As Corporal Goshawk is adjusting to his new normal, Fate throws him a curve ball. The Marines are stuck on the alien planet as they search for missing Marines and clues to the goals of the SEALS. While they push to not leave any Marines behind, new challenges are presented as more Marines bonded with Leneshal are identified and join Goshawk’s team. To accommodate, Corporal Goshawk is promoted, but many members of his team don’t agree with his promotion or leadership. With the help of his core team, Goshawk has to learn to deal with hardened warfighters while unravelling the mysteries of the machine world. Can he bring home the victory while keeping his Marines together and learning the secrets of an alien past? Read the second book in the Primal Link series to find out.
“Do not let the evils you couldn’t stop stand in the way of the good deeds you will do.” The fast paced writing is exactly in tune with the story, where speed and finesse and rapid changes are necessary for Ray-one of the protagonists-to have any chance of winning the challenging battles. Wonderful inner group team, surreal creatures made out of a fascinating and horrifying merging of metal and flesh. The Lenashal are fascinating, a symbiotic race, powerful and nearly magical. Sloan’s books are typically fast paced, strong on the character development and cleverly put together. The world building is fabulous, with interesting alien species. Active plot, action-packed and keeps you guessing till the end, with its multiple twists and turn of events. This premise left me with a good feeling (I’m smiling whilst I’m writing this), still have the glow inside. The co writing with Bowers has resulted in a magnificent series! Leadership, as much glamorous as it sounded, entails responsibility, involves a level head insight, and not single out, but care for the whole team. A deep understanding, learning, great power equals great responsibility. A thought provoking story, with a complete pull on my emotions. Looking forward to reading the next installment.
A good read to the very end. I highly recommend this book and the series so far. Looking forward to the last book. I only trust that it will be as exciting thank you Mr. Bowers and Mr. Sloan for writing a really nice series of nonstop action.
