Too often, content models are developed with no consideration of the system in which they have to operate. This book is an examination of how content actually gets modeled inside a CMS -- what features and architectures are available to translate a theoretical domain model into something that a CMS can manage. If you're looking for a CMS, what features should you look for? Does your current CMS measure up to the state of the market? What is possible in content modeling at this point in the industry?
As somebody trying to build my first official content model and struggling to see more details than the, “say you’re building a content model for a recipe” example I see a lot of, this book goes into greater details on how the model impacts your CMS choice and vice-versa. Thank you. Thank you for more detailed and varied details. I appreciate it. I think I might be confident now to have that site redesign discussion.
(4-stars instead of 5 because I found errors in the text and though I get how that happens as a writer, if you’re going to take the time to write a 50k word book, maybe pay an editor on fiverr to check your stuff. Or maybe you did that and there are still several errors, in which case, I apologize.)
