Troy Steven has been battling Bipolar Disorder for over 20 years. He is a graduate of Purdue University and holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from N.C. State University. He has worked as an Engineer since 1984. He is the proud Dad of four children and Grandpa of two grandchildren, and enjoys bonfires on the beach, spending time with family, and reading and writing. Troy resides in Satellite Beach, Florida.
This book is a true gift to those who are living or familiar with a bipolar disorder. Before reading this book, I spent many hours searching through the internet, learning as much as I could about bipolar disorder. I would have saved a lot of time had I bought this book at once! Breaking Bipolar is practical and straightforward; it focuses on creating a particular battle plan, intending to control mental illness, and overcome anxious or depressive thoughts and emotions. The author’s expertise, experience, and research are evident – it provides all the necessary tools to fight your mental illness. I was genuinely amazed at how much information is covered, how detailed it was! The author, Troy Steven, really helped me understand a lot of aspects involved in treating this kind of disease: for example, how to cope with the stress within myself, how to deal with the ups and downs, and so on. I especially liked the fact that Troy Steven himself went through all difficulties and created a ‘process’ how to stay alive and how to survive day by day, facing bipolar disorder. The book can be used as a journal to jot down your personal feelings, goals, and keep you persistent with focus on winning, or being able to adapt. Breaking Bipolar is an absorbing read, especially if you want to understand more about the why's and how's of every aspect of this illness. It is also a useful resource if you want to look up things as needed. I recommend it to anyone trying to gain more control over their own life/illness or explain it to anyone else affected by bipolar disorder.

From first-hand experiences to interviews from other bipolar patients, the author openhandedly provided detailed information about optimizing your medication, choosing the right psychiatrist, training your mind and body, recovering from episodes, knowing about psychiatric hospitals, and knowing your legal rights in the society considering your mental illness. I have never been well-educated of what a bipolar disorder is like, until I read this book.
I’m giving this book 5 out 5 stars. I was amazed by the pristine creation of this comprehensive guide for people with bipolar disorder. This book is highly recommended, not only to bipolar patients, but also to readers who want to be well-informed.
A must read ! I have absolutely loved reading this book. As someone with bipolar I have learned so much from this book. The book is so insightful and written using many of sources. I enjoyed seeing different statistics throughout the book and the well cited information provided. The author uses quotes from famous influencers which I found interesting and informative. I really liked his take on discussing how to combat bipolar. I am just learning more about bipolar as I have been recently diagnosed. It made me hopefull to realize that if you can recognize any onset bipolar episode theres a chance you can combat it before it gets worse. Thank you for writing and sharing your book with the world !!
