A collection of the first 3 Be My Bully episodes, First Warning is a strange, twisted, erotic examination of small town life in an unorthodox private school. Regina Watts builds a story that gets increasingly stranger as new secrets are revealed, and shockingly darker with a closing twist that I guarantee you won’t see coming.
Beneath all the punishment kinks and femdom fetishes, this is the story of awkward friendship and strained relationships between eighteen-year-old seniors at Griswald School for Unruly Girls, featuring an open sort of love triangle between Lulu (the new girl), Rhoda (class president and sapphic bully), and Mara (the mysterious outcast). What connects them all is a lust for corporal punishment, but what makes it so engaging is the combination of Lulu’s guilty naivety, the glimmer of genuine emotion beneath Rhoda’s manipulation, and the secrets wrapped up in Mara and her father.
For most of the first two books, this was just a fun read of girls loving girls and girls spanking girls. It’s kinky and erotic, with plenty of daring exhibitionism, and almost overpoweringly intense in its emotions. Watching Lulu walk that tightrope between fear and desire, grasping for comfort even as she longs for pain, is magnificent. It’s hard to maintain that duality for three books, but Watts has created an environment and a cast of characters who keep it exciting.
The second book of First Warning is where our curiosity begins to be engaged, particularly around parents and teachers, and the third where our sense of dread begins to arise . . . before bottoming out with the final twist. A fantastic read that has me curious to see where the next 9 chapters lead.
