ZERO ALCOHOL, 100% DELICIOUSNESS
Starting with plain sparkling soda, a gazoz layers in fresh fruits and flowers, aromatic herbs and spices, ferments, syrups, and other artisanal ingredients, all to create a beautiful marriage of flavor and fizz. In Gazoz , discover recipes for stone fruit gazoz, citrus gazoz, even “milkshake” gazoz using nut butters. The possibilities are endless, the results amazing. It’s the best nonalcoholic drink you’ve ever tasted, and by far the most fun to make.
This book is a delight. I was not at all familiar with gazoz drinks and I found the whole concept delightful-- sparkling, non-alcoholic drinks that are packed with various botanical elements to give them all kinds of unique flavors and stunning looks. There are lots of recipes not just for the drinks but for the elements -- how to make kombucha, sugar-fermented fruits, botanical syrups and much more. The photographs are stunning and plentiful. This would make a great gift and also a fun book to treat yourself with, especially if you are into making homemade staples and novel drinks. A fair amount of sugar/honey is used so it won't be suitable for folks on very low sugar or keto diets, but it's nothing compared to most common drinks. This was a really fun and inspiring read.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
So simple yet how has it not entered my brain at all? While I do appreciate the good drink every now and then, I also love anything fizzy and juices. I've just never thought to mix drinks without alcohol before and thanks to Gazoz, I'm now inspired (as summer creeps up). I really enjoyed reading that 'sweet fermentation is about capturing the beauty of nature'. I always preferred not messing too much with nature, but I'm missing out for sure. I don't have the creativity that extends beyond the beauty of clean eating but there's a whole new world out there, as shown by Gazoz. The importance of probiotic drinks is also getting higher on my priorities list as age comes for us all and changes our system. The author's encouragement, of making 'the magic by bringing your own energy, creativity, and style to the glass,' is needed. I can also see a lot of these recipes translating into daily cooking as well, which is super cool. The beautiful photos, clear directions, and enthusiasm from the author is a great motivator to try (for me) this new approach to drinks.
I read an ebook version of this book from the library. It has beautiful photos of a bucolic seltzer shop in Israel (in Tel Aviv I believe). It is great inspiration for creating beautiful seltzer drinks at home if you have Soda Stream or at home seltzer maker. The only criticism is that many of the drinks or fermented flavors are laborious to make. Also, the fruits and herb part is very particular to a sunny climate. It is of course expensive to purchase many fruit for fermentation or to have a year round herb garden. So, a great book of pretty pictures for inspiration.
Gazoz - a delicious, carbonated, non-alcoholic drink! If you're looking for some recipes for delicious, all-natural mocktails, and are willing to put in the work to make them (seriously, you'll need to do your own sweet fermenting and everything) then this is definitely a cookbook you'll want to check out. There's info on how to make your own kombucha and kefir, too. So if you're patient and in the mood for some complex recipes, go forth and make some yummy, sparkly Gazoz!
I received this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The photos in this book are amazing and make everything look so good. I wasn't sure what gazoz was until I started reading this book, and I found it super interesting. I don't like kombucha and I probably won't ever make anything in this book, but it was really interesting to read through!
This is a beautiful book worth reading just for all the pictures. Interesting story form the author about the drinks and background. The recipes seem fairly simple, and the results look very tasty. Lots of pictures and simple instructions.
Interesting little book full of information about making drinks with seltzer and fermentation. I'd never heard of water kefir before this book, and now I've made several batches. Much easier than kombucha. :-)
Beautiful book on a food subject I have not yet explored! It definitely inspired me to give Gazoz (and general fermentation) a try, and to me, that’s the sign of a good cookbook.
