Wonderwise is a series of prize-winning non-fiction picture books with lively narrative text. They introduce basic concepts in a lively and unusual way. This title takes readers on an adventure through the water cycle.
I loved this book! The repetitive onomatopoeias splish, splash, splosh on every page give children something to join in with. Great way to introduce the water cycle and how it arrives to our homes and out of our taps. Also a fantastic water map at the end of the book along with a glossary of vocabulary they might be unsure of.
This is a story about the journey of water. I though it was a good book where you could get at least 5 lesson plans out of it, including the water cycle, the journey of water (inc cleaning the water) and water wastage. This would cover many areas and help children understand the necessity of not wasting water. I would use this book in key stage 2 to get the full benefits of it. I would read it to the class in the first lesson of water, and then have it available throughout the course of lessons.
