Most girls wouldn’t be excited to walk into a prison. I’m not most girls.

After spending the last eighteen months training as a Healer’s assistant, I’m ecstatic to start work inside Blakemore Supernatural Prison.

Then I make the mistake of reading the thoughts of my very first patient.

What do I hear?

I’ll be dead by Friday.

Now I have four days to save him. Four days to learn who I can trust and who I can’t inside these walls.

Normally, a gorgeous, flirtatious vampire isn't the one I would go to for help.

Kurt is much too charming. Much too tempting.

And it's much too convenient that he shows up in the middle of an attempted prison break.

Something dark is happening inside Blakemore Prison.

And if I can’t find out what it is, I might lose myself to the same darkness.

Having spent the last eighteen months training as a Healer’s assistant, an enthusiastic Kalli arrives at Blakemore Supernatural Prison with every intention of making a difference. On her first day however she inadvertently reads the thoughts of one of the inmates who claims that he’ll be dead by Friday. Before long Kalli finds herself filled with a sense of foreboding that all is not as it seems at the Prison. Vampires are having their blood drained and showing signs of being beaten and poisoned. Realising that someone has an agenda, Kalli must ascertain who to trust while navigating newly emerging powers that pose a danger to all those around her.

Patient X is a the first book of a duology which is a spin off of the Blakemore Paranormal Academy series. Fans familiar with the prequel books will revel in the return of the vampire Kurt who the last time we saw was nursing a broken heart. To take his mind off Cade, he volunteers to go undercover to investigate the sinister occurrences at Blakemore Prison. His mission sees him cross paths with Kalli, a healer with whom he feels an instant connection. Before long however, his mission has gone haywire. With his life hanging in the balance as well as Kalli’s, can he convince her to trust him in time to save them both before it’s too late?

This was a tense, fast paced suspenseful introduction to a promising series which will leave readers itching to get their hands on the next book. I for one can’t wait.

In this book we get to see my boy Kurt, but just a little glimpse of him. A tiny tease. This story focuses on Kalli and her start to her new job working as a healer at the Blakemore prison. Things are not what they seem and neither is she. I really need more, because the mystery this hints at has my wondering what is going on

◦ I've received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ◦

I've read this so fast like never before. 80+ pages just went on like I've had the biggest hunger ever. This is definitely a new type of story for me. Not the ol' story of vampires where girl meets boy, boy meets girl and fall in love and happily ever after.

This is about prison, about other supernatural beings, about a girl who has a weak heart and falls so easily for the danger, even tho she said she's never been a bad boy type of girl. Even tho, the book does or might have a love story, that doesn't unravel so quickly and so fast, it's full of danger, lies and secrets and uncontrolled powers.

Kalli might have her heart on her sleeve, but the power she has inside, no one knows what she is capable of. Unknown power flows through her and is waking up just now, leaving her in shock and trying to understand what is happening. Through the pages you can see how she changes as a human, from being afraid to finally fighting back and giving her best. She definitely isn't your typical girl that needs saving, or running or freezing when danger is around. She is so aware - so awake.

My first encounter with Kurt (I've read this isn't the first time he is on the books), I can say that he gives me the vibe of a very old mannered vampire but still with some cocky attitude and attractiveness that you can't resist.

The book was easy to read and things unfolded in my mind like a movie. It felt like I was there living the story, not reading it. Considering English isn't my first language, and this book was the first one I've ever read in English (I can say I've lost my virginity when comes to reading books in English 🎉) it was SO easy for me to read it. I've loved every single page and I couldn't stop reading it until I was over.

ONE DELIGHTFUL ADVENTURE!!!
Vicious vamp! Sullivan not only hit the motherload, she does it with all the passion and unique style, revving up the intensity and adrenaline, blowing this baby wide open, riding the wind and watching it burn, wrapping this gem up sleek, shiny and tight. Lines blur and boundaries crossed, limitations are stretched and bent, booting this baby forward, kicking it into overdrive, slamming it into a tailspin with an intoxicating culmination. Anarchy runs rampant and havoc is rife, rolling out the drama, turmoil, intrigue, danger, spiraling suspense and intense situations, along with a double dose of evil intents while dodging calamity, you have one intoxicating adventure. Satisfaction is an understatement, this baby comes packing a punch that'll bring you to your knees, keeping you riveted on a razors edge. Maneuvering through formidable trials and challenging tribulations, noting the shocking twists and wicked turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. The characters are authentic and original with qualities and traits that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow magnificently. Remarkable job Sullivan, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

(5+ stars) - the beginning of an exciting new series!

Kalli has just started a new job as a healer in Blakemore prison. She has the ability to pick up on people's thoughts when she touches them, and she's not sure what to do when she picks up on one of the prisoners she treats thinking he'll be dead by Friday.

She also has the ominous sense of something not being right in the prison, but she just keeps finding more puzzle pieces instead of answers.

By the time Kurt is brought to the infirmary, things begin moving from creepily threatening to complicated danger level. Especially since she's begun manifesting some kind of power she's never had before.

This is such an awesome setup for the new series! I can't wait to read more!

*Content: not surprisingly for a prison story, story involves some threats of rape, along with death & violence - but nothing gratuitous, graphic or gory

*This novella was originally designed as a promo or teaser for the series, so it has a to-be-continued kind of ending

Patient Zero is Book 1 in the Blakemore Supernatural Prison series by Sullivan Grey. This is a superbly written story in the Blakemore world. Kali, Our MFC, is a healer at the prison (her ideal job). She is an interesting and likeable individual who has three powers -- healer, mind reader, and a power she is just developing that she does not know what it is or how to control it. Kali is beginning to find out that the prison has many secrets. Kurt, an individual we meet towards the end of this story is a vampire and a wonderful character. This is a fast paced, page turning read that pulls you in and leaves you wanting more as you finish the last page. Anxious to see what the author has in store for Kali and Kurt. Received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.

I've always enjoyed reading the books in the Blakemore series. They have a way of pulling me in and not letting go until I finish the book! This one follows the same pattern. As has been the way with this world, there are lots of twists and turns and I loved discovering them.

While healing, Kalli finds out that apparently one of the prisoner's is going to be dead by Friday. This is a prequel to a new series, and I am eager to read more about Kurt and of course Kalli!

After training for 18 months to be a healer's assistant Kalli starts work at Blakemore Supernatural Prison. She deals with unexplained injuries, poisoning, a riot and corruption, previously unknown powers, meeting a vampire named Kurt , and that is just her first week Patient Zero by Sullivan Gray is an enjoyable book to read and I was lucky to have a chance to read it. I received this book through bookfunnel. This book ends in a cliffhanger and I hope to be able to read the next book in the series. This book is available on Amazon

Brilliant short book to start building the world for the next book.
I was immediately intrigued by the character of Kalli and found myself falling for the same traps that she did.
The book is fast-paced and throws you in the deep end but there's no struggle to keep up with what's going on.
There's mystery and danger and you're kept on the edge of your seat throughout.
I can't wait to read the next book and find out what happens with Kalli and Kurt and the other characters who have been introduced.

Great start to a new series 🤩

Who wouldn't love a book with Kurt in it?, nobody in their right mind 😉... Set in the same Blakemore world, this prequel introduces Kalli, our new FMC, whom I liked immediately, she's passionate about her work and decided to do the right thing, no matter what 💪👊#goodgirl... The problem is, she's developing a new power she wasn't supposed to have and can't control, and now is the bad boys' target... Can't wait to know what will happen next!!! 😳🤔💕

More Kurt!! Woohoo! Have been waiting to read more about the wonderful, down to earth, cheeky vampire that is Kurt after meeting him in earlier Blakemore books and this scratched the itch perfectly!
Kalli is great, a healer with a heart and the slow burn friendship between her and Kurt is cute and realistic. Fab world building and beautifully described characters make this short novella an awesome read, perfect for that space between school drop off and pick up!

This is a super quick read (novella) that sets up for the next book in the series (a novel). There’s more to Blakemore Prison, and Kalli than meets the eye. There’s an unexpected hero (sort of) and villain. I’m curious to see what’s really going on with Kalli and the prison.

This was the first time I have read a book by this author and it definitely won't be the last! I love the main heroin Kallie. She's smart, kind, determined, compassionate and a badass.

I cant wait to read the next installment and especially read more about Kurt *cough, cough, hot vampire*.

Good

Definitely more young adult than other prison books and i am completely ok with that. The language is fairly clean and while sexual themes are hinted out there really isn't any. I really like the characters and it is a fairly quick read. Hoping the next book is a hea.

I love this world! I really enjoyed the Blakemore Academy Series and I can tell I will love this one, too. It's heartbreaking watching Kalli lose her naivete and kind heart so soon after gaining her new job. So excited to see Kurt again, though! This is a vampire that deserves a HEA! As always, Sullivan Gray produces a well written, well edited, interesting story. Can't wait for more!
