The witty, breathtaking sequel to Nyna Queen’s urban fantasy / paranormal romance debut BY A THREAD. Filled to the brim with treachery, forbidden love, racism, loyalty, and unexpected friendship.

A royal gathering. She isn't invited. And if they find her, they will kill her...

Against all odds, Alex Harper survived her deadly wounds and managed to shake off her faceless pursuers. But she is hardly safe. With a death sentence looming over her, she must quickly find out who is pulling the strings in this twisted game she has become a part of – before they catch her. But that means infiltrating the trueborn royal elite; a glamorous world that possesses no love for shaper mongrels such as Alex. One wrong step will be the death of her.

To make things worse, she has to work with Darken again. Now back in trueborn territory, the scorching hot Deathbringer has retreated behind his armor of fire and the class difference between them becomes painfully obvious. Can their feelings for each other survive this growing gulf? Not that it will matter if Alex's self-control isn't good enough to pass for a member of the elite, and in the Royal Palace of all places! Caught between dark secrets and political intrigues, Alex soon realizes that she has entangled herself in a deadly web of lies...

What to expect:

- Strong, badass heroine
- Slowburn romance enemies-to-lovers
- Alpha male
- Some spicy content and strong language

This book has a cliffhanger. All the books in the trilogy are out!

Nyna Queen, you have done yourself a great justice! Just when I thought I couldn’t fall in love with a new paranormal series, you gave us Alex and made her snarky and brave, gave her a keen sense of justice in an unjust world. Then you tossed Darken into the mix just to heat the action up!

WEB OF LIES is nothing short of brilliant as political machinations, conspiracies and daring plots become like magnets drawing readers in. Fascinating characters, no two being alike, no cookie cutter personalities and so much going on, as Alex enters the lion’s den, knowing one misstep will mean her death.

Wickedly amusing dialogue, daring moves and intense edge-of-your-seat reading, I cannot wait for more from Ms. Queen, Alex and Darken in this world filled with inequality and hidden agendas.

I received a complimentary copy from Nyna Queen! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Well, I am the author, so you can say I am biased, but I LOVE this book!
To follow Alex and Darken on their journey and to be able to write it down for my readers is the most satisfying thing in the world. I love every page, every joke, every tear, and every smile because they mean I am living my dream!

Thrilling and intense - a great sequel to Nyna Queen‘s first book: full of intrigues, romance and action.

In „Web of Lies“ the story of Alex and Darken continues, taking the reader into the world of the Trueborn and the royal elite – a world full of conspiracies and prejudices. Alex has to fight the outer enemy as well as her own demons: her shaper nature and her feelings for Darken, that make everything so much more complicated. Relationships grow, new lovely characters are introduced. All the while we don‘t lack funny comments, biting sarcasm as well as deep emotions and hot action. The book ends with a dramatic final, yet there are still so many unsolved riddles. Can‘t wait for the third book to unravel them…

The whole palace intrigue and the mysterious Master? Chef’s kiss. Give me more of that, please. Even after two books, it still feels like it could be anyone, which is honestly kind of impressive.

The romance subplot, though? Not so lovely. Misunderstandings and zero communication—the most uninspired way to build tension and chemistry. Like, come on. We're not in high school anymore. The whole “I’ll dump him before he dumps me” drama? Not exactly peak emotional maturity.

That said… to be fair, it does keep you on the edge of your seat. You find yourself rooting for them—even if it's just because you’re a sucker for drama and unfulfilled longing. (Guilty.)

And the cliffhanger at the end? Totally out of nowhere. I didn’t see it coming at all.

I don't have words for this! 'Web of lies' was a whole notch above 'By a thread'! I literally breezed through the entire book, I was flipping pages so fast I lost track of time. You unknowingly tangle yourself in the web of Alex's story and believe me, you don't want to escape.

I really wish Darken and Alex could've taken their relationship forward but their life is quite hectic so no comment on that. But, I'm just happy that they acknowledge their feeling as 'not just attraction'. The Dubois family is amazing and Heloise... Heloise is the epitome of strict. Loved the parts where Alex left her slack jawed. And Alex, she's so much more reckless and stupid and brave and amazing than before. The stuff she's done, she can make a bucket list.

There's so many emotions in this book. You sigh with them, you laugh with them, you get angry. This series a whole emotional rollercoaster. Which is pure satisfaction.

Unbelievable!!! Awesome!!! In By A Thread, Alex and Darken save Josy and Max Dubois-Leclaire from being kidnapped and death. Now in Web of Lies, Alex and Darken are trying to find out who is trying to kill Stephane Dubois-Leclaire, father of Josy and Max, to keep him from being the Governor.
Trying to keep Alex’s shifter side a secret, she is is brought into the ball to spy and help find the people who want Stephane dead. His mother, I call her a battle-axe, is brought into help to “polish” Alex to act as a Trueborn. So many turns and twist at the Summerball, Who are the people who started this scheme. The plot thickens and I cannot wait until the next book.

This is probably going to be my last KU book of my latest subscription as my subscription ends on the 25th.

So this one picks up where the last left off with Alex in a sort of coma as her body tries to heal itself after the injuries she sustained at the end of the last book. When she does come to, everyone wants to find out who was behind the attempt on Stephane's and the childrens lives so they decide to follow several leads and in the end, end up at a high profile party at the Palace where Alex must pretend to be a high-born.

I do enjoy this series and I'll start by being honest. I was mostly caught by the thing that was transpiring between Alex and Darken. It had been brewing for a long time by the time they did the deed in the first one and both of them clearly had high hopes of something coming of it...but nope. At least not as of yet, as they keep having some of those charged moments and keep trying to say things before being interrupted. It was driving me a little mad!

I am also rather intrigued by who's behind the attempts on Stephane and his family's lives after finishing this one. It wasn't a big deal to me at the start but now I'm starting to get pulled into that craziness.

It did end on a bit of a cliffhager - not like the first! - with Alex's fate very close to hanging in the balance. She isn't in imminent danger this time but I very much want to know how this trilogy is going to end - and if Alex and Darken will finally just talk to each other and admit their feelings!

I will be impatiently waiting for its release.

So finally Nyna Queen released her second book in the Trueborn series- Web of Lies🕸 *yayyyyy!*. Thank you so much for providing us with a copy of this much awaited book! I loved the first book that I reviewed last year, so the excitement for a sequel was obvious and I must say, it sure didn't disappoint!😍😍

Alex, the protagonist, survives the deadly wounds from her pursuers. Now she gatecrashes a royal gathering of the "pure elites", where her kind is not welcome😱 Will she be able to manage to get through this undetected? If not, this could be her last...🙀

Once again, Alex has to deal with not just Darken, but his family as well, especially his mother🙄 Will she be caught in the deadly web of lies, dirty secrets and politics woven into the very fabric of the trueborn community? Will she ever be able to narrow the growing difference of "kinds" between her and Darken?

This book was definitely an awesome one! This book is an example to why I love the urban fantasy genre❤It kept me on the edge the whole time with the action, the drama and a few laughs every now and then😄 Honestly, it's the fastest read that I have ever had😂

Once again, Nyna Queen has given her fans a crazy ending and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book already!🤗

So this one picks up where the last left off with Alex in a sort of coma as her body tries to heal itself after the injuries she sustained at the end of the last book. Once she comes around, everyone wants to find out who was behind the attempt on Stephane's and the children's lives so they decide to use Alex and attend the Summer ball a at the Palace where Alex must pretend to be a high-born.

Alex and Darken, misunderstanding and hurting each other is one of my LEAST favorite ways to delay a romance. Lack of communication is a lame and annoying story builder. I'll dump him, so he won't dump me. It's high school and not very fitting of these lethally strong characters.

The mystery of who is the Master, that's good. I find even after two books, it still could be anyone, although I have my guesses about who the henchman is.

The book ends on a different but still dramatic cliffhanger. I've downloaded it. But may do a mood shift, as this is darker than I prefer and I can only read a couple before needing a cozy.

I would highly recommend this series, such an enjoyable read fast paced and intriguing with a splash of romance I literally devoured the first two books in two days.
It's written beautifully I love the dual point of view and also that we get some sneakings into the mind of the Master and his cronies.
I usually find I am fairly apt at guessing what is going to happen when i'm reading but I find the mystery surrounding who the Master is, is very well done and even after two books still could be anyone.
Alex and Darken are such strong characters that you immediately root for despite there extremely violent natures:) I wasn't crazy about the way Alex internally calls herself sugar and Darken occasionally referring to himself as old man but this in no way impacted my enjoyment of the story.
My only complaint was that I did not realise I was starting an incomplete series and now have to wait for the final book :(

Darken and Alex explain what they know about the children’s abduction to Stephane and Edalyne. The foursome agree it was a plot to derail Stephane’s re-election campaign with his stance on better treatment for Shapers. Darken and Alex pool resources to follow what’s happened to unmask the culprits, clear Alex and at least not harm Stephane’s campaign but the answers aren’t definitive. Fortunately, the suspects will be at an upcoming ball; unfortunately, Alex needs training if she’s going to pass as Elite. (Bless the blind child’s eyes!)

Alex is the talk of the ball and has set Darken’s desire to overheat while she’s uncertain if he’s interested. Meanwhile, Alex has an unexpected issue and the mastermind arranges to strike directly at Stephans the suspects are busy with the overt and covert tasks, being seen, arranging alibis and scapegoats. New characters for this outing bring their own party to the read.

Book two of the series grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go (I had planned to work today but instead read this book.)

The author has created a world that is unique- I know of no other series that I can recall that has any similarities to the Trueborn world. I very much appreciate that and look forward to learning more.

I wouldn’t recommend reading this book without having read the first. This book picks up immediately where book one left us hanging off the very, very steep cliff (yes, I’m still kind of irked. lol) I think you need the first book in order to true appreciate the second.

I’m about to go stalk the internet to see when book 3 is being released. Because I definitely will be reading book 3.

I read it in one go!!
I just couldn’t stop reading it, it is so entraling and full of suspense and thrill, as well as very funny.
I already loved this two main characters, Alex and Darken, but now I’m even more in love with them. In this book we are able to get to know them a little more and to explore their relationship further, which is at the same time so infuriating and hilarious.
I just can’t wait to read the next book in the series, I am actually dying to now what will happen next! I hope we won’t have to wait too long.

This was the perfect follow up for By a Thread!!! I love the world and the characters Nyna Queen has created so much. They are all so unique and carry their own weight. It was fascinating to learn more about the tureborn royal society and while the topics are serious this book was sooo much fun. I was laughing my a** off. And how the relationship between Alex and Darken unfolds left me breathless. I need to know what happens next. Hurry up with book 3, please!

Super mystery, bated breath action, exquisite slow burn attraction, and enough political machinations to please royalty/governorships readers dreams. Recommend highly.

Web of Lies was overflowing with lies, deception, fight scenes, and mystery. There were many heated glances, jealousy moments, but no actual love connection between Alex and Darken. Too bad, I was hoping they’d discuss their night together, maybe have a repeat affair.

Like with book one, By a Thread, this story ended with a cliffhanger. I am dying to know who’s the traitor. I mean, I think I know, but I want confirmation. I can’t wait for book 3, Kissed by Death.

The title holds much promise that Alex and Darken will finally put their pride aside and hash things out, romance wise.

An excellent read

Very well written story with strong character development and world building. I have read many, many fantasy books and can usually predict the story line ; I'm unable to do so with this book. I'm anxiously waiting for the third and final book of tis series. I strongly recommend this author. You won't be disappointed
