60-Day Enneagram Devotional #9

The Peacemaker: Growing as an Enneagram 9

Rate this book
The Growing as an Enneagram 9 is designed to help Nines better understand how God created them and how best to use their unique gifts to serve Him and love others. This sixty-day devotional features a full explanation of what the Enneagram is and how it benefits people, followed by a description of what it means to be a Nine, including their deadly sin, sloth, and their greatest strength, gut instinct. Empathetic and easygoing, Nines are motived by peace or inner stability and often go with the flow to keep the peace. The sixty days are split into six 10-day topics that include uniqueness, weakness, strength, pain points, and where Nines go in times of stress and growth.

As an enneagram 9, I was so excited to see a devotional book come out specifically for my type! This devotional isn't one I'm only going to read once. Since reading this devotional, I have learned how speaking truth is a lot harder than I thought. I tend to go with the flow and "merge" with what the people around me want. Ask me what I want for dinner, and very rarely will you get an answer because I am more worried about voicing my opinion and offending someone than actually eating what I want.
Not only are there 60 days of encouragement and growth, I also love how it's in 10 day segments, starting with talking about peacemaking, then about our sin of sloth, our gut feelings (since we're part of the gut triad), merging, and the last two segments are about how we go to 6 in stress (and how it's not all bad!) and to 3 in growth (which is also not bad!).
There's also a lot of great information at the beginning of the book about the enneagram and then specifics about the enneagram 9. If you are new to the enneagram, it's great for you, too! I feel like I understand myself better after reading this, and see myself more like Christ does.

I wanted to read this devotional because I recently started learning about the enneagram and how my personality type effects my spiritual growth. The Peacemaker 60 day Devotional looked like it would help me connect with God daily according to my number. I learned many ways to connect in prayer and scripture that works with my peacemaker personality. I learned to overcome my reasons for laziness and escape methods; anxiety and stress; that my feelings matter; and to serve God as I am meant to. I would recommend this devotional for all peacemakers (or those who have peacemakers in their lives) to help you underself yourself and your connection with God. The Peacemaker 60 day Devotional is wonderful to read and thought provoking.

It has only been this year that I became familiar with the Enneagram. It seems to be a very good tool to identify how God created each of us with unique personalities, ways we see reality, how we feel and how we sense our responsibilities. This personality we develop in childhood, a protection while living in a fallen world. I especially like how the Ennegram can be used as a tool for spiritual transformation. While it does not replace the Holy Spirit, we can use it as a tool to know aspects of our personality that are sinful and need transformation.

This book deals specifically with one of the personalities. While I am not a nine, I appreciated the general information about the Enneagram and what makes it unique. The Bennett points out we use strategies when stressed, insecure, etc., and gives insights into how to work on them. These are sins that beset nines and practical strategies are given to work along with the Holy Spirit on transformation.

I recommend this book to Enneagram nines. It contains good information and practical suggestions to help you become the individual God designed you to be.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.

This was such an interesting book. I originally got it because #9 is my second Enneagram number but mainly because one of our children is a solid 9, and I wanted to connect with this child more. It was eye opening, informative, and wonderful in how it explained to me a little more of this child’s thinking process (possibly). No one is a straight Enneagram but I think there is wisdom to be learned in looking at how people react in situations and how to help move past the troublesome aspects and into more healthy relating.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit but was not under any obligation to write a review. All opinions are strictly mine.

This was a 60 day devo, but I definitely didn’t complete it in 60 consecutive days.
However, the Lord has a way of using what I read for that season of my life.
A lot of believers have opinions that the Enneagram is “one of those things” that shouldn’t be messed with or is right next to astrology. I believe that the Enneagram is a tool that helps us learn about ourselves; our strengths/weaknesses, tendencies, etc. and when combined with an outlook of using your gifts to grow God’s community & your weaknesses to grow closer to Him, it’s one of my favorite things to talk about. This devo hit the nail right on the head about my tendencies as a 9 and how I can learn to love others better. I recommend for your type!

This was a great daily devotional exploring many aspects of Enneagram 9 personalities, including going to 3 in growth, how to be aware of going to 6 in stress, overcoming sloth, and truly leaning into being a peacemaker. I loved starting my day with this book and plan to read it again and again as I lean into my God-given personality.

I had never heard of Ennegram before, but I did enjoy this book. The different personalities and what it all means is something I had never thought about before. I do realize that I have a tendency to give in and do whatever others are wanting. 'Go along to get along' was always my style.

I will finish this devotional book at least one more time to get a better overall perspective. Not everyone is a Type 9, but everyone knows a Type 9 and could benefit from this book. I really did enjoy it.

It was a 4/5 for me.

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

I was first drawn to this devotional because I wanted to take my knowledge of the enneagram a step further and use it to help me grow in new ways, particularly in a personal time of uncertainty and transition. The biblical focus of this devotional, combined with the personal experience of it being specifically tailored to a Nine, really appealed to me and seemed different to anything I’d seen before.

The devotional ended up being even better than I hoped. It was very Bible-focussed, centring each day around a piece of scripture, while still exploring specific aspects of the enneagram in a lot of depth. Prior to reading this, I didn’t have a great understanding of some of the topics covered, like sloth, the gut, and merging, and I didn’t know if they had any basis in scripture. The devotional dived deep into each of these topics and firmly connected them to spiritual growth and who we are in Christ, helping me to understand their significance and how God could work through these areas. It never felt like it was skimming the surface, and instead gave enough space to really dig into each topic.

The ‘shift in focus’ section at the end of each day was helpful for consolidating what I had read, and allowed me to reflect on its application in my own life. It also invited me to pause in prayer and bring these reflections to God instead of just reading and moving on which is often what happens when I read a devotional. I also enjoyed how there were three writers involved; each of them brought different gifts and a welcome shift in tone and pace that created some variety from day to day.

Where this devotional really shone was in how it inspired practical application and tangible change in my life. The days on conflict taught me about the dangers of absorbing conflict, and provided guidance and instruction from scripture on how to deal with conflict in a way that is gentle and kind. This challenged me to bring a hurt to a friend instead of pretending it was okay, which felt like a very big moment of growth in my life! The 10 day section on sloth helped me become more aware of the difference between resting and numbing in my own life. There have been several moments since that I’ve stopped and considered why I’m doing a certain activity, and I’m now more able to recognise whether it’s helpful and restful or not. The section on seasons of stress also stands out, as it prompted me to bring a specific worry to God and receive his peace instead of allowing it to live in my head and overwhelm me. I truly feel like I have come out of this devotional with a far greater self-awareness, and the knowledge, scripture and strategies to keep pushing into spiritual and personal growth.

The Peacemaker will be helpful to any fellow Nines who want to take their enneagram knowledge deeper and gain a greater understanding of who God has made them to be. Its a fantastic source of encouragement, a call to growth, and an opportunity to listen to what God wants to say to you on a personal level. I will definitely be dipping back into it because there is so much treasure within its pages!

The Peacemaker, 60 Day Enneagram Devotional by author Elisabeth Bennet is an unusual and delightful devotional. It is made for Peacemakers and those who love them. Interesting to think that there are some people that care not for peacemakers, but unfortunately, yes, there are some.

Have you heard of The Enneagram Scale? I was introduced to it several years ago. It is a fascinating study on an individual’s character traits and why they do what they do and why they act the way they act or respond the way they respond. When I found out Elisabeth Bennett had written devotionals for the different Enneagram types, I was intrigued.

I enjoyed reading this devotional even though I am not one hundred percent certain about these personality type tests. Each day is short enough to help jumpstart one’s day no matter your Enneagram type. Yes, this is geared to Peacemakers, but it sheds lights on them, too.

I love how she breaks it down into six 10-day topics, including uniqueness, weakness, pain points, strength, and reactions of Nines during times of growth and stress. While I myself am not a Nine (of course, I took the test), I think reading about others’ traits is eye-opening. It helps me learn how they relate to others, and it helps me empathize with their weaknesses and encourage their strengths.

I recommend this if you enjoy reading psychology and personality books. A copy of this book was provided by Celebrate Lit, but I was not under any obligation to write a review. All opinions are strictly mine. It receives a 4 star review from me.

Found SO MANY morsels of goodness throughout these pages - both in regards to the Enneagram as a whole, Type 9s in general and how to navigate my relationship with God as a 9 + an introvert. I didn't end up being as "faithful" to my daily reading as I hoped I would but, since the devotionals are quick reads = I got caught up quick. It was just enough most days, to make me step back and reevaluate where I am as a 9.

I loved alot of aspects here: peacekeeping vs. peacemaking, numbing and "falling asleep to myself", the section on merging was FANTASTIC, and identifying how sloth is more than just being lazy. In a way, it's both reassuring and wildly cool to read about a whole percentage of the population who operates the same way I do on the daily.

Prior to reading this devotional, I've done quite a bit of reading on 9s themselves: being a part of the gut triad, identifying as a 9 AND an INFP, etc. -- This devotional tied it all together in a way that was constructive. In a way that holds me accountable, not only in how I talk to God but how I talk to others, not only in how I move with God but how I move with others.

Great read! Keeping it on my Kindle to reference the billllion highlights I made!

I've been studying the Enneagram for a little over a year now, reading book after book. While it has certainly been life changing, I found myself wanting something more. I was looking for a way to enhance my relationship with the Lord in the setting of the Enneagram and all I had learned. Wow, did this book do just that! The insight into my unique "9ish" ways that are examples of how I was made in God's image has brought me closer to Him than I could have ever imagined. Day one grabbed my attention. Day two spoke into my very soul, showing me a glimpse into the ways in which I resemble my creator. How humbling that the God of all creation thought to give me these gifts to drawn me closer to Him and to show me grace and love in the times I stumble. I found myself reading ahead so often because I wanted more after one day's reading. This devotional is very well organized with easy to read, yet very thought provoking content...all written beautifully. Thank you, Elizabeth and co-authors for this incredible gift. I will cherish it always. I cannot wait to go back to day one and do it all over again!

There are some good nuggets in here and I appreciate the structure of it, broken down into focusing on certain subjects for 10 days. A few things got in the way for me from fully receiving from it. Just some caveats and observations:
1. I got this from the library so I felt I had to get through the 60 days before I returned it, doing several days at a time to finish before my time was up. This is all on me.
2.The author’s bio says she discovered the enneagram in 2017. It’s a bit hard for me to feel she is credible on the subject churning out books so soon after discovering it. I’m not saying she’s not credible it’s just something that I felt and distracted me.
3. Mistakes are distracting for me. There is one day where it says God is not mentioned one time in the book of Ruth. This is incorrect, it is Esther where God is not mentioned. It is a blatant mistake also because right above the mistake there is a passage from Ruth that mentions God 3 different times.

Overall despite the distractions for me, there are some really wonderful reflections and things to be learned.

This book deals specifically with one of the nine personalities. I had never heard of the
Enneagram, so I looked online to see if I could found a test and when I took it I found myself a 9 with a 2. Which, didn't surprise me because while reading "The Peacemaker" by Elisabeth Bennet I found it to be describing me.

This books points out the strategies that nines use when stressed, insecure, etc., and gives insights into how to work on them. The sins that beset nines are described and practical strategies are given to work along with the Holy Spirit in transformation. There are lots of Biblical scriptures to read and study to help you become the individual God made you to be.

The thing I found most surprising is that even through we are to be peacemakers, that doesn't mean we are to avoid speaking our minds and standing up for ourselves. In fact, not doing so is a sin.

This book is divided into sixty days. I will be rereading and studying it in more depth. I read the entire book in one setting for this review. I didn't think I would like this book when I first starting reading it, but I was wrong. I think this book will be a helpful tool to me.

I believe that even if you aren't a nine, you can benefit from reading this book. I read the ebook, but I am considering buying the print book also.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

I just finished this devotional today and honestly didn’t want it to end! If you are seeking a Biblical lens on how your Enneagram Type is a reflection of God’s character and design, I highly recommend this book.

It begins with 5 chapters giving an introduction to the Enneagram. I have been studying the Enneagram for a few years now and I enjoyed Elisabeth’s unique approach by setting the framework of the intro specifically for a Type Nine. The devotional section is divided into 10 day sections that focus on an aspect of the E9 (Peacemaker, Sloth, Gut, Merging, Stress-going to Type Six, Claiming Space-going to Three). Each day is a quick 10 minute read, but it is written with such intentional content that it left me processing all day. There are Scriptures woven throughout the book along with encouraging challenges and prayers to borrow when the words wouldn’t come.

I also really love how Elisabeth partnered with other writers (Alison Bradley and Christine Rollings) to write devotionals for specific days, their voices lent a uniform approach to the book.

I recommend committing to the entire 60 days straight through the first time you pick it up. This devotional will be a wonderful resource I go back to as I navigate the different seasons of life as a Peacemaker. It is a great companion for anyone seeking more depth into their Enneagram Type.

I was desiring a new devotional study that would be directed towards specific ennegram numbers and be scriptually based to help one grow. Being a nine, I was so excited to see that this book ,The Peacemaker, would be published soon. I believed this was what I was looking for and I can’t express enough how it was!

This devotional helped me grow with God’s word and to really understand myself more as an ennegram nine. I was continually amazed at statements and examples that were mirroring so much of what I have also experienced, felt, and thought. The writers took me into scripture and challenged me to grow, and it wasn’t always comfortable to confront and admit issues on some of these days ! I learned so much and know, if you are a nine, you will too! Expect to face truths about lies we often tell ourselves as a peacemaker, how we so often merge with others and lose our voice, and how Satan does use our weaknesses to keep us asleep to what God is calling us to do. Know you can grow with God in taking little steps to healing, dealing with stress, and growing as we speak truth and take action for what God has for our lives.

I encourage you to take action now and read this book as your next devotional study, fellow nines, and be blessed to learn, grow, and be healthier peacemakers!

The enneagram is a new hot topic it seems these days. People are looking to it for answers about who they are and why they seem to be a certain way. Enneagram 9’s are the peacemakers as their title. I am an enneagram 5 with a wing of 6. This means I most closely resemble the characteristics of type 5 with type 6 being my back up. I am definitely not a 9.

But that said. I did learn some about the enneagram and a lot about the type 9’s in my life by reading this sixty-day devotional. I found it easy to read. It contained a lot of information and talked about six topics. Each topic was given ten days to chat about it and expand on it.

A great book to have in your library especially if you are indeed a type 9. But good for non-type 9’s to help you understand the 9’s in your life.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received through Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

This book addresses the Peacemaker, number 9 of the Enneagram personality types. The author discusses their tendencies along with their strengths and weaknesses. Using the form of daily devotionals, she shares how to accept the way you’re made and trust God to help you use the gifts and personality He has given. The sixty devotions are organized into six sections of ten: Peacemaking, Killing Sloth (a big weakness for them), Gut Feelings (the category nines fit in), Understanding Merging (taking on traits of your connected numbers), Dealing with Anxiety, and Claiming your Space. The author writes in an easy to understand way, which helps readers to connect with the material. Even if you’re not a nine, this will help you understand the nines you meet in life. I would like to learn my type and read a book directed to that one. This would make a good discussion book too. Each of the six divisions could be used to guide a discussion on the subject. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

I have taken personality tests before when applying for a job. This book is similar to that test but has a more spiritual guide. I will admit at first I was very confused as to what the author was talking about. It seemed a little scientific and I was starting to lose interest in the book. However as I read on I began to understand better about what enneagram was. I’m not quite sure where I fall in the chart but I did see bits that stood out to me.

I like how the book is set up as a devotional which was easy to follow. The book was geared toward the Peacemaker and it gives great information and guidance that directs us to God. Even if you aren’t a Peacemaker, there are still lots of tools we can all relate to. I liked the scriptures in the book and the detailed information for those who are Peacemakers. This devotional would best be used by going through it slowly since it is packed with research and scriptures to be studied.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

I was not familiar with what an Enneagram was before reading this book. I had to do a little research to make sure that I fully understood what an Enneagram is. I do love how God gave us all unique personalities - and this helps you to how to understand how God created, the peacemaker. This book is packed full of information. According the the Enneagram, there are 9 different unique personalities. This book focuses on Personality #9 - which is the peacemaker. I am not sure where I would fall on these traits, but I can think of a few in my family that I feel would be a peacemaker. This is a 60 day devotion that should be unpacked in that time frame. Don't rush through it so that you can take in all that it has to offer.

The author has done incredible research and studies on the Enneagram. She knows her subject material, and I feel that her writing was God led.

I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit Blogging program - all thoughts are my own

As a relative newcomer to the Enneagram journey this book has truly met me at a point of need! The first five sections offer a concise and thoughtful definition/description of the Enneagram and specifically the traits of this personality type known as the Peacemaker. The authors do an outstanding job of explaining and articulating the various facets of an Enneagram 9 - the Peacemaker. Individuals who have discovered themselves to be, or know of others who are, an Enneagram Nine will certainly identify with what they read in this thoughtful volume. Each of the daily devotions provides the reader with a rich opportunity for introspection and understanding. This is a keeper and one I will definitely be gifting as well. I very highly recommend this valuable volume!

The Peacemaker: Growing as an Enneagram 9 is quite different than most devotionals I am used to. It is broken into sixty days. Every ten days a new topic is covered, which include: uniqueness, weakness, strength, pain points, and where Nines go in times of stress and growth. Each day is quite short and makes it for quick reading and devotion for those who are busy in their life. It is perfect for them to be able to fit it in their daily life.

I will give The Peacemaker: Growing as an Enneagram 9 three and a half stars. I recommend it for readers who interested in the Enneagram 9 and for those who like to read devotionals. I am sure many will find some faith and inspiration within the pages.

I received The Peacemaker: Growing as an Enneagram 9 from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

While I am certainly not 100% certain what enneagram number I am, I certainly related with wanting to be a peacemaker and found this devotion to be a creative, Biblical, relatable devotion. I appreciated how the author fully explained the enneagram system for beginners like me, and I really appreciated how each devotion showed the difference between how peacemakers strive to gain balance, vs. what God says in the Scriptures. Each passage also had insight on how to develop more towards a Biblical view of peacemaking while celebrating how the image of Christ is shown through us peacemakers as well. I feel that every type of enneagram should have a devotion like this for personal growth and helpful introspection from a Biblical view. I highly recommend this devotional and I hope there will be more!

If you’re ready to learn and grow beyond the lazy, slothful caricature of the Enneagram Nine, you’re going to love this book—because I’ve searched for Enneagram number-specific devotionals before and found nothing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Elisabeth Bennett has written a thoughtful book with 60 days of Scripture, devotionals, and reflection questions. You'll learn all about your peacemaking personality: sloth, gut feelings, merging, anxiety (going to six), and claiming your space (going to three).

This is not a skim the surface type book. You will be challenged to learn and grow. Which is worth the effort in my opinion! The devotionals are short and doable. It is a lovely, grace-filled book! If you’re not a nine, don’t worry! She has a book for every number.

I discovered the enneagram a couple of years ago but just recently started diving into it. I am a classic 9 and was really excited to read a devotional that mixed scripture and spiritual growth with the distinct personality traits of a nine. I really enjoyed the book. It had a lot of insight into how 9's feel in health as well as in stress and tied in a lot of encouraging scripture to give support in those different areas. I would recommend the book to 9's who would like to use scripture and their relationship with God to help them grow into a stronger and healthier place. I also think it would be a great resource for those who love a 9 to help them understand that person a little better and how to support them as they try to grow into health.

This series is the first of it’s kind that I am aware of and boy does it deliver! The break down of the numbers in the beginning showing strengths, growths and differences is alone worth the buy. As the devotions progress the challenges come smoothly and seamlessly as the whole book flows throughout. It will for sure make you think about your inner motivation and reasoning. If you’re wanting to grow and understand how to better yourself by learning your number and learning how God can best use you, I 11/10 recommend this book!!!

This book was given to me by a very cherished friend. I went into it like most self-help books: take what resonates and leave what doesn’t.

As a devotional, this is very Christ heavy for someone who is still trying to discover her faith.

However, a lot of this resonated with me. It has encouraged me to listen to my own voice, trust it, and speak up when there’s something important for me to say. To believe that my opinion matters.

This one was catered to my enneagram # which I think helped make it resonate a bit more.

I could not wait to get my hands on this book! When it comes to the Enneagram, I want to learn it all! I was so impressed with how well it was organized. It was easy to follow and I learned so much about the healthy gifts of being a 9, as well as my areas of growth. I learned new ways of thinking about my weaknesses as a 9 and how to change my mindset through prayer and being intentional with my life. I highly recommend this book to all 9s!

I struggled to connect with this book even though I am a 9. I enjoyed the scriptures she used and there were a few days that were right on and encouraging but overall for myself it was not a source growth and encouragement even though I stuck it out through all the days. I was doing this with others where we would meet to discuss which is why I stuck it out
