Stephanie Mirro writes bold, adventurous fantasy for readers who love a little heat with their heartbreak, and maybe a splash of chaos. As a proudly neurodivergent author, she creates fierce, complex characters—neurodivergent ones included—who tackle impossible odds armed with sharp wit and questionable life choices. When not crafting mythology-rich worlds or morally grey heroes, Stephanie can be found bingeing heist movies, searching for her next caffeine fix, or accidentally setting things on fire in the name of creativity.

I was provided with an advanced copy of this book to read and provide an honest review.
Her Majesty’s Fury by Stephanie Mirro is the second book in the Immortal Relics series. I have not read the previous book nor anything else by Stephanie Mirro. Even though I have not read the first book in the series I was still able to follow what was happening, thought it would have been helpful to have a bit more background information in relation to certain elements in the story.
Imagine you are a young woman at a college studying, working and you also have the most amazing boyfriend anyone could ask for. Life is great, life is normal. Or at least it is until suddenly your world is shattered, everything you thought you knew is completely wrong. The divine, the gods, they are all real and exist. As do vampires, known as Bacchae, oh and of course witches are real too and surprise, your mum was one but you never knew. Well, this is Serafina’s, or Sera for short, new found reality.
After she discovered the amulet of the god Bacchus, which contained his essence, she is always connected to him and can hear him in her mind. But her world has also been total chaos since she found the amulet. Her mother was actually a witch and her boyfriend, Hiro, was brutally murdered in front of her by a group of Bacchae. This group was led by a psychotic and power hungry bacchae known as Danae.
Sera is intent on getting revenge for Hiro’s murder, but that is not all she must do. Sera must face the new threat that Danae intends on bring down on the world and all of the humans. Total control and enslavement of the human race, just like her own personal herd of cattle, with Danae reigning as Queen over it all. But in order for Danae to achieve her goals she must steal Bacchus’s amulet from Sera.
With the help of her best friend Nora, Renee, a formidable witch, and Theo a police detective who is more than meets the eye, Sera will have to race against time to stop Danae’s evil plans for world domination.
Her Majesty’s Fury is a delightful new spin on the supernatural world. I found the concept of having the essence of a god or divine entity held in an amulet or an ancient relic to be quite original and entertaining concept. This YA Fantasy novel was a nice relaxing and enjoyable read. I could switch off from the real world and immerse myself in the story and characters.
Will have to try and locate a copy of the first book in the series while I await the next book!

I took a chance on book 1 in this series ( Birth of the Bacchae ) and was so glad that I did. When I finished it, I immediately pre-ordered this book, and now I'm anxiously awaiting the third.

It's hard to go over the plot in a mid-series book without being spoilery, so I'll just say:

If you're a fan of urban fantasy with a hit of mythology, this is definitely a series to follow. Recommended for fans of Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series, Genevieve Cogman's Invisible Library series, or Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampire series.

A masterful sequel to Birth of the Bacchae, Her Magesty's Fury features both new and oiginal characters fighting for their lives in unexpected—sometimes exotic—locations. This book boasts more vampires, witches, gods, and humans than have ever been in the same place at the same time, so get ready to pull an all-nighter or call into work because you won't be able to put this one down!

I had just read the first book in this series recently, and I will admit to a little hesitancy reading the second book. I was worried it wouldn’t be as good as the first. I needn’t have doubted; this one is an excellent sequel. Sera and her friends are still on the hunt to bring down Danae before she becomes even more powerful, but it will take them on hunt for more allies themselves. I loved how full of action this book was, and I quite like the characters. There were times it felt a little bit too much of an easy solution or fix, and there was a little too convenient “my feelings weren’t what I thought they were” (cant say much; spoilers) plot point. These really didn’t spoil my enjoyment of this book, however. This is an excellent urban fantasy that I definitely highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

What a wonderful sequel to Curse of the Vampire! The first novel does a wonderful job of setting up a baseline/introduction for this world that allows this second one to filled with more action packed scenes. This sequel picks up right where the last one left off and doesn’t miss a beat from there.

The author does a really good job of making sure that the choices our characters make actually make sense. What I mean is some of the events in the first book left our characters with a lot to deal with. In this follow up, emotions and reactions felt normally paced. The author didn’t rush these characters into something just to move the plot along. It was made to feel real and believable instead instant healing/love/recovery.

Great follow up and I can’t wait to continue with the series.

Oh, and I’m gonna need a Danae novella. LOL. I’m a sucker for villain origin/POV stories.

Her Majesty’s Fury is the second book in the Immortal Relics series by Stephanie Mirro. Sometimes sequels fall flat, but in this case, the second book is even better than the first (and I loved the first!)

The world building in this novel is just incredible. I love that this is an urban fantasy with elements of Roman Mythology and other religions mixed in. It makes for an awesome read with lots of things to easily visualize.

Characters new and old are here to fight for their lives again. The characters are expertly written to make us fall in love or hate them. The characters that have returned are growing, which is such an awesome thing to see in a sequel.

I’m really excited about this series. Vampires, witches, ancient Gods…a plot that is fast-paced and hard to put down. Stephanie Mirro has done everything right in this book and I can easily give it five stars. Highly recommended.

I will start off by saying, I'm usually a bit skeptical to read sequels. It takes a special author to make multiple books as fascinating as the first book. Author Stephanie Mirro not only made a truly fantastic sequel, but blew any expectations I had for this book. It was completely genius!! Is a 10 star rating possible?? I would give it for Her Majesty's Fury. I read this book within 2 days, absolutely entranced with this high action story. Mirro must have done extensive research to create such a strong world of mythological figures fighting the villain in the story. She created excellent characters you can't help but fall in love with and of course, hate the villains. Her Majesty's Fury is a MASTERPIECE. I can't wait for book 3!!! A must read for fans of fantasy, high action books, and fans of supernatural or mythological themes.

I am so disappointed by this one. I love the first book but Sera became insufferable in this one. I think I would have liked it if the romance was way way slow burn since Hiro was brutally murdered in front of Sera. Like trauma sis

This is book two of the Immortal Relics series and the main character is Sera (Serafina) Finch, an archaeology graduate student, who in the first book, found an ancient amulet which she felt drawn towards on the dig site she was at. It was accompanied by a secret room full of ancient scrolls and when she read one out loud, she released an ancient supernatural creature, called Bacchae. Sera is now aided by the ancient god Bacchus, the Roman god of Chaos, to stop the Bacchae from regaining their full powers. They are the creatures who spawned all the lore of vampires, we all know about now. There is a Bacchae witch called Danae, who claims to be the Queen of the Immortals and is responsible for the death of someone she loves. Sera must search for allies to help in this battle to come.

Sera wants to kill Danae, before the mortal world is destroyed, but the Queen has her own dark alliances, in this battle. She and all the Bacchae were created in the image of Bacchus, the God of Chaos. So things are going to get a lot worse, before they can ever get any better. Sera gets attacked by her apartment and is assisted by the same detective who questioned her after the amulet went missing, Theo Pratt. But there was something very different about him! It seems he is also aligned with a god. Xolotl, the Aztec god of death and lightening. Her best friend Nora is with her, but doesn’t seem to be fazed by any of this! If Danae can get the amulet, she can restore the ability of the Bacchae to recreate and thus grow her army, to take over the world. She is one of the Eternal Bacchae, created from the very blood of a god. The most powerful are the Eternals, but the level of power decreases as each generation, as such, of Bacchae are produced.

It seems that one of the Bacchae Lorenzo’s supposed loyal soldiers, Solomon, has fallen for the very mortal Nora, when he is supposed to have been trying to get the amulet back. Lorenzo is Danae’s right hand man, and Solomon who is under Lorenzo in the pecking order, has been getting used as Danae’s boy toy. He is having second thoughts about Danae’s plans for the changes she wants to bring about which would result in the end of the human species. Solomon has been researching to find out the truth, with Danae having told all the Immortal Bacchae that the god has cursed them, not that it was the fault of the Immortals who hadn’t heeded the god’s rules and sought powers far beyond their grasp! Sera and Nora go to the safehouse of Nora’s aunt, a witch and a seer, Renee, but it seems her protections aren’t quite as strong as she thought!

The waning of the Immortals and Eternals powers, caused by a spell Bacchus and his witches cast some two decades ago, will allow some advantages in the fight to come, as many will not be accustomed to not having their full range of powers available anymore. But Danae has a plan to regain their powers and will do all she can to get the amulet from Sera and carry them out! Chaos is coming and both sides will need to fight for what they believe in and want. Add in the desire of one to link with the Underworld, then you know that Hell on earth could be coming and that will certainly mean more Chaos than anyone could ever expect! Another great read in this series and I can’t wait to see what might come next. I would recommend this to all who love a bit of adventure, ancient Gods, supernatural beings and a battle between them and mere mortals. Fantastic storyline, that just gets more involved, the further you get into it and just never stops ramping up the action. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Okay, I take back what I said about Birth of the Bacchae because the author delivered one heck of a sequel in Her Majesty's Fury.

So just to catch us up with the protagonist and what went down in Birth of the Bacchae...

I don't think I had any lofty expectations coming into this book but when the story for Her Majesty's Fury started coming together and I got a glimpse of how the author's writing matured, I was over here like...

While it was a little disarming to read Sera's feelings to Hiro changing, as the story progressed it made sense. Sera was a changed woman after the experiences she'd been through but that change in feeling didn't stop her motivation to avenge her mother's or her fiance's death- things just took on a new meaning. It's not that unusual after having lived through a traumatic event like witnessing a murder for feelings to evolve. And I think what made me appreciate that change more was the slow burn of the relationship between Theo and Sera because it was paired so well with the world and story being fleshed out around them. If you want to see growth as a writer, Mirro shows that off real well in Her Majesty's Fury.

And now begins the wait for the publishing of Descent to Hel...

I am really enjoying this series! Her Majesty's Fury flows with a great mix of emotion, action and monstrous rage, and adds some rather divine characters to the story (see what I did there?).
As I said in my review of Birth of the Bacchae, I am more a gothic vampire/mythical monster fan, having grown up on a diet of Hammer Horror and Ray Harryhausen. But I found myself getting very hooked on the main character Serafina and her rather rough journey. It has steamy, smouldering moments but they are not overdone and compliment the narrative rather than distract. I daresay fans of the genre will absolutely love the romance!
As with many sequels, this book does expand on the first, bringing in new allies for Serafina and more deadly peril. I particularly liked the new allies as they were more my traditional geek-out kind. Mythology is where you find the greatest gods and monsters, unsurprisingly, and Stephanie Mirro mines the legends well and then makes the characters her own.
An aspect that pleased me was that Serafina did not forget that "incident" at the end of the first book. All too often something bad happens to the hero and they spare barely another thought as the story/film progresses. Serafina does dwell on it (naturally) but the book doesn't get bogged down in it. This is an exciting read after all, not 300 pages of melancholy.
I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the urban vampire genre who are looking for a fresh twist on the mythology, and also think it has plenty of broad appeal so worth checking out by anyone in need of a good read in this strange time we're living through.
Looking forward to the third!

*I received my copy from netgalley*

This is the second book of the series and I found that it definitely pushed the story forward. I really like how Mirro weaved together a lot of different mythologies. As someone who got a degree in anthropology, I really love with different folklores are intertwined like this. And I love vampires, so it was a win-win.

The only problem I really felt with this story was that Theo was keeping too much from Sera. I hate when characters aren't straightforward when they are going against the big bad, though I know I do it in my own writing as well. I also felt that there needed to be more with deal with the death of another character in the first book (I won't spoil that) but everyone handles that different, and she had to stand up to face the big bad. I also wished we got a little more information with the gods that they did come across, as I felt it was a little too light.

All in all, I definitely recommend this series for anyone who loves folklore and vampires!

Her Majesty's Fury not only delivered as a second book in an amazing series but brought so many new ideas to the fantasy realm!
I loved Theo's development into a more concentrated character in the storyline, he is awesome!
And then Hel...I cannot wait for her story.
Mirro continues to captivate me with her in depth descriptions of scenery and plot line! The character's emotions and relationships portray a realistic build that I can easily relate to. Nothing is won overnight in this story, you get to see the work put in to everything which I really appreciate.
I love this story and can't wait to see where it goes next!
And that twist at the end...geez.
If you haven't started this series, do it!

4.7 out of 5

Danae continues to escalate her plans for world domination, while Sera deals with the aftermath of Book 1. Sera seeks out new allies in her fight against the Bacchae.

What I liked:
It is action-packed, with great pacing, and a slew of new characters to add to the ones from Book 1. The second book raises the stakes in a satisfying way. And there is a bit of romance in it.

What I didn't like:
The beginning is a bit abrupt. So it took me a couple of chapters to reorientate myself. Once I got back into the story it was a great ride.

Overall:
A worthy sequel. The final installment has been added to my TBR.

Some interesting characters with a plot that pulls several of the old world gods together. The story develops in a creative way to explain the making of vampires and their resentment of the human world. When an eternal seeks to over throw the ruling body and become queen, the gods must rally to take her and a vampire army down.
I read the story over several nights, but found the closing chapters to drag in an unexciting manner as the author tried to bring it to a close.

Even better than book one! Sera finds herself without Bacchus, on a quest with a human infused god to find other gods. Meanwhile, the vampires have revealed themselves to the world and anarchy reigns. Can they save humanity?

I really like the character development in this one. I like watching Sera be herself without Bacchus. I enjoyed the relationships that developed and cant wait to read book three!

Serafina and Bacchus have teamed up and are on a quest to defeat the Bacchae, especially Danae. It was full of action, danger, as Serafina and her allies hunt for more to help them fight and stay alive. The story and characters were good and it was hard to put down. It was rather addicting and I had to see how it ended. Would Sera be successful? Just fun.

A great read, first time I read a book where the gods and goddesses of old are portrayed like they are in this book. If you like action, suspense, dry humor and some love thrown into the mix this is the book for you. The mix of the past and present worlds is art fully executed.

A fun read, a twist on the usual vampire story. I love that we have an array of smart female characters. No helpless half witted women in this story. Can't wait for the next book.

Uhholy group! The mortals are a lot more fearless than I am. Good to read about strong, intelligent women. I really enjoyed reading this story, I want the 3rd book too. A lot of action, a little sexual tension, humor(sort of) and friends. Nothing better!
