I didn't mean to cross over into Faerie. It was an accident. And now... now I'm on the run.
I thought my situation couldn't get any worse. After a vindictive Seelie noble has me thrown in jail for refusing to be his pet, I figured life behind iron bars was as bad as it could get.
And then I met my cellmate.
Rys is... complicated. A former guard in the Fae Queen's court, his betrayal landed him in Siúcra with me. When it comes out that I'm actually his fated mate, his ffrindau, I can hardly believe it. I belong in the human world with my boyfriend. Rys has no intention of ever leaving our cell, with or without me.
Fate has a funny sense of humor, though. Too bad neither of us are laughing.
There's only one way to get out of Siúcra with your head still attached. You have to sacrifice something you don't think you can live without. I gave up my promise ring and everything it means.
Rys gave up me.
Now I'm lost in Faerie—again. The Seelie who bought me at the Faerie market wants me back. The prison guards won't stop until I'm back behind bars. And Rys...before too long, it becomes clear that fate has other plans for us.
Turns out that both of our sacrifices were in vain, and now I'm in even more trouble than before.
**Escaped is the second book in an exciting new Fae series by the author of Touched by the Fae. Featuring a directionally-challenged, mouthy human heroine, the scarred Light Fae who'd rather stay in jail, and their quest to save Faerie together—well, once they break out of Siúcra, that is.
Because each story leads directly into the next until the conclusion in the third and final book, please be aware that there are cliffhangers. Elle and Rys's complete story is finished with Freed.
Jessica Lynch loves to write! She's been writing ever since she was a child, and spent years writing fan fiction before deciding at the end of 2017 to begin focusing on her original works of fiction. A 14-time winner of NaNoWriMo, Jessica has tons of manuscripts waiting to be formed and shaped and introduced to the world -- plus countless more milling around in her brain. She just wishes she could type fast enough to get them all out!
When she's not writing or working, she's either reading, playing with her family of cats in Central New Jersey, rooting for her beloved Mets, or working on her graphic arts skills to bring her characters and cover art to life.
„Escaped” is the central book in the “Imprisoned by the Fae” Trilogy by Jessica Lynch, a series intended for mature readers with a vision of Faerie does not resembles your usual fairy-tale content 😉
Elle has come a long way from the naïve, almost whimsical girl that still called herself Helen Andrews and stepped foolishly into a fairy ring. Faerie itself and Siúcra (the Faerie prison) would harden everyone, but Elle has succeeded in retaining her own personality throughout all the struggle and escaping Siúcra by sacrificing her own promise ring (the only way to scape Siúcra is by renouncing to your most prized possession). Too bad that her cell roommate, former Queen’s guard and fated mate, Rys also escapes Siúcra by sacrificing…her, must be a joke, right? Unfortunately, Faerie makes not jokes, it only has a very twisted sense of humor, and Elle happens to be it last favourite subject.
Prepare for a fast-paced, action-packed ride through Faerie with Elle, making every possible mistake in the process, always well-humored with a hint of sarcasm that appears all the more whimsical due to Elle sunny nature. The gloves are out, it’s Fate vs. Elle and Elle have resolved to win against all odds… it isn’t like she has a better option 😉
I cannot wait to see the adventure continue in the next book. Beware of the series, it can become addictive 😊
So in the beginning of this second book in the serie we are almost set to a parallel side story as Elle find herself tied to a debt to an elf and has to perform a couple of tasks. She is still a mixture of naivete and boldness, and her adventures, in a very obvious way, make reference to Alice in the Wonderland. Still, our couple can't really stay separated despised their vows, so the rest of the book is about this new dynamic of mated/not mated. In the end of this book we can already guess the major twist reveal that it's going to happen in the third and final book, but in reality is the smaller (or not so smaller) side twists that are really impressive and are well worth reading the full serie. I already read it and, trust me, you will never guess!
3.5 stars (I wish you could give a half) This book just felt strange to me. I feel like a lot of events take place but at the same time there isn’t a lot of character development. The first quarter of the book is all about Grimly and then that story line is just left unfinished as is the Morgan story line. There were also a lot of typos in this one that really made it confusing at points. I did enjoy it overall and I will finish the series but it’s not my favorite.
A fantastic read that grabs you from the first page to the last. Its a fast past read with epic scenes, the scenes are written so well that I can picture them in my minds eye. This book had me on the edge of my seat throughout the book, it is a real page turner with twists and turns that keeps you enthralled with this read. I definitely recommend this captivating read. Its a must read. Shauna Joesten
A great continuation of the series! As we follow along with Elle and her mysterious journey across the Land of Fae. Jessica does such an amazing job in her descriptive writing of the scenes that it draws you in as if you're right there walking alongside Elle. The romance between Elle and Rys is just as hot and cold as it was in the first book and I'm so looking forward to their HEA.
Escaped, the second book of the Imprisoned by the Fae series, is an ebook I downloaded from Kindle Unlimited. A seamless continuation from book 1, I enjoyed the story and the unpredictability of the plot. Elle/Helen could be considered a weak heroine (as opposed to kick-butt), but I think many people can relate to her.
Lots more adventures in faerie for Elle. She has to deal with the sneaky fae and figure out how to get back to Rys. It was bittersweet when they found each other again but did not turn out how I wanted. That ending I need the next book now.
Another fab instalment in this series. Rys and Ella are determined to escape from the prison. As Rys used to be a guard there, he knows at best place to find a portal.
A good second book. She spends a lot of it on her own, navigating (kind of) Faerie on her own and sort of managing to survive. I don’t agree with what Rys is doing, but there’s got to be more to his sacrifice and the whole frinndau thing.
I loved the first book this one was not as good and that ending. Rhys annoyed me in this book. I just hope the last book gets back to what I loved about the first.
