VERY useful to learn Spanish. It has English then the Spanish direct translation. It also has a nice message for kiddos about being flexible and appreciating others' ways to do things.
I think that this book does a great job of showing, side by side, how kids lead similar lives. Both Margaret and Margarita arise in the mornings with similar rituals (brushing teeth, putting on clothes and combing hair), but they do it in their own way. Although their ritual is different, their dialog is the same...with the exception of the language used. One is English and one is Spanish.
Great tool to teach kids, or beginner adults, the Spanish language.
Great for preschoolers. Made for bilingual reading, so it was great for storytime. Wish there were more books set up like this (one character speaks English, one speaks Spanish).
I read this book with my partner, and we had a really fun time! The book was special because it had two characters who talked in both English and Spanish. I read the English parts, and my partner read the Spanish parts. We took turns reading out loud to each other. This book is great, especially for friends from different cultures who can enjoy reading together in their own languages!
A story of two friends who each like to do things their way, but enjoy being together. Margaret's story is in English and Margarita says the same thing in Spanish (while doing things completely differently).
This sweet book that celebrates the language and customs of Anglo-American and Latino cultures would make a great bilingual creative dramatic or puppet show about friendship. This would also be a good choice for a bilingual storytime being presented in tandem with an English-speaker and a Spanish-speaker.
This was one of the better bilingual books I've found for my daughter. I like that it encourages kids to have their own identity, but also to be open to trying to do things differently, too. I also like that it encourages friendships across language barriers.
