Diploma from the College of Preceptors, Oxford; Taught English for 15 years in India and 9 years in Ethiopia; Published four books in the teaching of English language, grammar and Phonetics; Published in Kannada 47 novels, 5 anthologies of short stories, 6 anthologies of essays, 2 anthologies of poems, 28 plays, 17 radio plays and a travelogue; Published in the Tulu language a novel and a collection of poems translated from English.
Became a primary teacher at the age of 17 but still continued to learn more.

ಮೂರು ಜನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಒಂದು ಕಾಣದ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತ ಹೋಗಿ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಆ ದೇಶನವನ್ನು ಹೆಂಗೆ ತಲುಪುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆ ದೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದಾಗ ಅವರ ಸ್ವದೇಶ ಯಾವ ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ತಲುಪಿತ್ತು ಎನ್ನುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಇರುವ ಕೃತಿ. ಗಟ್ಟಿಯವರ ವೈಚಾರಿಕ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮೂಡಿದೆ.
