** Ivy's Delta is the 4th book in the Delta Team Three Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
Award-winning author Elle James grew up as an air force military brat. She received her work ethic from her rock-solid father, her creative streak from her artistic mother and inspiration from her writing partner and sister, Delilah Devlin. As a former member of the army reserves and a current member of the air force reserves, she's traveled across the United States and to Germany, managed a full-time job, and raised three wonderful children. She and her husband have even tried their hands at ranching exotic birds (ostriches, emus and rheas) in the Texas hill country. Ask her, and she'll tell you what it's like to go toe-to-toe with an angry three-hundred-and-fifty-pound bird and live to tell about it!
Her adventures in the army and air force reserves, and the wild antics of her life on a small ranch in Texas give her fodder for mystery, suspense and humor in her writing. Elle writes gothic, paranormal mystery for the Harlequin Intrigue line and paranormal romantic comedy for Dorchester Publishing. A former manager of computer programming and project management professionals, Elle is happy she now has the opportunity to pursue her writing full time.
Ivy’s Delta is book 4 in the Delta Team Three series by Elle James and various authors and is part of the Operation Alpha World, Delta Team Two series by Susan Stoker.

When Ivy finds herself caught in the crossfire between her family and their dangerous enemies it is up to Duff and his team to find her. The story leads us on adventure filled with intrigue and romance as Duff will have to decide if the reward of being with her is worth the risk of falling in love.
A little too insta-love for me. But I loved the characters. Big ol' gruff Duff finally met his match--and I just wanted a little more. Loved how instrumental the heroine was in rescuing herself. A quick-easy read.
With Ivy's Delta Elle James ticks all the boxes: a gruff stoic hero, a fiesty resourceful heroine, drug cartels, hard hitting fast paced action, narrow escapes and best of all a grand love story. Great reading!
Magnus "Duff" McCormick is cranky, a man of few words and lots of scowls. He loves his Delta brothers but even they don't know about the heartache he lives with everyday. Ivy Fremont walked away from her life as a high profile prosecutor and has decided to embrace her free spirit side. When Ivy's life is endangered not onc but twice, Duff leads the charge to rescue her not only because that's what he does but because for the first time in many years his heart is engaged. Having someone really car about her for the first time in years has Ivy going all in with her trust and her love.
This series is part of the Operation Alpha World, Delta Team Two series by Susan Stoker.
Blind date madness for Ivy and Duff, even though they had met before for a brief kiss. Then there's a drug cartel to deal with along with Duff's guilt from his first marriage. Her mom is a jerk for the most part.
Ivy Fremont, once a successful attorney and daughter to the Senator of Texas, is the proud owner of her own business. It’s small, not extremely busy, but it pays the bills. It also allows her a sense of worth, freedom, and success that being an attorney never accomplished. Plus, it makes her mom mad that she gave up a position at a prestigious law firm to become a business owner.
“Duff” McCormick, Delta Force team 3 member, is one of the last to succumb to love. After losing his wife eight years ago to an accidental death while on their honeymoon, he vowed to NEVER love again. He enjoys his dirt bikes and his job. Duff believes his life to be complete. Until...
Ivy and Duff meet as Ivy literally “falls” into his arms at Camelot Rare Bookstore. Ivy kisses her “hero”, jumps out of his arms, and never sees him again. Duff searches for her, but doesn’t find her. Duff’s teammates arrange a blind date for him. He doesn’t want to go, but feels he owes it to them. His blind date...no other than the woman who kissed him and ran. The date goes well, until it doesn’t. Duff leaves abruptly, doubts himself, then ends up rescuing Ivy from a kidnapping. But kidnapping is the tip of the iceberg for this couple. They are running for their lives from Texas to Costa Rica and back!
Action-packed and chaos! Twist and turns abound, some predictable while others were not. I thoroughly enjoyed reading these stories with an underlying theme. Although the first three books can be read as stand alone’s, I recommend reading them in order for the full effect. Each story is unique, involves a rescue of sorts, are inter-related, but do NOT end in a cliffhanger! Awesomeness abounds! I did think this novel was a little more suspenseful and action-packed than the others, but ALL of them were enjoyable. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
I enjoyed this more than the previous two books... but, I did find the character development lacking. And for me, a big turn off in a read is a partner/love/wife who died tragically. For me, if I were the new love interest... when it had been made patently clear that he did, wholeheartedly, love the dead woman... I would always have the ghost of her in the back of my mind. I do get that life does go on... but he had been completely sold on the ideal that Katie was his one true love... and if she had lived, she probably would've been... but along came Ivy. Yeah... see, this is always my problem with this trope... it's the whole Titanic thing once more for me.
Also, the following extract completely foxed me... either it is poorly written, a mistake made during the editing process or I have totally misread it...
“Vance,” Duff turned to Ivy. “This is my girlfriend, Amy Smith. Amy, Vance Tate. Vance and I met six years ago in a bar we frequented outside Fort Bragg, North Carolina when I was stationed there.”
“And we kept in touch ever since.” Vance held out his hand to Duff first.
Duff gripped his hand.
Vance pulled him in for a hug. “We played a few rounds of sand volleyball at that bar. We were a pair. No one could beat us.”
Duff nodded. “Many tried.”
Vance let go of Duff’s hand and reached for Ivy’s. “Amy, you said?”
Ivy glanced at Duff before answering, “That’s right. Amy Smith.”
“Nice to meet you, Amy. About time Magnus found him a woman. You must be special if he finally succumbed to the fairer sex.”
To me, it reads wrong wrong wrong...
Also, I do worry about Duff's common sense... why didn't he realise that about Vance? It was the first thought that popped into my head when he was first mentioned.
But... still an alright read. 2.5 rating for me...
Overall Amanda rating: A+ So I have been reading this series and enjoying the books for the most part up until this book. This book was pure perfection. I am not sure if it was the storyline, the plot, the characters, or even the author, but this book has got to be my favorite out of the series. Again in this series, each book is written by a different author. In other books that came before this one, some were better than others. How was this one better? For one reason, the writing. This author made the book come alive from the pages. I had a hard time putting this book down. I think that I have loved the character "Duff" from the earlier books but this author did his story justice. Duff- Strong, silent, man of few words, daredevil, hard from past hurt, some understanding of his character happens when we see the reason he hides his hurt. Ivy- free spirit, clumsy, and stubborn to boot. The perfect little fireball for Duff. Their chemistry, passion, and character growth (separate and together) were just amazing. Ivy's mom had some character growth during the book as well, I think that as a reader I appreciated seeing the character growth in the secondary characters, like the parents, that I didn't see in previous books. The steamy scenes were well written, the character "Vance" was pretty easy to read from first meeting him. I think if I was to change anything, I would make him less easy to figure out. Overall this was a great read and the best book in the series.
Hee hee heee. Poor little big bad Delta Force soldier Magnus, aka "Duff", finally re-meets his perfect match when set up on a blind date by one of his teammates' wife. It's totally captivating watching this reckless and fearless warrior resist falling. Elle James has a way of making the characters zing to life. One has to love the description of a tough guy main character who "mounted the motorcycle, and let his lip curl in a hint of a sneer". Yummy. Can our heroine, Ivy, a strong woman who deliberately gave up the stress of her high powered legal career, be a good match for a man with a sad past who is afraid to feel again? To Ivy's amazement and embarrassment, her blind date is the guy she'd spontaneously kissed in her friend's bookstore. "Just a few short days before, she'd ended up in his arms. Strong, thickly corded, muscular arms. And they'd kissed. Sweet Jesus..." As expected, nothing goes smoothly and chaos ensues. What did you expect when Deltas , cartels, and bullets clash! And holy cow, talk about those two having an interesting third encounter! No spoilers, but they both walk away from it with matching bruises... This book is a well written, panty melting, plot twisting, exciting read! and ooooo...what a teaser of an epilogue. We find out that "Jangles" has a girlfriend....reading book 5 (Hope's Delta by Riley Edwards) is now a MUST... I received an ARC of this book to review.
In Ivy’s Delta Ms. St. James does a remarkable job with this military romantic suspense chronicling the romance between Ivy Freemont and Magnus “Duff” McCormick. She left her job as a prosecuting attorney after a witness is murdered due to her testimony. She moves to Killeen and opens a gift shop. She comes from a renowned political family. Her deceased father was a Texas Governor. Her mother finished his term and after several terms became a U.S. Senator. Duff is a Delta Force soldier. Eight years ago, his wife died in a drowning accident while on their honeymoon. He is despondent since then. He meets Ivy and is smitten. But he wrestles with survivor’s guilt. Then Ivy is kidnapped because of her mother’s position in the Senate. The villains (cartel) plan to use her as leverage so her mother will pass laws reducing illegal drugs. Will Duff and his team save Ivy? How does the Senator react to Duff? Will they admit their love for each other? To find out you must read this book.
This book is a captivating read capturing the magnetism of love at first sight and coupled with suspense. Ms. James’ mastery of literary devices such as, characterization, dialog, dual POV, and descriptive language garnered my attention from the start. Ms. St. James did not disappoint me with this book. In fact, the opposite is true. I so want to read more about the next book in the series.
This is book four in the Delta Team Three series a multi author series set in Susan Stokers world and I have to tell you I absolutely love how all of the book for the entire team have been released at the same time and that they are by such wonderful romantic military suspense authors In this fourth book we get Ivy Fremont and Magnus “Duff” McCormick
Duff is the snarly member of the team he would do anything for his brothers but he definitely isn't the cuddle one and no matter how many times his team try to set him up on dates he wants no part of it after all he has never got over the fact that his wife drowned on their honeymoon. Then his team introduces him to Ivy she is the daughter of a senator who followed the family business and became a high priced lawyer but now she has walked away from that and has opened a gift store something that finally makes her happy they first meet when she falls from a ladder and into his arms in Gwen's book store and the he remeets her when his team set them up on a date. Now danger is stalking Ivy has she becomes a target of the cartels due to her mothers hard stance against their business and they kidnap her. Will Duff and his team get to her in time to save her or will he lose the woman he loves once again.
I have become addicted to this series, and was more than ready to read this talented author’s book, the fourth in the series. A series centered around members of Delta Force Team 3 stationed in Texas and how each of them are finding their soulmates. All strong, independent woman. This time the story belongs to stoic Duff/Magnus McCormick. A man of few words and seems that his answers always involve a grunt. Unbeknown to the team, he carries deep sorrow and scars in his heart. When Ivy Freemont literally falls in his arms and kisses him before disappearing from his life, or so he thought, she somehow cracks the walls around his heart. Imagine his surprise when she’s the blind date that his friends set up. A date that dove faster than a submarine and by chance ended up having him saving her life. From the start to the end it’s an action packed story filled with bad guys, hunky good ones, another kidnap, a trip to Costa Rica and a senator wanting to stop illegal weapons. Take a deep breath because you’ll needed from the moment you read the first page to the last. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
At the end of Gwen's Delta we see Magnus 'Duff' McCormick save a women from a fall in Gwen's bookstore. In response she gives him a kiss that unsettles him, in this book we find out who that woman is.
Gwen has set up her best friend Ivy with Duff, it's a party for someone leaving another team, but all of Merlin's team will be there. Ivy is unsure about all of this blind date stuff and ironically so is Duff.
In spite of the eyes on them they dance and talk, but then Duff leaves abruptly. With Duff gone, Ivy doesn't want to stay around either. Merlin escorts her to Gwen's car and then returns to the bar. Neither of them notice Duff is still hanging around and it turns out it's a good thing he was.
After Merlin returned to the bar, Ivy is attacked.
This really is just the beginning for Ivy and Duff. He insists on staying with her to follow concussion protocols. In the process they both learn a lot about each other.
However it's Ivy's mother that sort of puts some clarity on Ivy's attack. It seems the senator is causing waves regarding sales of firearms to send across the border.
Plenty of action, suspense and sizzle in this page-turning read.
The Delta Team series by Susan Stoker comes the special forces series in which this book is written by Elle James is number 4 of the book from the Delta three team. The adventures begin with Magnus McCormick aka Duff a strong, fighter, adrenaline solider that last has been put on hold as he lives and breathes Delta. His brothers aka Team mates and women mainly Gwen establishes a blind date with Duff , which is the hardest to read as the silent type and moody and not much words. Introducing Ivy Fremont a senators daughter a late governor daughter comes a independent, smart and funny lady wanting a easy life and concentrating on her gift shop after quitting a high powered job at a top law firm in Dallas. The adv chasing cars entures begin and expect the unexpected and action packed with suspense and romance and laughter . Highly recommended reading loved the characters and romance the story. a song that reminds me of the characters is chasing cars - the wind and the wave
Magnus McCormick, his memory of his first wife, made him guilty. However, Magnus McCormick forgot his wife when Ivy Fremont was involved in a kidnapping attempt. At first, Magnus and his team thought it was a one-off situation until it happened again, and Ivy Fremont's mum admits to Magnus McCormick's boss that she has received death threats. The readers of Ivy's Delta will continue to follow Magnus McCormick to find out what happens.
Ivy's Delta is the first book I have read of Elle James, and enjoyable. I would read another book in this series, and I engaged with the plot and the characters. I love Elle James portrayal of her characters and their interaction with each other throughout this book. Ivy's Delta is well written and researched by Elle James. I like Elle James description of the settings of Ivy's Delta that complemented the plot of this book.
The readers of Ivy's Delta will learn about the stress that a Prosecuting lawyer can suffer during a court case. Also, the readers of Ivy's Delta will learn about running a small business.
Elle James always craft wonderful suspenseful stories. Duff was an enigma I wanted to get to know from the beginning. His gruff, nonspeaking character was so interesting to me that I wanted to know more about him. He met Ivy with a “bang” and that stayed with him for hours— trying to figure out why now with his feelings not knowing he would soon see her. HIs second meeting was a pleasant surprise where you are able to glean more about his character. Honestly, after working with his team for years he never revealed anything about himself but he reveals his story to Ivy which to me seems out of character. His personality seems to change after meeting her and you see someone who is fighting but quickly becomes invested into the relationship. I was great seeing these layers peel away from him. Ivy and Duff make a great couple. She is very strong in her own right, very mart, and very independent. She did not hesitate to go toe to toe with him. Great story that I highly recommend.
Nobody likes "blind dates"! Ivy & Magus aka " Duff" began their love story on a blind date. It started off alright, then Duff left Ivy embarrassed in front of her friends and his teammates. Ivy left the date then was shortly saved by Duff from an attempted kidnapping.
Ivy & Duff have guilt from the past: Ivy carries guilt from a client being killed and Duff fells guilty from his wife being killed on their honeymoon. This has made it hard for them to date, built relationships and to fall love. Throughout the attacks, kidnapping, activities and actions, Ivy and Duff decided to give their relationship a go with the intent to grow together into the future or was it Duff's romancing Ivy throughout the attacks, activities, rescues and times alone.
I received a free copy of this book for a honest review. If you read Susan Stoker series you will enjoy this series. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys romance suspense and military romance books.
Ivy is a lawyer who quit her high-powered job when a case went wrong. Duff is mourning the loss of his wife 8 years ago. The two meet and sparks fly but the meeting is brief and neither knows if they will meet again until they are set up on a blind date and are properly introduced. Their courtship is not an easy one and Duff has a lot of baggage to sort through as well as guilt. He is the quietest man on the team and yet Ivy brings him out of his self-imposed prison one step at a time.
Ivy has been brought up in a political family and she often butts heads with her mother, a Senator. Her mother is threatened and thus so is Ivy and Duff has to come to grips with his feelings for Ivy and the guilt her feels for loving her when his wife is dead.
Ivy is a strong character and she is a perfect match for Duff. She reminds me a bit of the tv character McGyver the way she saves herself from kidnappers. She is every bit the badass that Duff is.
5 stars I received a free copy of the steamy Texas military based novel Ivy's Delta: Susan Stoker's Delta Team 3 Series: Book 4 by Elle James and this review was given freely. Full of action and drama this mildly steamy attraction at first sight novel contains close knit Delta Forces team, an easy flowing story of love and betrayal requiring multiple rescues but ending happily. 8 years after losing his childhood sweetheart and wife Katie in a tragic boating accident on their honeymoon, Army Special Forces/ Delta Forces motorcycle operative Magnus “Duff” McCormick feels the walls he has placed around his heart crack when disillusioned former high powered attorney now eclectic gift shop owner, Ivy Fremont literally falls into his arms. Contains a fair amount of violence but graphic level is low.
"Quiet is underrated." That describes Duff to a T. He's not much of a talker, but he provides quite the lasting impression. Running straight towards the man who's about to shoot you is all about Ivy. Put these two together and you've got the perfect couple, they just have to have enough time to figure it out. Again, this is a quick story, but it's an instant connection and they are working through their feelings as quick as they can. Throw in a few attempted kidnappings, jungle runs, speeding boats, dirt bikes and a gift store and you've got a story that you can't wait to see what happens next. The awesome interaction between the team continues and the camaraderie is a pleasure to keep reading about. Remember - "half a dozen". Definitely recommend.
I received this advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
What happens when authors join forces and write their own story on one of the Alpha Delta man on one team....you get five books, each with their own style and flair brining to life each character which HAVE to be read in order to gain the full experience of each member in the Delta team. The next up is Magnus aka Duff, the quiet, moody Delta who barely speaks more than a sentence finds himself again with Ivy, a woman he met before their blind date and the first woman who made him feel in many many years. He has his own demons and Ivy just may be the one to help him fight them back and move on. Ivy is attracted to the big gruff man and she will need him more than she thinks when she is targeted because of her mother and it will take him and his team to bring her back in one piece. I really enjoyed this read with Duff and Ivy, how Duff finally lets go of his demons from his past and sees his future with Ivy. The story flowed beautifully, the characters were amazing, the steam and attraction was there as well as the suspense and action. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Gwen set her friend Ivy up with one of Merlin’s Delta team mates as a blind date to go to Ugly Mug bar with her for a send off for a teammate. Ivy has never been to a military bar before and is a little reluctant since it is a blind date.. Merlin set up his teammate Duff as Ivy’s blind date. “For the record, I don’t like being setup”. Duff said. Wolf states, someone had to do it. Ever consider I like being alone? Duff grumbled. Yeah but we are hoping a woman can smooth out the ruff edges, and I’m bringing Nori, “she’s looking forward to seeing Duff take the fall for a female” says Wolf. “I’m not going to fall,” Duff muttered. “I don’t even know the woman.” Merlin chuckled. “Famous last words.” This is The Very Basic Beginning to a wonderfully suspenseful romantic story I just could not put down.
WOW!Another FANTASTIC story by Elle! Duff was still grieving his wife, even after eight years since her death. He was considered the grumpy teammate but he never told his team about his wife. Ivy was helping Gwen out in her store when she literally fell into Duff's arms. As the saying goes, the rest is history. It was unfortunate that people were trying to kidnap Ivy because of her mother. The cartel finally succeeded but Duff and his team were sent to rescue her. Ivy did manage to escape and Diff was the one to get her to safety. It was so unfortunate that Duff's old buddy had turned on them. They did manage to finally make it to the extraction point but not before Ivy got shot. Ivy lives and Duff proposed to her. They start working on their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Elle! I would recommend this book.
Duff has been living alone for 8 years since he lost his wife on their honeymoon. He has never told his team about her. He has never considered another relationship until he captured the woman as she was falling off the ladder and she kissed him. Ivy left her life as an attorney and opened up her shop. Her mother is very angry at her for leaving. She just couldn't do it anymore. After she fell into that guy's arms and kissed him, she can't stop thinking about him. Now she is going on a blind date. Neither can believe it when they realize they are being set up. After dancing with her, he panics and leaves. She follows shortly after and is attacked. Duff saves her. They are dating now. While on a date, they are attacked and she is kidnapped. The team is now on their way to rescue her. Will the team find where she is being held? Is he ready for a relationship if he does get her back?
This book was so good!! I love a growly hero with a tender heart and I felt that description fit Magnus perfectly. He has a tragic, painful past that simply had my heart aching for him. This man lit up all the lights on my swoon meter. I also really liked Ivy. In so many ways she was the light to his dark and he needed that. I thought they made a great couple and were truly good for each other. Other than their romance and all the emotions that go with it, the storyline is jam-packed with enough danger, action, drama, suspense and thrills to have you sitting on the edge of your seat. A terrific read and another excellent entry in a series that keeps delivering consistently. I am electing to post an candid review.
Another great book in the Delta Team Three series. The fourth book, “Ivy’s Delta” I could not put down. Magnus “Duff” McCormick who is rather gruff we learn more about his story the part the team does not really know about him. When Duff first met Ivy Fremont she fell into his arms off a ladder and the kissed, not knowing who each other are. When the introductions came it was at there blind date when Duff left rather sudden. It was a good thing though that he stayed in the parking lot for Ivy almost gets kidnapped. From then on I was hooked to find what will happen with these two, with the sparks, and who is behind with the kidnapping. I highly recommend this book.
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.
Ivy's Delta: WOW! Another fantastic story written by Elle James! I loved how Duff and Ivy first met. The magic story but didn't know each other's name. I thought it was great that it was Gwen was the one to introduce them and she didn't know they had already met briefly. I loved how the guys picked on Duff and how they see as a different person when he was with Ivy. Even though Duff freaked out because of his reaction to Ivy and the sparks. He feels he is betraying his late wife, even though she has been gone a long time. I love that he would do anything to protect her and the love. Wonderful story. This is a great series for hot tough men and strong women.
Ivy’s Delta is the incredible Elle James contribution to Susan Stoker’s Special Forces:Operation Alpha series about the 5 man Delta team 3, and it does not disappoint. I had a wonderful time binge reading this series, and just fell in love with Duff and Ivy’s story. Duff and Ivy are set up on a blind date, and it doesn’t go so well. Ivy is later attacked soon after the date and Duff is able to intervene. It turns out Ivy’s mother, the Senator has made some people angry with her latest project and it’s put Ivy in some dangerous people’s crosshairs. Duff and Ivy’s first date ends up going even more sideways. This book was a total page turner from start to finish, and if I could give more than 5 stars I would.
Every since the green-eyed beauty gave him a kiss for catching her after she fell from a ladder, team guy, Magnus ‘Duff’ McCormick kept the memory close and took it out when he didn’t think it’d hurt too much. Ivy Fremont was embarrassed when the handsome guy she kissed in the bookstore was her blind date and more embarrassed when he left.
Sitting on his bike after running out on Ivy, Duff thought about never telling the team Ivy was his first date since his bride died eight years ago. Then he hears a scream, Ivy! Rushing to the voice, Duff sees a man sling Ivy into a car trunk and alerts his team. He has to get her back, not only is she the senator’s daughter, she’s released his heart from its prison! Rating: 4stars
