Loren Stone wasn't always a powerful general. Once, he was simply a victim.
And Lassyne True wasn't always the Thorns' most hated spy. Once, she was the heir to a duchy and a fortune... and the favorite target of a murderous lunatic.
They have so much in common. They've both been kept in a cage. Lassyne knows this, because she was there. As a child, she saw what happened to Loren... and for ten years of her life, she has watched him from afar, obsessing over a future that they'll never have. But when her parents finally put Lassyne on the market—and her jealous brother makes his ultimate move—Lassyne gets the chance of a lifetime.
I can't say enough about Scottie Kaye's writing. She weaves the erotica through the story. Most other erotica I've read the story is just a thin vessel to give you the erotica, but Scottie Kaye develops a deep story. She creates a rich world of sensory magic users filled with real characters that evolve with the story. I highly recommend this book as well as the companion series Sleeping Lotus.
I think this is a terrific book. Some of the main character concepts are new to me. The heroine finds herself caught between a rock and a hard place and decides to escape her circumstances. From there begins the whole tale. I enjoyed the book very much and bought a few others of this writers stories.
