Rate this book
Excitement brews in Crossroads for everyone but Callum Macgregor. The harvest festival coincides with a total eclipse, but a broken engagement leaves Cal with no desire for fun. Then a surprise visit from his old law partner, Isaac Bingham, drops a bombshell. Cal must attend the festival or the world faces unparalleled disaster. Why did accountant Meg Adler's career and romances fizzle? Jobless again, she receives a mysterious offer from a man named Bingham, but they must meet at the Crossroads Harvest Festival. Meg is leery, but it's not the end of the world if this doesn't pan out. Right? Ancient evil prowls the shadow of the eclipse, and the key to saving the present lies in the past. In a time-traveling adventure, Cal and Meg enter a mystic maze hot on the trail of two magic artifacts. Can they fulfill a dead man's mission and discover a new future with each other?

The town of Crossroads is excited about the upcoming eclipse coinciding with their harvest festival but not lawyer Cal. He couldn’t care less, that is until he hears a mysterious summoning. He’s to meet a woman in the corn maze but he’s not sure of her name or even what she looks like. When he bumps into Meg, they enter the corn maze and time travel back to Babylon, the Dark Ages, and even San Francisco in 1906. They’re on the hunt for two mystical relics but they’re not the only ones looking for these items. A dark, demonic force is itching to escape its realm and wreak havoc. Can they fulfill their mission in time or will they be lost in the shadow of the eclipse forever?

Shadow of the Eclipse is one of the most original stories I’ve ever read. It has all the elements I enjoy in a great book: compelling characters, time travel, a touch of fantasy, and of course romance throughout the ages. L.A. Kelley is a gifted storyteller and transports the reader on a fantastic adventure. The author blends mythology with romantic adventure seamlessly. I enjoyed the time travel world-building she created. The descriptive narration took me away from all the stress of my pandemic life. I longed to transport back in time with Cal and Meg. The plot moves at a good pace with plenty of conflicts to overcome. The romance is slow-building and is presented well as they time travel through the eras. If you’re looking for an unputdownable fantasy romance featuring time travel, pick up Shadow of the Eclipse. I swear, you’ll never view eclipses the same. Highly recommend!

Favorite Quote or Character:

Meg. I loved seeing her in her different personas throughout the ages. She’s a strong heroine no matter the time period and I connected with her right away.

DNF. When we switched to ancient Babylon, I tried to continue, skipped ahead a few chapters, tried to read the present-day characters coming to grips with their past selves, and just. No. Not enough present-day acquaintance, not enough of anything compelling happening in the distant past, aaand I'm out at 32%. This needed a developmental edit.

5 Stars. This time-travel adventure story was very enjoyable. The two main characters don’t have a minute to catch a breath and neither does the reader. Just when I thought they’d returned home for the last time, they are off on another journey in a different year to find the two relic objects. The author paired two solid main characters who form an instant connection. Trust and chemistry bond Cal and Meg. The seamless plot jumps from the present to a time in history with ease. The twists and turns held my attention and there’s plenty of action and drama. This book not only has two great leading characters, but an equally good cast. There’s many surprising links to current characters to people in the past. The scene when Cal and Meg stand together with their identities from history is totally engaging. I can see this book developed into a movie…it’s that good. A must read. Reviewed for Still Moments Magazine.

Just Perfect!

A touch of history, a smidge of science and a lot of suspense! Cal and Meg make a perfect pair and the supporting cast of characters all contribute to an awesome story. The story moves through time and races to an exciting conclusion. I couldn't put it down. Thank you! Oh and Big Foot is in North Carolina
