Her broken heart. His broken soul. Can she heal his spirit and save him from damnation?
Purgatory. In a dimension between Heaven and Hell, exist the souls of those who must atone for their sins, or face an eternity in the Underworld.
When Rebecca loses her first true love in a car accident, she has no idea that her heartbreak will attract one of these souls, an ancient incubus who brings unspeakable pleasure to her dreams.
Once a Spartan ruler, Xander has spent thousands of years in Purgatory, trying to earn absolution for the crimes he committed as a mortal. Learning to love purely will save him from Hell…but the only way he can interact with humans is as their demon lover.
Until he finds Rebecca. Compelled to comfort her tormented spirit, he realizes that she can sense him outside their dream world. What starts as an erotic dream becomes something infinitely more real as he begins to occupy her living world.
But does he belong there? Or is it his role to make a greater sacrifice for their love? Perhaps that can be his only hope of redemption.
If you love dark spirits and tormented souls, you’ll love Saved By Her. Penned by a seasoned journalist with a taste for the twisted, you can expect a lot of sizzle, and a guaranteed happy ending.
After two decades as a journalist, B.E. Brouillard made the leap to fiction. It was time to create the dark stories that had lurked in her mind for all those years. Tortured souls, flawed lovers, dysfunctional behavior...her characters are not for the faint-hearted. Having said that, many readers will find common ground with the less-than-perfect heroes of these stories. In spite of a mild case of cynicism, Brouillard remains a staunch romantic - Happily-Ever-Afters are guaranteed.
A child of the global village, Ms. Brouillard loves Paris, Africa, sushi, and champagne. When she's not wordsmithing dark debauchery, she spends time with her beautiful men, their German Shepherds, and her pack of killer ponies. Or drinking martinis with friends.
A very enjoyable read, good characters interesting concept. Lots of sexual scenes but still has a plot and sets the scene for more stories for what could easily be a long running series. The story splits between Pergatory and earth. The story centres around humans who have died and have been sent to Pergatory to earn redemption. It has a council who work together to decide punishments but also save the souls they think can be saved. This story focuses on the human Rebecca and a Spartan named Anaxandridas (Xander) who was turned into a demon incubus as punishment. He has been drawn to her since the death of her fiance although not fully aware of him to begin one night things change and makes for some interesting times...is she going crazy? does she have a stalker? This is book one from a first time author... happy to recommend the book and looking forward to the next one.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is my introduction to BE Brouillard as an author and i"m impressed. This story alternates between Purgatory and Earth and is centered around Rebecca who lost the love of her life to a drunk driver. 18 months after her loss Xander gets to visit her in her dreams and gives her emotional release that she didn't think she would ever experience again. I loved the story and look forward to more books by this author. Highly recommend.
