t have much depth. Giada’s character just seemed shallow and spoiled. I did not connect with this story or characters.
This series just keeps delivering! Now we find ourselves in Vegas, then back to NYC, then the beautiful beaches of Mexico for some serious trouble, courtesy of Giada and Primo. Giada is duped into believing she’s making moves for love, but she soon realizes just how wrong she was. And once it all hits the fan in a spectacular way, she’s rushed back to NYC with some very angry family just waiting to deal with her, shall we say spontaneous moves? And Primo finds himself in a whole new mess of trouble that he has to wade through to get back to the side of the woman he loves.
This story kept the promise of some darkness with strong women and the men who love them, so I can’t wait to see how Camilla manages to put Filip in his place, hopefully in the next book of this series!
Impossible Odds is book 4 in The Five Families Series by Jill Ramsower and can be read a s a standalone. The book centres on the delightful Giada Genovese, a mafia princess who takes no nonsense from anyone. On a night out in Vegas she comes across a stranger who she is instantly attracted too, but the feelings aren’t reciprocated. No harm, no foul for Giada as she walks away with her confidence intact, but no before she takes something from the mystery man that he wants back.
Primo isn’t going to let Giada get away with anything, mainly due to pride but also due to the fact that he is attracted to this mysterious beauty. The only problem is that Primo is part of the Cartel and the Cartel and the Mafia don’t mix.
What I really enjoyed about this book was the background we get about both Primo and Giada. Primo has had a tragic childhood and when secrets form that come to light it really does test his loyalties. He also tried so hard not to be attracted to Giada, but she just gets under his skin. We may not like everything this brooding man puts her through, but boy does he make up for his mistakes. Giada is a wonderful character, both vulnerable and strong, she has a mind of her own and she isn’t afraid to use it. I definitely think she was overlooked in her family, but you see the strength she has because like a queen, she doesn’t take anything lying down, she also doesn’t let Primo get away with anything and helps to crack his tough exterior.
This book is full of action and obstacles. We see into the mind of what it looks like to be part of the Cartel and what that means for relationships and power. I really enjoyed the background we get from Primo and how Giada helps him to move forward, even though they both have to take major risks to their lives. A fast paced, exciting read!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
Let me tell you something about this book. From the start...the very beginning...we get the heat and we get the spicy. Ramsower freaking pulled zero punches and yanked our ever loving attention from the get go with this dirty, dirty man. Primo demanded Giada’s attention and he dang well got it. And he got mine as well. I was over here fanning myself the whole time. Because the story was like whoa.
Giada is everything right with this story...fun, loyal, a rebel, and determined. I adored her from start to finish. I loved she didn’t know what she wanted to do with her life. Because it’s ok. She will figure it out one of these days. But she did know she wanted Primo. Because who wouldn’t? I was in love with the two of them even when they were not.
I am not saying things were easy for them, because a huge secret is thrown all up in Giada’s face. But sis handled it like a freakin champ. While I would have been cowering in the shadows, peeing myself. No doubt.
But all in all, this story was so very amazing. From the beginning to the end, IMPOSSIBLE ODDS held my mind and body captive. Whispering hope at times and seductive secrets throughout. I was immersed deeply. Ramsower owned my life for two days with her words and even well past the last page as my mind was overtaken with the story I just read. 5 Frenzied Stars!
I received an arc for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Every time a new Five Families book comes out, I get sucked back into the Mafia life. It also helps that Jill Ramsover writes such believable and interconnects such exhilarating stories that are impossible to ignore. Giada and Primo's account may differ from the others, but it is just as impressive and spellbinding as the others.
“I can’t tell if you were sent as a curse or a divine reward, nor does it seem to matter. You could rain down havoc on my life, and I still don’t think I could stay away.”
Giada Genovese may be the niece of Enzo, the Lucciano Family head, and her father, Edoardo. The mafia princess wonders if she may ever see the dark-haired man from her short visit to Vegas. Little did Giada know, but he would find her and give her the time of her life. She is throwing caution to the wind for the chance of a lifetime to follow her heart even when she isn’t 100% sure of things.
“Our interaction wasn’t tender or sweet. It was primal and raw, and I loved every second of it.”
Primo had once been living on the streets after his mother was killed. He has now been groomed over the past several years to help out the Sonora Cater boss, Nazario Vargas. If only for a little bit; his feelings from being around Giada have him wanting so much more. Knowing what his job entails and the secrets he tries to hide to protect Giada, not everything goes to plan. Can he keep Giada safe while trying to get out of under his boss?
“You aren’t just on my mind; you own my every craving. Nothing smells as sweet as your hair on my pillow. No wine could ever taste as sweet as your lips on mine. No paltry sunset could ever mesmerize me like the flecks of gold that dance in your emerald eyes. You have become my reason for breathing—the thought of another woman is comical compared to what I feel for you.”
Something told me Giada would be different than her cousins. She was mouthy but young, not too young that she was naïve about the world, but young enough that the darkness of her family business hadn’t touched her. I loved how Jill wrote Giada; she is such a strong woman, yet not as hardened as her cousin Maria. She is tough as nails and understands that some things can’t be left unsaid or unspoken if there is trust. Primo was something else. He also reminded me of Matteo, but different in an enjoyable way. I love the push and pull Primo has for Giada, knowing he shouldn’t be involved with her because his lifestyle isn’t the easiest. Though he has intense feelings for her, ones he has never felt for anyone else. Feelings that he doesn’t want to lose give away, or have someone take them from him. I love love LOVE how protective he is of her and how much of a fighter she is. Together they are stunning and balance each other out. I also have a new love for supply closets.
I highly recommend this book, and while it is in a series, you don’t have to read them all, but I would recommend starting with the one before this one.
"You could rain down havoc on my life, and I still don’t think I could stay away.”
So I didn't think anything could top Maria and Matteo's story but my God.. Jill really shot this one out of the park! It had everything! The story line, the character development, the twists and turns which kept me flipping those pages until the early hours! And the writing style! Jill doesn't just write books, she writes art!
“You’re a little crazy, you know that?”
Now I've loved Giada from the get go, from the little peeks we've had of her from the other books, but she's so much MORE than the carefree wildchild we saw in previous books. She's everything I love in a heroine, strong, sassy, independent, doesn't take any shit and holds her own, but not in a bitchy way. She reminds me so much of myself, the way her family describes her is often how my family used to describe me (back in my early twenties before I settled down 🤣) and that's probably why I've always connected with her so much 🖤
"Giada was the most confident, headstrong woman I’d ever met. She bounded through life with charismatic purpose, enriching the lives of everyone around her."
Primo 🔥 Primo is just *sigh* *swoon* 🥵 he gives himself a hard time over his feelings for Giada but he's still attentive to her. This man has been through the ringer, he's not just a typical bad boy with a tragic backstory, there's so much more to him!
"I wasn't sure if I wanted to knock her down from her high horse or worship at her majestic feet. Just like before, she stirred an inferno of conflicting emotions inside me."
This story line was full of twists and turns that I didn't see coming, it was just SO GOOD!
So you all know I was shipping Giada and Filip, but Jill proved to us that they would clash BADLY 🤣 and man am I glad because Giada and Primo are just EVERYTHING 😍
I'm even more intrigued about Filip now though (you know which bit I'm talking about Jill 👀) and from the little breadcrumbs you dropped through this book I cannot wait for his story 👀 😂
Impossible Odds is the fourth book in the Five Families, this time it focuses on one of the cousins of the three sisters from the first three books. Giada is a feisty, strong woman and a lot of fun to read about. She needs someone who can match her strength without trying to stifle her. Primo is her ideal match and the chemistry between them makes for a fiery match. Primo and Giada first meet when she steals a lighter off him and this sets the pace for their relationship from there on in. I like strong female leads and Giada is that with some to spare. Due to Primo's position in the cartel and Giada's family, there is plenty for each of them to overcome so that they can be together. This is another great addition to the five families series. I think that all of the characters have been quite different so far and I'm enjoying seeing each of their stories amuse. In some ways, I did feel that this story wasn't quite done when we reached the end. That's not to say that we're left on any kind of cliffhanger or that Giada and Primo's story doesn't reach a happy conclusion, because there's no cliffhanger and in terms of their relationship all ends as it should. There is clearly more to go with the cartel and Giada's family, but I suppose I'm just going to have to wait and see if that's the case and how it might play out. Either way, I can't wait to read the final two books in this series next year. I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Giada is a mafia princess who has a habit of stealing things ... small things from strangers. While on a trip to Vegas with her cousin and sisters, she steals a silver lighter from a guy who rejects her. Weeks later when she's back home in New York and out again with her cousin, she spies this same man across the room and he is staring at her. Later when he pulls her into a storage closet, she realizes that she has a strong attraction to him. When he asks her to join him at his home in Mexico, she takes a chance and goes with him not knowing that even though her family is the Italian mafia, he is involved with a Mexican cartel that makes her family look tame. Primo was supposed to take Giada's cousin, but when she approached him in Vegas he couldn't think of anything else but her. He has never felt this need for a woman before and he knows that she is a distraction he should leave behind, but he just had to have her.
I loved how Primo just couldn't help himself when he was around Giada. And Giada was just fearless, not realizing or caring about the danger she was in just being around Primo. I loved the mystery, the action, the romance and the steamy scenes. Although I did think that she was crazy to go with him to Mexico when she hardly knew him. This is the first book I have read in the series and although it is a standalone, I want to go back and read the other books because I want to get Giada's cousins stories.
I received an early copy courtesy of Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
Giada the mafia princess has met her match in Primo the cartel hitman. Who would have thought taking something from him as little as lighter would turn into something, but then again was their meeting really accidental? I am telling you, you need to grab yourself a copy and enjoy the ride you will be on while reading this book. What is a smart and sassy mafia princess to do when she "runs" into from someone from her last girls trip? When these two first meet who would have thought we would get this hot, steamy, suspenseful, jam packed love story from these two. Their story is not an easy one and the road they have to travel to get to their HEA is one filled with lots of emotion and steam. Giada is just as she was in the previous books. She is smart, classy, and she can hold her own when she needs too. Primo is not a man that you want to double cross, I mean hello cartel hitman... Need I say more?
Thank you to Jill Ramsower, Victory Publishing and NetGalley for sending this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. This book. If you love gorgeous men, beautiful beaches, romance and non-stop action, this book is for you.
Impossible Odds is Book Four in the Five Families Series and can be read as a standalone. The four other books revolve around the main character, Giada, sisters and cousins but you also get to know them in this book. Giada Genovese is the daughter of Mafia Don Edoardo Genovese. She is the oldest of three girls and the black sheep of the family. She seems to be wandering through life aimlessly until she meets Primo in a casino in Las Vegas. She steals his lighter and he tracks her down to a club in NYC. Primo is the head of a Mexican Cartel and very dangerous. He pulls her into a closet and "punishes" her. And so begins their "cat and mouse" relationship. He convinces her to come to Mexico with him, where she learns she has been taken hostage for negotiations between Primo's cartel and her own family.
Despite all of their odds, this is a beautiful romance with some intense parts and a happily ever after. I am giving it five stars because the writing was excellent and the action kept the reader riveted.
Did someone say Mafia? Well sign your girl right on up. Fair warning, this story definitely touches on the darker side of topics. Being that it is a mafia romance I don’t mind.
Going in I expected the general sweet and loving heroine that gets paired up with the ruthless gangsta? Did this story deliver that? Oh no I was gifted with so much more. Instead we the mafia princess that is Giada and the delicious Mexian cartel member that is Primo. Did someone say Enemies to Lovers!
Giada is not only confident but isn’t a pushover either. When she meets Primo for the first time only to be rejected, she takes something from him to be remembered by. She is not blinded to life her father lives, but for the first time she is encountering its draw backs with her relationship with Primo.
Primo, with his broken childhood will shatter all your expectations. Not only will his broken childhood gut you, but any man willing to take the risk of falling for his rivals daughter can cement a place in my heart.
This story is action packed and thrilling. So many plot twist. Overall this was a very enjoyable read.

ARC received from the Next Step PR. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own.
I’m positive this series just continues to get better and better! I loved the plot of this one. It felt more light-hearted than the others, with its plentiful humor, but definitely retained its seriousness of the plot. Giada and Primo meet after she steals something from him, and he tracks her down. Instantly drawn to him, these two set out together...At least that’s what it *looks* like occurs in the book. There’s a lot of background that sets these two together. Primo is creative for sure.
Giada is a bit of a different character than we’ve seen yet in this series. Sarcasm is her weapon and she doesn’t take no for an answer. Despite his actions, I found Primo to be a sweetheart and he melted my heart. Together, they really are made for one another.
Overall great read and am looking forward to Filips’ book!
This is the fourth book in the five families series and while I hadn't read any of the previous books I had no trouble following it and you can bet I will be reading the earlier books very soon
This book from the word go is set up for conflict Giada Genovese is a Italian mafia princess while Primo is very high ranking in the Mexican Cartel They should be enemies but from the moment when she steal a lighter from him in a Las Vegas casino there is a connection. Soon he is tracking her all over the country and the attraction between them is off the charts but can they have a future together when there is so much between their families
Open the pages of this book and you will get: a mafia princess, a cartel hitman and whole lot of action and a great amount of steam! I have been reading this author since her first book and I cannot get enough. This story was wonderful and I had a hard time putting it down.
The way these two characters meet, clash, bond and fall in love really heated up my kindle as well as made me want to find my onw hitman, lol. The author does a great job of really bringing the action from both sides of this story together with the romance. I think, I THINK this might be my favorite Five Families story yet. 4.50 stars.
I've read all the five families books and have really enjoyed all of them. This is another great book in the series. Giada spies Primo in a Vegas casino and is immediately attracted to the man but he isn't interested. She steals his lighter and heads back to her group of friends. Giada feels that is the end of their story until he tracks her down all the way in NYC. That's when the story really takes off with a lot of twists and turns. Great book and I look forward to the next one.
This novel is a hybrid of genres: one part tense thriller, one part passionate romance, spliced down the middle with steamy eroticism. And it works on every level. A Mafia princess, a senior member of a Mexican cartel, not exactly a match made in heaven. Expect fireworks, as the two come together (no pun intended!) It's vibrant, engaging and irresistible.
Impossible Odds is Book Four in the Five Families Series and what can I say but it’s full of intrigue, edge of your seat moments, some very steamy times but it’s also a book where we get to meet the Incredible Giada and Primo two people from the time they meet are combustible. Giada is a Mafia Princess but she is also the “black sheep” of her family, never living up the expectations of her parents but she is a woman who knows that family is important but when she meets Primo all senses go out the window. Primo is man not to be crossed, he is a Cartel Hitman but when he meets Giada he knows he has met his match. Watching the two of them come together, despite all the obstacles that are laid before them they find a reason to show everyone who thinks that this isn’t a good idea that when there is a will there definitely is a way to just maybe find that HEA that you never knew you could find.
This was an exciting read! It MAY even be my favorite of the Five Families series. Giada Genovese, daughter of the Consigliere for the Lucciano Crime Family and Primo, hitman for the Sonora Cartel, are most definitely unlikely couple considering they come from opposing sides. There's absolutely no shortage of excitement in this book and lots of adventure. There's surprises at every turn and nothing is as it seems. Impossible Odds has been a great adventure!
I received an ebook ARC of this book from the author. I loved this book, If you have read the other books in this series (and you should). you have your favorite couples. I had mine. but it seems with each book I get a new favorite couple. And Primo and Giada are now my new favorite couple. The other couples were mentioned in the book and some had a bigger role then others, but they did not over shadow the main couple. Giada was strong through the book ( a good strong, not a Bi#%H strong) Primo was and is a good man. His love was a struggle but not in a treat Giada like crap kind of way.
That's all I'm going to say for fear of making this 10 pages long and giving a ton away.
I received an ebook ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Giada is strong and fiercely independent. She has never needed a man, but now she wants this one. Bad. Bad enough that she would do pretty much anything to get him.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I had a hard time putting it down. I'm never sure about series because a lot of them repeat and have the same storyline, but Jill really brings a new story with every single book. I love getting a deeper understanding of Giada and Primo in the dual perspective storyline. Giada knows what she wants and goes for it, not caring what anyone thinks, because she knows who she is; she's a mafia princess and proud of it.
Series Rating: (5 ⭐️ average) 0.5 First Confession ★★★★★ 1. Forever Lies ★★★★★ 2. Never Truth ★★★★★ 3. Blood Always ★★★★★ 3.5 Where Loyalties Lie ★★★★★ 4. Impossible Odds ★★★★★ 5. Absolute Silence ★★★★★ Novelette. Guilty Stars ★★★★★
I was the physical embodiment of every dim-witted horror movie starlet, too engrossed in her own world to realize the dangers around her. It was pathetic. I was pathetic.
I love Jill, but ya’ll this was just stupid. The stripper scene alone made me gag. Giada was not a badass, she was a spoiled bimbo.
This book made me want to give up on this entire series, but I only have two left, and apparently, I love to suffer.
Despite the carefree and glamorous life she has, Giada is not fully content. She is looking for something, and that something might turn out to be a someone, as the dark mysterious Primo follows her from Las Vegas to New York to get back the lighter she has stolen from him. Two strong personalities collide within the dark world of organized crime. • I loved reading this book and was pleasantly surprised to see how well Giada and Primo fit together. Giada is the epitome of confidence. However, despite loving strong female leads that Giada embodies perfectly, Primo was the one who had my heart throughout the story. I felt like his character had the most development. Ramsower reveals layer after layer of Primo, making it impossible for you not to succumb to this bad boy with a tortured soul. • The story was compelling with the perfect combination of romance and suspense. I could simply not put it down. It had angst, banter, romance, and all the steamy moments that will make your heart flutter. It is my first reading anything by Ramsower, so it won't come as a surprise if I told you I have already picked up some of the other books in the series ^^ • 4,5/5 #fridayinaprilbookreviews • I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is Primo and Giada’s turn. Giada is a mafia princess, which is a recent revelation to her, and while out in a casino she spots Primo across the room, and she is instantly attracted to him, but when he rejects her she steals something from him, and goes back to rejoin her friends. When Primo track her down to NYC he convinces her to leave with him to go to his home. Primo is a hitman who work for a Cartel kingpin, and he was after her cousin but could not resist the attraction to Giada. The Cartel and the Mafia are not a good mix, so what will happen to their love? This is a well written story which is intriguing and with twists, secrets, and love, which all had me fascinated throughout this addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.
This series delivers again! Giada and Primo had a connection from the start. She tempted fate the night they met. It came back full circle with a wild ride. Mafia meets Cartel. She is a strong female who goes after what she wants. He is a man who is dominant and gets what he wants. The worlds they live in collide for a wild ride as only these two would take. Great plot twists keep the reader glued to the pages!
This book has such an interesting concept where Mexican cartel meets mafia princess. It certainly is an exciting tale and one that intrigued from the beginning, I was literally hooked and found the fast pace of the story perfect.
Giada Genovese is the daughter of the consigliere to a mafia don. She is headstrong, confident, and sexy but unsure of what she wants out of life. Primo is a Mexican cartel assassin, the second in charge to the head of the cartel. He is brash, super confident, determined and a super spunk. When he meets Giada, well let’s just say there may have been some sparks but no fires were lit, then! I really liked both lead characters and while Primo made me want to shake him occasionally with his hot and cold attitude, I still liked him. The chemistry they had was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
The descriptions of Guaymas was so vivid I now want to travel there. Actually all of the character and setting descriptions are terrific. Each help you to visualise the story as you read.
This story has it all: a delicious bit of darkness, great romance, mafia as well as cartel, interesting settings, a touch of humour and some incredible twists and turns you don’t see coming. I totally recommend this book.
Are you looking for a suspenseful romance with enough steamy scenes to make any romance lover happy? Then you need to check out Impossible Odds. This book continues the story of the Genovese women, the daughters of the boss and the consigliere of the Lucciano Family. The glimpses we received of Giada from the first three books led me to believe that her story would be a wild ride and this book delivers; but what type of man would capture her heart? I did not expect who it turned out to be. I won’t spoil the surprise, but he did not disappoint.
This story contained the right amount of passion, intrigue, and heart-stopping moments to make me want to keep turning the page. Giada is a strong female character that keeps you going between wanting to knock some sense into her and wanting to give her a big hug. She fits right in with the other strong-willed Genovese women from the first three books.
Maria Genovese is my favorite character from this world, and I was so happy to see her and Matteo in this book. The few glimpses of we saw of them made me smile, laugh, and remember why she is such a badass mafia woman. Of course, Giada is now a close second to Maria. She proved that she can hold her own as a daughter of the Five Families.
I highly recommend reading all of the books but don’t worry if you start reading out of order. The author does a great job explaining what has happened before, so you don’t feel lost if you jump into the series during this book.
