Could the hot boy next door ever fall for a curvy girl like me?
He’s the popular kid at school with a perfect family and tons of friends. Meanwhile, I just moved in with my grandma because my parents got busted for selling prescription painkillers. Not the best way to start your senior year.
I’m determined to have a fresh start, make friends, and stop relying on food for comfort.
And the best part is? My neighbor doesn’t care about my past. He’s become so much more than the boy next door.
I’m falling for him every day, but I can’t help but wonder… could he ever see himself as more than my friend?
Falling for the Boy Next Door is a collection of Kelsie Stelting’s popular series, New at Texas High. It includes three books, Abi and the Boy Next Door, Abi and the Boy Who Lied, and Abi and the Boy She Loves.
This was such a cute romance about a girl trying to find herself and a boy who loves her. Jon is the guy and he falls for Abi as soon as she gets on the bus but try’s to avoid getting in a relationship with her but always keeping her close. He finally can’t take it anymore and asks her out. Abi deals with her weight and does whatever she can to lose weight she takes up running. At first she is running to get in better shape and Jon cheered her on (not for the losing weight part) but motivates her to keep pushing herself to achieve her goals. She falls in love with running just like Jon is in love with running. The first part is about abi trying to find herself. The second part is about Jon and Abi being together and Abi kept thinking Jon was going to leave her because she did not have the confidence in herself that he loved her and only her. She held Jon on a pedestal that he wouldn’t be able to live up to because it was realistic. Jon struggles in the 3 part with figuring out who he is when he loses the one thing that he thinks makes him who he is. He becomes jealous and starts to be controlling thinking Abi will leave him because he can’t run anymore. She tried to make him understand she loves him. I think Jon needed to work on himself before he could fully be with Abi and not worry. He needed to find himself without running. Also in the 2nd part Abi gets threatened and she runs for her life. Ion and her realize that they cannot be apart.
Reading this book is like stepping into tumblr in 2007. The fmc displays a truly alarming range of behaviours common in those with eating disorders from the jump and I am horrified that so many people enjoyed reading this love letter to disordered eating and diet culture. I hope the author has a better relationship with her body and food than this heroine. I do not recommend this book for teens. Especially not teens with any kind of body issue. Please be safe and seek help if you relate strongly to Abi. You deserve better.
Kelsie is a new author to me. Thia is the second book of hers I've read and I couldn't put it down. The twist and turns in this story are just WOW! She kept me on my toes. This book covers really heartbreaking topics that pull on your heartstrings. I hope you take the time to read this story and love all the characters as much as I do. Happy Reading
This collection is amazing! It took me back to my high school and college years. It had every emotion possible included. It made me cry, it made me smile and in some parts it made me chuckle. I think you may want to change your age range from 12-18 to 12+. It's not just a collection a teenager would enjoy.
Glad I read the three parts as one book other wise not sure I would have finished Abi story. The young love in highschool was a good story line. The second part I thought was the best and the last part felt rushed and cleche.
