I’m TR Cameron, science fiction author. I’ve been an avid consumer of the genre since I was six, I think, when I broke the seal on my Dad’s copies of the Asimov Foundation books. It’s been all downhill since then.
I have a day job that I love most days, and writing is pretty much my only consistent hobby. When I find time that’s not already filled with my wife, my daughter, my writing, my work, or dodging the affections of our clowder of cats, you can find me playing video games (currently Dishonored 2 – I’m a little behind the times on this one), watching things (Marvel movies, American Gods, Agents of Shield, Justified, The Expanse, Gotham), playing board games, or, naturally, reading.
My favorite authors in Sci-Fi are David Weber, Jean Johnson, John Scalzi, CJ Cherryh, and the giants: Asimov, Pohl, Bear, Heinlein, etc. I read a lot in other genres too, and am a big fan of Matthew Woodring Stover, Michael Anderle, Jim Butcher, and I could go on and on and on. If I had to choose one favorite, though, it would be Stephen R. Donaldson, whose Thomas Covenant series was transformative for me.
Probably my pie-in-the-sky dream for my writing career is that someone would make a movie or television show of my books and I could be a part of the production. Sure, unlikely, but a clowder-dodger can dream, right? My more practical dream is that I can keep writing and both entertaining and connecting with my readers for years and years to come.

This is a fast-paced, action intense, read filled with magic, mayhem, and mystery. 4.5 Stars for complete series. I liked the first few books but really enjoyed the rest.
Welcome to the House of Fun, Now You’ve Come of Age…
Viewer discretion is advised: The following story (actually the story being reviewed) contains not so graphic scenes of violence, but nonetheless also contains an excessively high body count. Some readers may find this disturbing. If so, you have my compassion but no sympathy. You were, after all, warned right from the get-go.
Seriously, however, I’m being a bit glib simply because I have NO idea where to begin…. This compendium entails 8 books, and that means that there’s a LOT here to deal with. In fact, there’s SO much here, that these 8 books not only set up a sequel, they also inspired not one, not two spin off series…. No, this series has given life to, count them, FIVE (5) spin-off series, and of course, *** there are no spoilers ahead *** Diana and the team at least make cameo appearances in each of those and play pivotal roles in one or two.
My point is that in these 8 books, Cameron did not just lay the foundation for his own little corner of the Oriceran Universe. He cleared the land, put in all the necessary infrastructure, and then WHAM, builds his own little God Blessed Oriceran NATION. Now, it really is fun to reread these, because as Cameron has continued to mine this vein, he has also been refining and improving his art. I don’t mind telling you that I was terribly wrong, however, in how I remembered them. As Cameron’s writing continued to improve book-on-book (and this continues in his newer books), looking back on these I remembered these characters as “flat.” In my mind, while the characters were not described or portrayed poorly in any sense of the word, they still seemed to be more “robotic.” I think, now, that this was unavoidable since this series is very much PLOT driven, not character driven, so of course the characters are going to be more if not entirely reactive to the story’s events.
As I sat re-reading this, I found myself almost anxiously waiting for those badly done characters to show up. Time and time again I found myself thinking to myself things like, “Well, that’s not bad at all,” or, “Wow. I really like that!” me often it was, “Dang… I had that totally wrong, didn’t I?
This isn’t high literature, but it IS undeniably fun to read. If you like magic, you’ll love this series. If you like highly realistic and detailed fight scenes, you will love this series. If you like powerful female leads, you will love this series. If you like inappropriate humor and a “hint” of snark, you’ll love this series. If you like found families and the bond of brotherhood that binds any who have served in combat together, you will love this series. If you’re looking for something staid and static or something nonfiction, you will not like this series.
Bottom line, if you give it a shot (within the caveats above) I can fairly guarantee that you WILL enjoy.
This whole series had me gripped from the opening sentence, and on to the closing word.
The style of writing was great, and kept me enthralled and, although I'm the last woman on earth to be a fighter, I was particularly mesmerised by the fight scenes.
I've been reading LMBPN ebooks for the last 3 years, and it was Michael Anderle, and Craig Martelle's writing, that got me hooked on both the Indy Publisher, plus all the amazing books that they keep on publishing.
Their amazing stable of writers have become sooo afflictive for me to read, especially as their fight, and battle, scenes are so very good, that I felt that I was a part of them.
Because they are secure in their own masculinity, or feminity, these amazing authors are able to write about some awesome women in their books - women who made me feel as though ANYTHING was possible for us and, in Agent Diana Sheen, there was that same strong, bold, balanced, and frequently sassy, woman character, which I love, being the introvert that I am - and Diana immediately made me feel at home, once more!
I think, what I love most about these books, is that both the men, and the women, could be exactly who they are meant to be, without any of the bitchy, nasty stuff that can happen between the sexes in 'real' life, in people who are insecure in, and of, themselves.
I'm totally addicted to these books, and every new author that I've come across, who has co-written books, especially with Michael, and Martha Carr, the originator of the Oriceran Universe, have shown just how well these two amazing authors have chosen their writing partners!
I have to confess that my original duo, of Michael and Craig, will ALWAYS be my top two authors, but Martha Carr comes in a very close second, and TR Cameron, is definitely in third place, after her!
I have found this last 3 years of reading (plus pre-ordering to buy, and waiting to read) all of the ebooks coming out of the LMBPN stable, to be the best reading time of my life - and I've read thousands of books over the last 58 years, since I learned to read!
This last series has been one of the best up there, and I'm very much looking to read more of these three amazing writers' works!
Wonderful action adventure series with magic and modern warfare in the Oriceran universe
A group of agents, starting with FBI agent Diana Sheen, is recruited to form an elite unit that takes on magicals and criminals from Oriceran. In the first few books of the series, they are fighting an uphill battle against seemingly overwhelming odds. Gradually, as they train and add more members to their team, the odds begin to swing in their favour.
In this series, the reader goes on a journey of discovery with the agents – discovery of their talents, of a world of magic and magical creatures. It is a world of urban fantasy meeting magical fantasy, of computers, modern weapons and secret government agencies meeting hidden magical cities, elves, trolls and kilomea. There are drones and AI and magical weapons with their own souls. Those who survive in this brave new world are those who can successfully straddle the divide between magical and mundane and embrace technological advancement while coming to terms with inherent magic.
Even though this series resides in the same world as the School of Necessary Magic, it inhabits the grittier version that complements the word of the peerless Shay and Brownstone. The story is well told with action-packed scenes leading to each novel’s page-turning conclusion.

Wow--major overload of tech there at the conclusion, but riveting all the same.
This was a thrilling, exhausting, fun journey of a fantastical nature. Highly recommend this series, especially if you're an adrenaline junkie who enjoys a seemingly endless flow of magical battles pitting humans with magic against elves, trolls, wizards, witches, and other supernatural beings I've never heard of, controlled by the most supreme evil, power-hungry megalomaniac imaginable.
All I have are words of praise for the creative geniuses behind this amazing, rollicking adventure with brilliantly resilient, spunky characters who live for exciting, exhaustive encounters of the dangerous kind, using hyped up weapons crafted by technologies that haven't even been invented yet. These compelling characters, vividly detailed settings and scenarios reminiscent of a cross between Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Rambo, and Judge Dredd. A hundred stars wouldn't be enough of an award...
A good series. Had some moments where I wished things would pick up, but the building suspense, growth of the team, and the fact that I liked the characters and was glad that they did not all die horrible deaths helped me overlook my need for constant action. Diana, Cara, Bryant and Rath were definitely my favorites, but surprisingly, Nylotte made the list too. That Drow and her allegiance to Diana definitely surprised me, but in a good way. I really didn't expect her to be an ally given the initial introduction, however, I liked how their relationship evolved. Either way, the team did not always win every skirmish, but did succeed when it really counted. There were some arcs that I'm not are closed so hopefully, those get addressed in future books.
TR Cameron knocked this storyline out of the park! Diana, Bryant, Rath, Cara and the rest of BAM (Black ops Agents of Magic) hold their own in this week managed series. The development of each character is superb, the scenery is exceptional, and the flow of the story is wonderful. The editors need to be more I their toes with misspellings and odd letters, which pop up more in the early books. Readers of the Oriceran universe, lovers of magic, and action fiends do NOT want to skip this series. Bravo, once afain, on delivering a riveting read.
O loved the adventures that Diana, Bryant, and their Troll Max had. Through out this series. Max went from a redneck fighter. To a master warrior. By the end of this series. As he trained with Diana's Agents, practiced acrobatics, even learned knife throwing, and stick Fighting. While Diana and her second in comand. Both learned to master the magic abilities. In short this series is a total riot to read. What with all the funny scenes, great action scenes etcetera. I highly highly recommended this for those who love Urban Fantasy fiction. Best yet there is a sequel series to Federal Agents of Magic called Rogue Agents of Magic. Enjoy!!
A wonderful addition to the Oriceran Universe! Rath is his own troll and does not need to compete with YTT since he is his own brand of awesome. The characters are fun and I really enjoy this author's humor. My one complaint is the relationships are way too one dimensional. Their lack of depth (even in the friendships) breaks down some of the verisimilitude for me. I'm hoping this is something that is simply a reflection of this writer's newness and it will improve as experience grows.
Read this after reading the follow on series with Cali in New Orleans. I like the way these authors invest in world-building, of team building, of working with characters whose varying skills build to make the sum greater than the parts.
At first i thought Rath was Leira's buddy, but then i figured that might be part of the plan. I liked the somewhat conflicted Nylotte, and would love to get her backstory.
As of right now, i'd probably read anything by these 3 authors. I'd encouage you to take a chance on them.😉
Probably the best series I've read in a long, long time!! I usually don't care for the (as I call them) "shoot em up bang bang"s, but this was so well written that it kept my attention through every bit of it! Great characters, wonderfully engaging descriptions of magic, great humor and a realness that had me very upset to reach the end of this box set. Can't wait to join this group of folks again. Keep writing these PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
This box set was my first foray into the Oriceran universe, a couple of years ago. I had no idea what Oriceran was or that this set was part of something larger. I had so much fun reading this set that I checked out the original series, other related series, and just finished reading the next box set in this series. The character Rath is just too hilarious. Be prepared for lots of snark, laughs, and action.
I read and enjoyed reading as a box set, no waiting for the next one right? I recommend you read in order to understand the ream dynamics and how they found each other and see the bonds as they work through the villain's, plots, friends, frenemies and betrayers. Fast paced stories good plots with twist and turns you don't always see coming. a must read!
While the action is a bit too militaristic for my taste, it suits the stories. They are the interesting and well written, the characters are engaging and the snark factor is spot on. The magic is consistent with other books in the Oriceran universe. All in all, it's a good read and I heartily recommend it.
I had read most of the series when it came out and really enjoyed it. Then came the new books in Nevada with the elf run casino's and I realized how much I wash missing, so I reread this set of books. Really glad I took the time. Outstanding books!! Now back to the sisters and lioness! Happy!
Read about Rath the troll in future books it was great to see where it started. I can also see the progression of the writing as the three of your writing bonded (not sure if that’s correct grammar!). I really enjoyed it. Hope the next group comes out together.
This is a set of 8 books full of magic, epic battles, great characters both good and evil, wonderful battle toys,(think James Bond/cyberspace.)lots of great humour and snark.Great story telling with fast paced action and battles 💃🏻❣️🙆🏻♀️🥷🧌🔥💥⚡️🚁💣⚔️Also buying audible books-husband and I both love audible books too ❣️💃🏻
Great story great characters Lost some of the “bounty” hunting camouflage team when all the magical action started Fighting magical armor with a magical sword is always the best way to go Never hurts to have your friends help!
What a team such to brilliant characters I want a troll too 💖💖💖. Highly recommend but don’t expect to get anything done way too much to see and enjoy. Will probably have to reread a few times as do much to experience. So clear the decks and get reading big you’ll want the follow on series too just saying lol
Loved getting thru the entire series in the boxed set. Whole story. No waiting. I want a Rath! And a Face! And…well, any of those men on the team. I’m more like Diana but wish Ivwas more like Cara. Surprised they didn’t pull in the girl from the fight club. Think she would be a great addition.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this series, but it had me hooked very early in book one. The dialogue between characters was clever with the right amount of snark.
This may be my second reading, it's still great. A solid tale of magic mayhem deserving victory and retribution in spades... Whatever that means! Very enjoyable fantasy nonsense - that makes perfect sense in the reading😄 thanks /d
Third group of books I have read and total have enjoyed. Really looking forward to the next set. These three authors know how to keep a person on the edge of their seat and wanting more.
Met new friends and shared some awesome adventures and don’t want it to end. Have some idea of where it’s all heading but waiting for some reinforcement. Write on!!
Lots of action for you here, along with well developed characters, and a touch of humor at times to provide a change of pace. You will enjoy this book, and this series of books.
I liked the entire series, who would like it anyone who Like Action and Fantasy great storyline .All three of these writers did a great job and too them I say Thank You.
I really liked this series. Kept me hooked and wanting more. At the end of each book I was already looking forward to the next. I'm hooked on the series and these writers.
From it's start the Magic Ops agents fight magical crimes. Originally started by the government to protect, the politicians eventually corrupt themselves.
Adventure, over coming odds.Friendship working together.
Loved the Strong characters, the training and discipline of each adding to the adventures. The friendship that wove them together adding their own gifts to overcome the evil greedy people.
