William Wegman follows his usual use of dogs to tell a story in this fun children’s book: My Town Wegman. This book follows a student dog, Chip who is caught in a bind when he needs to finish his report that is due tomorrow. The problem is Chip doesn’t even have a topic for it yet. He decides to go to town with his camera to try to find some inspiration for his report. At the end of the book Chip finds the inspiration and help he needed from the people around town in order to finish his report. Wegman does an outstanding job once again by creating a “dog’s world” to tell yet another fun story for children.
This is a great book to include in the classroom. Children will love getting to follow Chip around town and getting to see all of the other dogs in the town as well. Wegman’s use of the dogs really grabs the children’s attention and keeps them interested in the story. The students know that by the end of the book Chip will find a solution to his problem but it is fun for them to see how he gets there. Teachers can use this book to show students that you can find some inspiration and motivation behind things you see everyday. Children will love this book and it would be a very good one to bring into the classroom.

A cute part of a collection of books I gathered for students in a unit about dogs/animals and themselves.
