I do not need some man to come riding in on a stupid white horse to save me, thank you very much.
When I run into a teensy weensy bit of trouble, who should show up but Aiden – my high school nemesis. Unfortunately, Aiden doesn’t realize he’s my high school nemesis. Nope. He doesn’t even remember who I am. Gee, thanks.
Suddenly Aiden is everywhere, claiming he’ll protect me. Do I look like I need protecting? But when Aiden speaks to me in that deep, sultry savior voice, my knees wobble and I forget my name.
I better get to solving this trouble I’m in, so Aiden will move right on out of my life. Only he says he doesn’t want to move on. He wants to stick by my side forever. Not happening.
But like my pops always says Love will OUT.
A Hero for Hailey is book 1 of the romantic comedy series Love will OUT but can be read as a standalone.
D.E. Haggerty is actually just plain old Dena, but she thinks using initials makes her sound like one of the cool kids. She was born and raised in the U.S. but has spent the majority of her adult life abroad living in cool-sounding places like Istanbul, Heidelberg, and The Hague. She has job hopped from military policewoman to lawyer to B&B owner. She finally jumped off the job hopping bandwagon a few years ago when she decided to turn her addiction to romance novels into a career. If anyone has ideas on how to turn a love of wine into a job, she's all ears.
P.I. Hailey has her camera out and is taking pictures of a cheating husband when she’s caught red-handed by none other than her high school crush, Aiden. He’s a police detective now and insists she tell him what she’s doing outside a motel room window. Add insult to injury, he doesn’t recognize her, even though they’ve run into each other over the years since her humiliating high school years. Aiden and his friends took pleasure in teasing her. She never forgot what he did to her and naturally holds a grudge. She’s in trouble and he’s taking it upon himself to ‘rescue’ her, like a knight in shining armor. As if. Hailey can take care of herself. But that doesn’t stop Hailey’s heart to thump out of her chest when he talks to her in that sultry voice of hers. She’s conflicted big time and she better figure it out fast because if she’s not careful, he might prove to her love will win out.
A Hero for Hailey is a hysterical romantic comedy with a snarky heroine and a charming hero. D.E. Haggerty takes the high school crush and adds a new spin to this very popular second-chance romance genre. Hailey is a snarky heroine with a big chip on her shoulder. She has a lot to learn about love and Aiden is more than willing to be her teacher. The witty sparring between these two had me laughing hard. The dialogue is fresh, modern with plenty of sarcasm. The romantic tension is layered throughout the plot and had me whipping through the pages. I finished this in one sitting. Yes, I couldn’t put down this gem of a romance. If you love snarky, independent heroines, you’ll love A Hero for Hailey. Highly recommend!
Disclaimer: I received a copy from the author in the hopes I'd review it.
This was a fun, sexy, entertaining start to the Love will OUT series! Hailey is a strong, independent, self-sufficient woman, harboring a long-standing crush on a high school classmate. One who just happens to not remember her... or does he? When trouble lands on Hailey's doorstep, Aiden takes it upon himself to be her protector, but not without some strong feelings on the matter from Hailey herself. While the romance between Hailey and Aiden blossomed rather quickly, I had to ask myself, did it really? I mean, if my high school crush suddenly appeared back in my life I'm not sure I wouldn't have acted the same and jumped right into things! Not to say Aiden wasn't a little overbearing when it came to wanting to protect Hailey, when she was quite capable of taking care of herself, thanks to her "uncles", because he was- just a bit. But luckily he wasn't too domineering, or there would have been trouble. I love the relationship between Hailey and Suzie- they were more like sisters than friends. And I loved the crew at McGraw's Pub- Hailey's lucky to have such a great support system of people who love her! Phoebe is a bit of a mystery and, like Suzie, I look forward to learning her secrets! I have a feeling there are more crazy antics to come from this group and it should be an entertaining ride!
What a great way to start a series!! A Hero For Hailey was the first book in D.E.’s Love Will OUT Series. It was full of laughs, a little bit of mystery, and lots of love!
Hailey was really good at her job and she was about to pay the price. Why was the only person available to protect her, her arch nemesis from high school? All he did back then was make her life miserable, how could he help her now?
Aiden wanted a chance to prove he was the man for Hailey. What she thought she knew about high school was only partly true. Could he get her to see just how much he cared before it was too late?
It was so good! A great adventure of finding love with the person you least expect! The humor was on point and I completely binge read it! The uncles...they were amazing! I am definitely looking forward to more!!
Life has been a bit crazy and I was in the mood for something that would make me laugh and take my mind off of the world around us, even for a little while. I have had great success with this author's books and this one was no different. I found myself chuckling at the antics of all of the characters, the puns/jokes at the beginning of each chapter, and watching Hailey and Aiden's romance blossom.
I think what makes this story such a success is the myriad of characters and their personalities. It just all clicks. From Pops and the "uncles" to Suzie, the klutzy best friend. Then there is Phoebe, the new hire that has a mysterious past. And we can't forget Aiden, Hailey's high school crush and maybe she is Aiden's love too....only time will tell.
The relationship between Aiden and Hailey does move quickly, but it isn't as if they don't know each other, it has just been a few years since they saw each other. But I enjoyed the banter and watching Aiden try to protect Hailey when she probably has training that could rival his. Their relationship is steamy but when you wait many years before coming together, I can imagine the chemistry is off the charts.
I can't wait to read the next books in this series. A note at the end noted that the second book will be about Phoebe. I'm intrigued to discover what she is hiding from her past.
A competent PI, Hailey has a great life, with one exception, a long-time crush on a man who doesn't know who she is. But then when Aiden shows up her in life again, everything changes. A good mystery but it is the characters and relationships in this story that make it wonderful. Hailey was raised by her Pops and his best friends...her uncles. The humour is pervasive and funny. I didn't like Hailey's best friend who is a bit stereotypical and persistently, annoying and clumsy. But the rest of the book is so good, I will be reading more from the series.
When most of the books that come my way are geared toward the 12 and under crowd or are fully Cozy, it turns out that romantic comedy is my true guilty pleasure. Few authors capture the comedy of romance better than D.E. Haggerty. Her latest book, A Hero For Hailey, the first installment of the new Love Will Out series, demonstrates this so well. From her signature chapter lead-ins, that are laugh-out-loud funny in themselves, to the antics of relatable characters, who either remind us of someone we know or make us wish we knew someone like that, this book is a good time read.
Hailey and her best friend Suzie are partners in the PI firm, “You Cheat, We Eat,” which pretty much says it all about how they feel about romantic relationships. In the course of her latest case, Hailey bumps into her high school crush, Aiden Barnes. Though she can’t forget the bullying she endured from his clique all those years ago in high school, her flame is still burning bright for the tall, hunky cop and he seems oblivious not only to their shared history but also to her identity. When one of her cases may have given her a stalker, he shows up again, only now he isn’t oblivious to any part of her and is intent on keeping her safe until they can get to the bottom of the mystery. Having learned to take care of herself from a bevy of “Uncles”, Hailey isn’t having any part of being protected. It would also be a lot easier for her to maintain her distance if her friends and family weren’t so keen on throwing them together.
I will be first to say that maybe the romance between the MCs is a little fast and seriously steamy, but then they are making up for lost time. Hailey is plucky, independent, and a little bit cynical, while Aiden is solid and straightforward. They make a cute couple and it is enjoyable to watch them try to come together while trying to solve the intrigue that is surrounding them.
The true gem of this book, though is McGraw’s Pub, Hailey’s home away from home. This is her stomping grounds, the place where family and friends come together to make her life miserable in all the best kinds of ways. The nosy, klutzy, well-meaning Suzie and shy newcomer Phoebe play off the barely concealed over-protectiveness of Hailey’s barkeep father and his ex-army poker buddies in hilarious and unexpected ways. Hilarious for the reader, not necessarily for Hailey and Aiden. Fantastic characters all!
Fun, Mystery, Romance. This book is a great start to a new series. I can’t wait for the next book due out in January.
Note: There is strong language and adult sex scenes
Now most time police and P.Is dont really get along, so just imagine now if said police officer that catches you is non other than your high school nemesis. Yip, that's right P.I Hailey gets caught red handed snapping pics of a cheating husband by non other than her high school nemesis Aiden, who happens to be a police detective wanting to know what she is doing creeping outside a hotel window with a camera. Oh and did I mention he doesnt even remember her! If this regretfully meeting was not enough Hailey finds herself in a spot of trouble and unable to shake Aiden from insisting that he help protect her - as if she needs a man to be her white knight, though he does make her silly with his smooth dark voice.
••
This book was EVERYTHING! I can not tell you enough what a cute funny story this was if this is the start of what Haggerty has planned for the Love will Out series we are all in for a massive treat! I absolutely loved the hilarious back and forth between Aiden and Hailey, this couple was just so entertain to follow. I am a huge fan of an independent strong female lead and that was Hailey in buckets, after being raised by her dad and his friends.
••
I really liked Aiden's character and that he has actually alway had feelings for Hailey but he was just to chicken to tell her how he felt, but he has always felt bad about the way his friends treated her. I absolutely loved that he wanted to protect her now even though she could quite easily kick his butt. Their chemistry was just such a perfect mix if sassy snark and steamy promise. I have to say Haggerty has added some of the most hilarious secondary characters I have read to date, I loved both the group of uncles and quirky Suzie.
••
A hero for Hailey is a brilliant fresh take on the second chance romance mixed in with a strong snarky female lead and a romantic swoony hero with an element of suspense and mystery to keep you hooked from page one. This is a definite and strong recommendation from me!
Filled with slightly nutso characters and with a fast-moving storyline, the story about Hailey and her high school crush Aiden was a fun romance read.
Raised by her ex-military dad and four uncles, Hailey has learned a lot of unconventional skills like how to hotwire a car and how to shoot just about every legal weapon (and some illegal weapons) out there. She puts these skills to good use as a kick-butt PI. Focusing on cheating spouses, she makes a decent living and makes use of all those skills. When she runs into her high school crush while on a job, she's devastated that he doesn't even recognize her.
Aiden actually never forgot the feisty girl from high school that all of his popular friends bullied. He has always regretted the fact that he wanted to be cool more than he wanted to stand up for Hailey. Once he recognizes her, he realizes he has the chance to make amends and pursue the girl he always secretly wanted.
Hailey is a kick-butt heroine - she's independent, sometimes crass and unapologetic. Aiden is a bit of an alpha caveman, but in a good and loving way. Hailey's take no prisoners personality challenges Aiden at every turn, creating amusing situations and crisp banter between the pair. Throw in the mysterious Phoebe and quirky, no-filter Suzie, and you have a romantic comedy interwoven with a mystery.
Four stars for this genre-blending romance.
This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
Hailey McGraw's mother left when she was twelve years old. She has been raised by her father and several "uncles" who are her father's best friends. She grew up over her father's pub. After college she decided to become a private investigator. The office is just Hailey and her extremely klutzy, but loving friend Suzie. Hailey stays busy with cases about cheating spouses and insurance fraud. Things are going well until she enters her office early one morning to find it totally trashed. She calls the police for help and who should show up but Aiden, who was her big crush in high school and is now a detective. He and his friends tormented her during those years. Aiden is just as handsome, if not more so now, and he doesn't seem to recognize her at first. Aiden tries to tell Hailey he really liked her in high school, but couldn't admit it due to peer pressure. Hailey wonders if they can have any kind of relationship anyway because her father has always run off boyfriends in the past, saying they weren't "worthy of her". Hailey may live on her own at age 31, but her father and "uncles" still have a big impact on her life. I found A Hero For Hailey to be utterly charming. There is mystery, romance and lots of humor. Each chapter starts with a humorous text. Along with that you have lame jokes from the "uncles" and poor Suzie's slapstick stye humor. The mixture of action, suspense and spicy romance makes for a perfect blend. The novel is a fun, quick read that will leave you wanting more. Lucky for us readers there is a second book coming soon in the Love Will Out series. Phoebe, who is a mysterious character in this story, will get her own turn next. I have previously read Knee Deep by D.E. Haggerty and I will continue to look forward to more of her lovely novels.
A GREAT start This is “laugh-out-loud” book about a private investigator that gathers evidence of cheating husbands. When she runs into Aiden, a police detective, he doesn’t recognize her from high school. She learns the truth about that period from him, and he pursues her since she’s the girl he secretly wanted and still wants. Phoebe and Suzie are super secondary characters that add charm and humor to the story. Wonderful characters, story, and writing. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Be prepared to laugh, sigh, and smile a whole lot as you read this fun P.I. book. From unrequited high school crush to the present, Hailey has lusted over one guy. When he pops back into her life (and he's a cop) she's furious that he doesn't even remember her! This time things go a little differently. Hailey's P.I. business is a surprising source of amusement, as is her "family" life. Wonderful characters, hints of mysteries in the lives of people around Hailey, romance, and and suspense combine to make a fun book that was hard to put down. Nice to know more books in the series are on their way!
A Hero for Hailey is my surprise smash for the year. I had no idea this author was around; I lucked upon this book, decided to read it, and walked away thoroughly impressed. It has a fantastic cast of quirky characters who could (or maybe should) have their own books. The H and h are funny, create steam, and you know you will be seeing them again. A mystery drove the storyline, and it all made sense without being far-fetched or overly dramatic.
Hailey has an intriguing private detective firm specializing in insurance fraud and catching cheating spouses in flagrante delicto. In doing her job, she runs into her old high school nemesis, Aidan. He doesn't remember her, which infuriates her even more and gets the engine running on the story. Bit by bit, we learn more about their history and learn some fascinating truths about things that are not always what they seem.
Aidan is charming and sweet, Hailey is feisty and hilarious; combined, they are an incredible duo. Let's not forget Suzi, who struggles to walk and not fall (I feel ya, Suzi, I have the same problem), the mysterious Phoebe, and all Hailey's "uncles," and additional characters that just leave you chuckling. I believe the follow-ups to A Hero for Hailey will continue to be delightful. This author has a sharp wit and flair for creating humorous scenes that you can easily envision and laugh about while enjoying the romance.
This is my favourite story for this year! It was fun, plenty of heat & the bit of suspense that kept me guessing. I loved the characters, they would brighten anyone's day and the way they looked out for each other, it was a family I had to admire. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I received an ARC for an honest review
I am so pleased to have a chance to read Haggerty's latest and start to a new series Love will OUT. Honestly, I had a hard time choosing a rating for this one. I had no problem picking it up and binge reading it even though I've been in the worst reading slump I've had since blogging. I laughed a lot, felt engaged and interested... but there were some things I didn't care for.
Let's talk likes though: Female PI that is actually good at her job. Don't get me wrong, I love a good bumbling, fish-out-of-water, character but Hailey's uncle-bestown talents were a fun addition. Aiden reminds me of a non-Italian Joe Morelli from Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. He is sweet, blushes, admits when he is wrong while still having a bit of an obnoxious (and tiny bit hot) alpha streak. The sex scenes were appropriately hot, if a bit fast for my taste, and left me wanting more of Aiden. The Uncles and Pops were so much fun and I really wanted to have more time with them outside their protective modes. The bad jokes were on point and had me snickering constantly.
But as fun as this was there were some big things I didn't like. I wasn't crazy about the first person POV in Hailey's story. It was clearly meant to be funny and approachable but I found myself missing the polish of third person and a strong desire to see the other parts of Hailey. I came away feeling I didn't know her very well even after reading 200 pages in her head. Aiden and Hailey's past was a questionable road block that wasn't resolved well enough for me. Even the overarching mystery/threat was a bit of a stretch for me. Granted, I am a disagreeable harridan and not always willing to bury the hatchet.
Last, (and I know better because I've read and enjoyed Haggerty's nod to slapstick humor) I felt the excessively clumsy friend, while funny, ended up being repetitive. I wish we had spent more getting a deeper introduction to the characters. As it stands, I'm not Suzie's biggest fan.
Truly though, I enjoyed this book. I think out of all the potential romances to come out of this series, I'm looking forward to Phoebe's story the most. Mysteries abound! If you are looking for a romantic comedy then definitely consider Hailey and Aiden's story!
**I voluntarily read and reviewed a review copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I liked the premise of this book, but didn't really enjoy the execution. I don't get the main male character at all. During high school he ignored her "for her own protection", but never stood up for her or acknowledged her. H cherished the dog tag she made for him enough to wear it while he was away in the military and even afterwards, but he never tried to locate or contact her, even though he was a police detective and could have located her easily. He runs into her years later and doesn't even recognize her, but suddenly he wants to date her and develop a relationship based on some unseen, unacknowledged secret torch that he's been carrying for her all along. Then the main female character and her sidekicks were just too silly and clueless for words. Won't read any more of this series.
D.E. Haggerty has written a 5-star book. Hailey has run into her high school crush Aiden when she was doing a job. She is not happy about seeing him again. Hailey and her best friend Suzie own You Cheat, We Eat Investigations. When her office gets broken into, Aiden shows up and she wants to know why he is there. He tells her he doesn't want to see anything to happen to her. She tells him she can take care of herself. Aiden wants to take Hailey to go on a date with him but she doesn't want to have anything to do with him because of the things that happened to her in high school because of him. They end up talking things out and start seeing each other. When she is on a job with Phoebe at a hotel, she sees Aiden with another woman. She sends him a text and asks "if he wanted to get together later?" He sends one back saying he couldn't he was working late." Her phone has several missed calls and messages from Aiden that she has ignored and he storms into her office and she let him have it for telling her a lie. She said she saw him with the other woman the night before at the hotel. He tells her that it was his ex-girlfriend and she wanted advice about her husband. Hailey tells him that she wanted him back from the way she was acting and always touching him. Aiden tells her that it is not like that and to prove it for them to go out on a double date. Hailey picks her dad's pub for the date. The date does not go well. Hailey proved her point to Aiden. When they leave Aiden notices they are being followed. He drops her off at the police station and tries to catch who was following them. Hailey gets a man that comes into the office and wants to know how she handles the photos she takes? She tells him what happens with them. Things are calm for a little while. Aiden comes to see Hailey at her office and he has a dog with him. He tells her the dog is for her. Hailey and her dog Lola are at home and she hears a beeping sound, she thinks it is her phone but it not. It is her security system. Someone has broken into her house again. She takes Lola and goes into the bathroom and locks the door. The person is a man and he tells Hailey he knows she is hiding in the bathroom and for her to come out and talk to him. She asks "what he wanted?" He tells her he wants her camera. She knows the voice and it is the man that came to her office asking about her process of the pictures she took. As she is talking to the man, the police show up, and one of the police officers tells her she can come out. She asks "How do I know you are who you say you are?" Aiden said you would say that. Call him and tell him, Officer White is here and you need to verify his identity. No need, I'm here said Aiden as he walks into the room. Aiden tells her to come out of the bathroom. When she and Lola come out, Lola goes to Officer White and gets a belly rub. Aiden tells Hailey, the guy that had Lola well it was Officer White. Hailey finds out the man who came after her was after a picture of his face that she took and did not know she took. This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.
I received a free copy of this book and I am leaving my voluntarily and honest review.
A Hero for Hailey is an all-new romantic comedy from D.E. Haggerty about a female P.I. who is being targeted and the male police detective who happens to be her high school crush that she never truly got over and swears to protect her. I giggled a lot throughout this book at Hailey's best friend and her father's friends who act as her uncles. I struggled with the connection between Hailey and Aiden as I did not feel the chemistry between them. The story is told solely from the female perspective and I have come to learn that I am not a fan of this style of narrative but this is not to say that there are not people who will enjoy the story.
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This is a new to me author and i very much enjoyed this little taste into her world of writing.
Hailey is a PI who tends to only investigate insurance scams and as her company "You Cheat, We Eat" suggests, they also look into potential cheaters after, usually the wives, come in and ask for help.
Aiden is a local detective and was the boy at school of which Hailey had a major crush and was teased about b his friends at school. When they first bump into each other when she is taking pictures for a case, Aiden does not recognise her. However he soon starts posing up and wants to prove to her that she has changed and he wants to get to know her.
Hailey has her best friend Suzie who does not apologise for being nosey and she is also very much a clutz. Lots of laughs come from this character. We also get to meet phoebe, who remains very much a mysterious character, but will have her story in the next book.
Hailey and Aiden get close fast, but Hailey is a little reserved and Aiden is persistent, he knows what he wants. He is also another Alpha male along with her father and her father's former army buddies who are her hoary uncles. Her mother left her when she was little which has also left issues for her and her father.
As the mystery to the break ins and written notes intestines, Aiden and her family step up to protect her.
I really enjoyed the telling of this story and look forward to seeing what secrets that Phone is hiding in the next book.
A Hero for Hailey is full of mystery, laughs and a great group of characters.
Hailey is a PI, she is kind of a loner, wasn’t the popular girl in high school. She spends time at her father’s bar with her four hilarious uncles. I truly loved her character. She is fun, hilarious, quirky, plus she is a BA PI! Aiden was a star quarterback in high school, Hailey’s crush and now he is still insanely gorgeous and a detective. Hailey and Aiden cross paths again and Aiden doesn’t initially recognize her, but when he does things start to change…
I loved the banter between Hailey and Aiden. I loved their chemistry, their history. Aiden’s protective side and Hailey wanting to be independent and do everything for herself. The two of them really balanced each other out and they made a great team together.
Not only were Hailey and Aiden lovable characters, but even the secondary characters in this book were amazing. Hailey’s best friend and business partner, Suzie, is hilarious and I can’t wait to know more about her story, their new hire, Phoebe, has some secrets and I’m dying to know more! Plus, Hailey’s father and her uncles were hilarious additions and cracked me up the entire time.
If you’re looking for a rom com that has a little mystery and some amazing characters this is definitely one to check out!
This is a wonderful feelgood story, it is the first book that I have read by D.E. Haggerty but it certainly won't be the last.
What happens when Aiden Barnes, the boy that Hailey had lusted over in high school, who had nicknamed her "Heartsick Hailey" and made her schooldays miserable turns up years later up as a sexy police detective and to add insult to injury doesn't recognise Hailey,
Hailey and her childhood friend. dippy Suzie, run a P.I. agency "You cheat, we eat" specializing in uncovering cheating husbands and wives.
This is the hilarious story of Detective Aiden Barnes trying to protect Hailey against a stalker, feisty Hailey not trusting him but still drooling over him, clumsy Suzie putting in her two pennyworth whether it's relevant or not and eavesdropping at doors, Hailey's Pops who, owns McGraw's bar, and his ex army buddies, her overprotective adopted uncles Lenny, Barney, Walley and Sid who have looked out for Hailey since her mother walked out when she was twelve years old, woe betide any man who messes with Hailey.
The chemistry between Hailey and Aiden is electric, all the characters are all brilliant and the dialogue between them hilarious.
I loved the jokes that the author added to the beginning of each chapter. This is a standalone book but I look forward to reading Phoebe's story and the mystery of her past.
I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily leave this review.
If you're looking for yet another book recommended by me where I say I couldn't put it down, look no further than this one. I'm pretty sure the main character, Hailey, is as sarcastic as I am. Possibly even more sarcastic than me! Which means Hailey is one of my favorite characters ever. And Aiden isn't too far behind her because WOW! Talk about making a girl swoon!
One of the best things about Hailey though, is that she doesn't swoon easily. She's no damsel in distress and she can more than take care of herself. Being a PI means that she has taught herself a lot, including how to work alone. As a detective, Aiden understands investigating though, so it's easy to see how these two end up teaming up.
The conversations and the sparks between Aiden and Hailey genuinely had me cracking up and at times just full-on cackling loudly. The chemistry was palpable, there was humor, romance, and of course action. The secondary characters were also pretty fabulous. All this to say, I absolutely recommend this book and will be eagerly awaiting the next one!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This novel is a great read. With funny jokes, witty characters, and an amazing plot, you will be carried away into the life of Hailey and Aiden. Hailey’s family is so much fun and absolutely crazy! The culture she was brought up in, forms who she is today, which is a phenomenal being. Her friends are also funny. Her bestie is super clumsy and picking herself up is like a second thought. This book will take you through the surprising adventures of Hailey’s life. When you think that there’s no way it gets better, something else happens. There was so much happening at once but surprisingly it didn’t seem like much. I loved this book as you can see and I would recommend to anyone looking for a silly read with the best jokes. And I forgot to mention how each chapter starts. There is always some text from Hailey or from someone else which is a hilarious joke. The way Hailey carries herself is inspiring and I know for a fact that I want to be all her good qualities when I grow up.
I wrote this voluntary review in exchange for an ARC copy.
What a funny, lovely story this is. The chapter header jokes were a great idea, I rarely read them, to be honest, but I loved every one of them in this book. The characters were unique, hilarious and had me laughing out loud imagining the group of them interacting. I thoroughly enjoyed every word.
Hailey is an extremely independent, PI woman who is still a bit traumatised by her high school years and the crush she had on Aiden; so, when he turns up in her life, after years, things get interesting. I really got involved with the plot and the shenanigans of her Dad and his life long friends, who Hailey consider her Uncles, I loved them all. Her best friend and their new employee, Suzie and Phoebe, are a perfect addition to the comedy cast of characters.
There was some drama and a lot of intrigue going on between the pages too that made for a real page-turner. I can’t wait for Phoebe’s story!
4.5 Stars This is a kick off to a new series. I'm already chomping at the bit for the next book in the series already! I'm normally someone who prefers dual points of view, but I honestly can say I hardly noticed. This has a wonderful cast of characters you'll easily fall for. When it comes to Aiden I thought I was going to have to warm up to him, but he proved his high school reputation doesn't fit him any longer. He is going to make you swoon several times. This book is going to make you laugh from start to finish. First you have Hailey's best friend who is a lovable klutz. Then Hailey's dad and her uncles had me in stitches. Then Hailey herself makes you wish you were friends with her. I know I wish I was part of the group. I can't recommend this book enough. It has heart, heat, and humor. Then throw in a little mystery and intrigue for good measure.

A Hero for Hailey is about Hailey and Aidens journey. The plot is entertaining, has humor, some suspense, a little mystery, and a dash of sexy time. It's an enemies to lovers romance.
Hailey is stubborn, independent, at times she can be dense, often because she's in denial. She grew up with tough men so she knows how to handle herself, or so she thinks. She tends to be naive, especially when strange things start happening to her business, home, and car.
Aiden is protective, caring, and making up for past mistakes. He has always liked Hailey, but let his ego and image dictate their relationship, or lack there of, in the past. Now that he has a second chance at being with Hailey and the man he should have been, he's not letting her out of his sight.
I appreciate that the rift/hate between Hailey and Aiden didn't drag on, it allowed the story to progress at a good pace. Hailey and her friends, Suzie and Pheobe, we're a fun trio. They would make for a fun girls night. Phoebe has me the most intrigued and I'm looking forward to reading and uncovering all the mysteries surrounding her.
Ok so this 31 year old woman is scarred by being bullied. Not unbelievable bc bullying leaves scars. However she literally broke into the dude’s locker and stalked him like a lunatic. Of course people bullied her. If anything it seems like he should have issued a restraining order. And she’s so mean to her BFF. Constantly thinks mean things about her in the “she’s great but” variety. I do not like this girl at all. And one dinner with Aiden saying “sorry I didn’t stop the teasing” and she’s like “I need to let this go.” She’s awful and Aiden can honestly do better.
Love will definitely out. Such a good read and great characters, all relatable. Loved that they were the hot jock and drama nerd in high school and didn't hook up then, their story was more realistic because of this. I will have to keep reading this series. I have to know more about Phoebe, her book is next. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.
Hailey and Aiden have a connection and the chemistry is undeniable between regardless how hard they try to act like it’s not there. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flows smoothly throughout the pages.
I received a copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
