Elyse Daniel I was tired. I was exhausted from tricking myself that any bum dude would do. I didn’t want to date Mr “He’ll do For Now” anymore. I wanted the one. The one that made my soul soar. The one that made my heartbeat quicken when he walked into the room. The one that living without was not an option. But, could I do it? Could I put on my big girl panties and simply call the man and see what happened? I needed to ask him a few questions. Why we stopped being friends? Why we never became lovers? Could we try to discover forever together? I guessed if I wanted him, I would have to jump in his Dm’s just like every other basketball, influencer, groupie, thirsty chick that wanted Chase McClennon because I knew. My soul knew. Even my heart was in agreeance. This man was explicitly mine. Now, I just had to convince him.
The writer is very talented. Obviously she can tell a very interesting and engaging story. However, the main character was just too much. Too immature to be a medical practitioner. She acted like she was still in college with so much conversation about multiple orgasm. All….the….time. Only younger girls are obsessed with sex that much. As we age, it’s still important but the intimacy becomes more important. She bragged on herself too much. Chase character was very one dimensional like he was added in the book just to make her look good. He had no depth. The only bland conflict in the story was ex gf Bella. The story just babbled along and how the h*ll in all of the interracial novels the guys parents are just so thrilled he’s dating/marrying a black woman. Been in plenty of IR relationships and 95% of the time they aint’t happy with that. All of these stories are starting to follow the same script.
The story of Elyse and Chase. They were best friends in college who after college went their separate ways. After a dead end relationship,Elyse reaches out to Chase who is now an NBA player. They hook up and soon after she wants more from him, never realizing he wants more from her. There are a few hiccups in the relationship. The story is funny thoughts were well executed There are a few errors. Also this is for all authors nod means yes a shake means no. I can not express how irritating it is when they have a character say yes while shaking their head. The only other issue is with her wedding decision to starve herself to fit into a dress or exercise to the point of passing out while pregnant appears to be an issue.
Elyse and Chase have to be one of my favorite couples!! Every series she writes gets better as do each couple. Elyse and Chase were meant to be, and I love their story. When Elyse decides to reach out to Chase she does not know what to expect. They were close in college and she always had feelings for him, but when he was drafted for the NBA they lost touch. After they re-connect things start to heat up between them. Chase has always had feelings for Elyse but never knew how to act upon it. When they get this second chance together they have to deal with a lot of things that attempt to come between them plus their feelings itself. This book was amazing! As with all her books its a must read.
This story was not bad and would actually give it a 3 1/2 stars. The language used by the heroine was a little immature to me. I like the storyline but was a little turned off by the “boy bye” statements. It could be a generational gap and not what I’m used too. The conversations sounded a little to high school at times to me and didn’t add to the story. There were also a few instances where the names where missed. If you can get passed these mistakes then it’s a fair read. Honesty, the heroes character was stronger and was the reason to finish the book. Otherwise I would have gave up on Elyse in the first few chapters.
This was what you would want in short and sweet ,not to mention sexy second chance romance. The writer gives us two people who know early on that it's each other they want and ignore all the 😵 naysayers. I loved we got a grown mature woman who knew when to turn it on and cool it down. Although I would have loved just a little bit more of a public relationship. This was really good in what seems like a worthy series in the making. Hope to here from them again in the next installment.
I initially chose this book because the synopsis was interesting. But was struggling with the first chapter but the free price made me press on. And I am so happy I did. This is a grown folks romance. Both main characters respond with maturity and mature reflection, except for one hiccup on the heroine's part. Outside of that, I smiled, laughed, got hot and basically enjoyed the book to the point I'm purchasing it for future reads.
I enjoyed this story to an extent. Elyse and Chase made sense to me and I enjoyed that he didn’t let her sabotage their relationship. My biggest complaint is in the writing style. There is just way to much internal dialogue and back thought in this book. (And from reading the excerpt of Denises book, too much there too!) One paragraph was drawn out into an entire chapter... all the time. It is excessive and I hope you cut back on it in your future books.
Que sera, sera… they were meant for each other, as friends they were making preparation for their HEA, they just didn’t know it. Years later, fate will link them back together and this time neither one will let the opportunity passed them by. Meet Elyse and Chase and let them tell you about their friendship in college and how they ended up with an everlasting love. Ps. woman like Bella is what gave women bad rap, girl please!!
I really enjoyed this story and the characters were very entertaining. The story line was believable and interesting to the point you did not want to put it down. Loved the chemistry between Chase and Elyse was smoking hot 🔥 and intense. I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers you will not be disappointed. This series by Ms Williams is a very entertaining series that you will truly enjoy.
Elyse and Chase are truly great couple goals. This how I have always viewed or liked to read an interracial story preferably this genre (black woman white man). MS. Williams you gave it ten fold for an avid reader. What I absolutely love about this story was how forward both Elyse and Chase were once they reconnect. I would have loved a little bit more fighting instead of this all around acceptance but it was still good just like that. The perfect couple and all that Jazz…
Can’t lie I couldn’t get past the opening of this book. As a black woman it rubbed me the wrong way that both black male characters had to follow the same stereotypical bashing of black men. It gave off the same vibes of black men choosing other race women over black women because of a bad experience with one woman. Love who you love without trashing your own. Maybe the book got better after this but I have absolutely no desire to find out
This book was really great. It had my all my favorite things in it. Longevity, she was a successful woman in her own right and didn’t need to be saved, and finally they both knew how to handle their detractors without embarrassing themselves. Loved it.
I love that Elyse recognized that she was wasting time and playing herself with Brian. Her feelings were so realistic! I can count so many times that my girlfriends felt the same way about a situationship. Chase made up for lost time locking Elyse down after years of no communication.
I really enjoyed this book. Chase and Elyse were high school friends who were crushing on each other but never admitted it. Fast forward several years and the couple reconnect when Chase is I town with his NBA team playing a game. They have a few pitfalls to happiness but a good read and story.
Loved this slow burn love story. Elyse and Chase met in college. A true friendship developed between the two. However when Chase was drafted, they lost contact with one another. Both experience the world and re!gunships that molded them into the people they needed to be to recognize the true gems they had in each other.
Explicitly Yours is Book 1 of The Elvolution of Us. I love it. Elyse and Chase have been best friends since their college days. They lost touch, though they often thought about reconnecting because of unresolved feelings. See what happens when they do.😍🤩
This is a good story about previous friends becoming lovers. The foundation was already built but they had to go through some things to be able to go all in. From the initial reunion, the rest of their story was already written. They were explicitly each other's.
The characters in this story were awesome. They were nothing I expected them to be. Didn’t particularly care that upon seeing Elyse he pounced but it worked. Nick came for and got what he asked for. Bella got what she needed. Elyse’s friends were the bomb. Chase’s friends and family did what was needed. This was a great story. Almost read non-stop.
I loved this story and seeing how Chase and Elyse found love. does this story has some grammar errors and typos, yes, but not so much that it takes away from the story. I love the dual POV and always thinks that brings an added dimension to a story. Wold love go see a story about Que and Alex.
MS. Williams no need to feel fragile. You did your thing with this book. I plan to 1-click every time that I see a book by you. Loved this story and your writing style!
Wow, I didn’t expect this book to be this good, I couldn’t put it down, love Chase and Elysse, I would like to read a part 2 on them alone. Can’t wait to see how Diane and Alex story turn out.
Overall the book was ok. I like chase but at times elyse drove me crazy. She was insecure, does he not like me bc I’m black, will they not like me if I don’t straighten my hair. Ugh.
Some editing issues and misused phrases “On a religious level???” You mean on a spiritual level. I think that took away some from the reading experience. But it was still worth the read.
Out of the trilogy, this book was my favorite! I loved this couple! I loved the friendship they had and how natural it was to love each other to come full circle! Read all three books! They are all One Click winners!
I love the love seen between these two. We can all relate to that long lasting friendship that turns out to be your soulmate. Love this book and cant wait to read book 2.
Hmm. Elyse illuminates the us that remember that guy from college. The one we had a connection with. The one we ask ourselves: what if? This is the happily ever after some of us never got. Chase is that book boyfriend that satisfies on so many levels.
The editing of this book was really atrocious. Could have been a much better story,if you didn't have to spend so much time figuring out some of the words.
