This hasn’t been Ivy Stevens’ month. She has been ousted as a witch, chased out of town by a mob, and now she’s being forced to work with her exes to protect her new home.
Ivy Stevens hates being the only witch in a shifter town. Shifters and witches do not like each other. Things tend to get violent when they meet up. Which is why she was hiding what she was. Her neighbors did not appreciate her deception when they found out. They literately formed a mob to chase her out of town, pitch forks and all.
Now, she’s stuck Black Bird, avoiding the two men who ruined her life and then ghosted her. Ezra and Ezekiel Tate. Her exes.
When she gets blackmailed into helping her new home fight off a Coven of shifter-hating witches, Ivy has to team up with Ezra, Ezekiel, and a group of eccentric old ladies to save the town. The townsfolk might not like her but that won’t stop Ivy from saving them.
I am a writer from Seattle. Growing up in the woods listening to stories about ghosts, monsters and myths I learned to love the things that go bump in the night. I currently live in the South where there are a lot of haunted hunts to investigate. My overactive imagination makes for fun writing.
The second book of the Wolves of Blackbird series follows the Tate twins (Ezra & Ezekiel) and witch Ivy Stevens. This picks up just after Rejected ended, the next day after the big rouge battle where Ivy saved the day. The plot/storyline continues, but the author does spend some page time recapping book 1, so you wouldn’t be completely lost if you started here. This one has a smidge of a rejected mate vibe going on. Ivy is the twin’s mate, but she doesn’t know it, and they ghost her after they find out how powerful she is.
This one didn’t work for me for a couple of reason, but the biggest is that it was just too long, and filled with too much magical filler. I was bored big time, and almost DNF’ed several times. Very little page time is actually dedicated to developing the triad’s relationship. Which brings me to my other problem; I couldn’t connect with the mc’s, because I couldn’t get a grasp of their relationship. I was curious how the author would handle the it. I’m not always a fan of the MMF combo consisting of brothers, because unless done right, it feels weird with them having sex together. I believe there was only a couple kisses, and one sex scene with each brother, but they were all handled separately. It didn’t gel into a real triad, and read like she was in two separate relationships that each were aware of. She basically has sex with Zeke, no one talks about it, then has sex with Ezra. It felt awkward, and not really natural. Nor was it explained why they would have the same true mate. Is this a common twin thing? So will Patrick & Henry (I think they’re twins) also have the same fated mate?
I liked Ivy well enough, but the twins came off a bit wimpy. I thought the “Cassidy” holdup was silly, and they acted like she was 8, not 18. There’re a few editing issues, mostly grammar, and a few inconsistencies. Like Ivy is wearing a dress with tights, but then it says her denim clad legs a few sentences later.
Bottom Line- I just couldn’t get into this, and the much longer length didn’t work for me. I was bored, and skimmed a lot. I wish the book was about 100+ pages shorter, and then the rest split to balance the relationship development with the magic/friend filler.
The author is a good writer, but I just couldn’t stand to read another “woman with two mates” story. It wasn’t showing any signs of being different from the typical books about this.
I figured out what my problem is with this authors works.
It’s her handling of relationships, and who the FMC are within them. Pretty much all of her writing is awesome, outside of that [Though I don’t think much of her friendship support. They repeatedly stand by while horrible things are said or done to their besties. They may fume and a growl in the moment, then poof, nothing. While guys, who are supposed to possessive and protective…nothing.].
Anyways. 😬 Her females turn spineless, accept poor treatment, forgive all mistakes without any real atonement, all they require is a short conversation and a magic dick. 😂
Trust me, I’m not the only one who feels this.
[You know it’s weird, stuff I can’t tolerate with the MC’s, I shrug off with side characters. Relationship wrongs that have me swearing, I might even laugh at with the sidekicks… I’m not looking for perfection, boring! But I want characters I can respect and like. They can be submissive, polite, shy, whatever. But they need to find a way to say no, to walk away, to find a way to fight for themselves. When someone betrays or hurts them, to hold back until they are ‘Shown’, not just told. Exactly what us readers want. 😬🥸]
However, the rest of her stories…Awesome! While her action scenes do drag on a bit, they are so well written, so suspenseful [except for the fact that you know how it will end 🥸].
Her dialogue is so easy to read and fall into [except for all the typos and editing errors].
Again, anyways, It’s A Great Read! 😂🤣🥱🫣
[Im so nervous what will happen to the Susix series, once the relationships with the FMC turn sexual 😰🫣]
Extremely frustrating and over-detailed. The reconciliation does not match up with the angst and frustration that the heroine went through at ALL. If you're looking for tough shifter Heroes that stick by their fated mate, this is not the book for you.
I like this one more than the first one but still DNF at 43%. I enjoyed the coven and Ivy interacting with the coven but other than I was eye rolling too much to continue. A few things that bugged me.
1. Perhaps I read it wrong but in the beginning it seemed like the twin's little sister was the one responsible for the mob who essentially went to Ivy's apartment to kill her for no reason. Everyone really seemed to gloss over that. Like if she didn't have powers those people would have killed her and yet the boys still weren't on her side? After dating her for a year. After she saved all of their asses at their request. What the actual fuck man. 2. Kind of related to point 1. Ivy was much much nicer to everyone in that stupid bigoted town than she really should have been. Her life was destroyed and she was almost murdered after she saved them and they still send old ladies into her workplace to talk shit. Old ladies who feel comfortable locking the door and threatening her in broad daylight. Her ex-boyfriends stalk her after ghosting her. And she forgives them after they are nice for like 5 minutes and feed her spaghetti. Like for the love of Christ. She should be planning a fucking bank heist and a way to get out of dodge not tolerating or forgiving the assholes who almost got her killed. 3. Cassidy. Just everything involving Cassidy. 4. Randomly the boys start being nicknamed Zeke and Ra. That just did not work for me. 5. I skipped around a bit to get a feel for how the ending was going to go and the cursed necklace, evil coven, ancient Italian half wolf have witch stuff really wasn't my cup of tea. Not bad just really not for me.
So I am done with this one as well. I will however still be attempting to read the third book in the series because I already purchased it. I will also say that I read the first 2 books in the Susix trilogy by this author and I liked them a lot cannot wait for the 3rd one to come out.

Ivy Stevens has been blackmailed into helping Black Bird’s enemy number one but things aren’t what they seem. The more she helps him, the more she realizes that something rotten has snuck into town. While all of this is going on, she has a strange magical presence messing with her magic and making the townsfolk nervous. Add to all of this the fact that her two exes won’t leave her alone and she’s in over her head.
Ezra and Ezekiel Tate ghosted their girlfriend after realizing she was a witch. They’ve had bad experiences with witches. Now, they think they made the wrong choice and want to win her back. Too bad they have to dodge elderly witches, angry townsfolk, and over protective friends to get to Ivy’s heart. But they’re ready for a challenge.
This was a surprise like. I expected a flat romance but the magic part of it really drew me in. I loved the Black Bird Coven, those old ladies were hilarious. I want another book going in depth into the magic from this book. Can we get an Ivy Part 2 for the next book?
I thought the first book in this serious, but whoooooa. The second book is fantastic! A well-developed story that made me not want to put it down. At first I thought I was going to be put off by the two brothers & their one mate- (I still don’t know if how I feel about it???) but I think the author pulled it off pretty well. I can’t wait for the third book!
I totally enjoyed the story plot. It was so good not sure all the detailed sex scenes were needed, but that's just me, cause I enjoy original science fiction that didn't include that.
That being said, it could use one more edit, words used wrong, like "her for she", etc. But it was far one of the better edited werewolf books I've read recently read.
Good story, but if you are looking for romance and heat, this is NOT it. Nice story but disappointed that I read as much as I did and just gave up. If it had a little spice to actually make the reader believe there was anything other than the story of witches etc it would have been good. Apparently, the balance is not there. Is the story good? Yes. Is this a shifter romance.. nope
The book had more intrigue. More intense scenes. I had problems with the story. She lost everything but at the end she had family heirlooms. The story really needs editing. Checking to make sure you erase your edits is a start.
Now with that being said I liked this book. The witches are funny, loved them. Ivy was great. The twins, were okay. Lawrence thou his flip didn't make since he was okay.
Ezra and Ezekiel are twin brothers that are in love with Ivy. The issue is that the guys are wolves and Ivy is a witch. This story picks up at the last book, with Ben, the Alpha, and his Enforcers trying to find this unseen enemy. Ezra and Ezekiel are great guys for Ivy. I even like Lawrence in this book. Read On!
I found this story less emotionally frustrating than the first book, which I admit left me foaming at the mouth with fury, however considering the trauma and how much Ivy was hurt by the twins I thought the resolution of their conflict was a little too quick . I really liked the Coven, which is a really great addition to the village set up.
I’m glad you are continuing this saga! I’ve enjoyed both books. The story is the main focus with sex added, not the other way around. It’s a lot sexier when there is a story!
Enjoy reading about enemies witches and wolves.. twin wolves Zeke and Esra are bonded to a witch . Join as they have to all work together to defeat an unknown enemy.
Very compelling characters and interesting story line. Looking forward to see how it all wraps up. Hoping to read other books by this author in the near future.
