Rate this book
To distract Elsa from a gala being planned in her honor, Anna fills her schedule with fun bonding activities. But what starts as a distraction turns into an adventure when they find a secret door leading to passageways within the castle walls—and the door locks behind them, trapping them inside!

Then, as they explore the narrow passages and sealed-off rooms, looking for an exit, spooky things start to happen. Echoing laughter, mysterious patches of cold air, odd arrangements of clothes and furniture…what could be causing all these strange events?

With Elsa’s powers and Anna’s ingenuity on their side, they’re more than a match for whatever they find—if they can just find it in time!

Packed with humor and heart, Phantoms of Arendelle will keep readers guessing right up until the last page.

My rating: Two stars

My review:
This book is a no-no. It was a fast read, but I knew it was aimed at the younger audience. Unfortunately, the main focus of the book was searching for spirits/ghosts/phantom. When I started the first page, it already mentioned them catching a phantom. That already made me uncomfortable, but I pushed myself to read the whole book. The only reason I’m not giving it one star is because Anna and Elsa gave me a warm feeling when they (Spoiler!) both were throwing a banquet for each other and they were unaware the other was doing so. (End Spoiler!) They cared about each other a lot, so that’s pretty much the only reason I’m leaving two stars. Sisterly love.. 🙂

Content warnings: a mention of Anna reading a book about mythology and a few descriptions of what she read; “Spiritual” Content: mentions of phantoms/ghosts/spirits throughout the whole book, Olaf describes what phantoms experience, the main characters all search for phantoms.

In general, I just wouldn’t let my younger sister read this.

I saw this as an ebook at our library and knew that A loves anything to do with Frozen so I knew she would enjoy this book. I was a bit wrong it did not really hold her interest as there are no pictures and with only being three she loves her picture books still.
I think that the older children that are reading chapter books would enjoy this one a whole lot more as of course it has chapters. Anna is planning a gala for her sister Else but she needs to distract her so what better way then leading her on an adventure that soon turns them to be locked inside the castle walls. Oh no will they be able to get out? And who is behind the laughing that they hear? You have to read that to find out. To me it wasn't scary and for those that are wanting a mystery that isn't scary this would be something for them.

This book was ok but it wasn't great. It was a little confusing in places but it was cute. It was really short and easy to read. The idea of it was fun but the characters weren't exactly true to their personalities in the movie and not all the characters from the movie were included. I enjoyed it and fans of Frozen that just can't get enough of it would probably enjoy it too.

I'm an adult reader who just likes kids' books!

This story is about Elsa and Anna planning surprise parties for each other at the same time, which causes a lot of confusion at the palace! To keep one another busy, they end up exploring secret tunnels within the castle, arguing about whether or not ghosts really exist.

The book is mainly about the sisters and their exploration of hidden rooms and halls, but there's also a lot of Olaf in there, because he's also exploring the secret tunnels so he can meet ghosts and become friends with them. So if you don't like Olaf, you might not like this book. There's no Kristoff or romance at all.

The book is a bit spooky but not really scary, because you're reading alternating chapters that go from Anna and Elsa to Olaf and back, and you're getting both sides of the story and you're not really surprised the way the characters are. It was cute. I could see it as an episode of a cartoon series.

Nice

A quick read but an intriguing mystery all the same. Good for young readers who don't like long chapters or avid Frozen fans.

My nephew is absolutely OBSESSED with Frozen. Especially with Olaf. So when I saw this book on the kindle unlimited list, I knew I had to get it for us to read at bedtime.

Anna and Elsa both want to give a huge party for the other as a way to celebrate being together again. For Elsa, it's making up for all of the years she locked herself away from Anna because of her magic, and for Anna, she wants to help Elsa experience everything that she missed out on.

Of course, hijinks happen as they tried to keep each other from figuring out what's going to take place. Olaf finds a secret passage that leaves to parts of the castle that had been sealed off (I believe that what he found is the rooms that their parents used, but had been sealed to maybe protect the girls from the reminders of their parents?) for many years. He is on the hunt for a ghost, thanks to a book that Anna had read about phantoms.

I could go on, but I'd probably give the whole book away. Olaf cracked me up every time we came across him, and the girls spent a lot of time getting to know each other again. It is a chapter book that is probably more suited for readers who are over the age of 10.

I'm looking forward to reading other books in this series with my nephew.

This was a very cute adventure with Elsa and Anna. I expected Olaf to play a part in the phantoms, and he did, but I was not expecting there to be a hidden castle within Arendelle's castle, I thought that was a cool concept and did more world building.

I borrowed this copy from the libby app and was able to read it in a couple of hours.

A mix of fun and mystery to kids

I love reading this to my 5 years old. 2 views of same situation are well narrated and interesting to follow. Mystery at the climax is unexpected but a beautiful ending.
