A divorced criminal lawyer. Her first love. The island she abandoned for a better life over twenty years ago.
Susan Sheridan knows Martha’s Vineyard like the back of her hand. She grew up there as the eldest of the three Sheridan Sisters, their father the longtime owner of the Sunrise Cove Inn in Oak Bluffs. The Inn, the water, the sun all spun with laughter, and love, with the most important people— her family and friends. It was her glittering, perfect life—until it wasn’t.
Tragedy struck over twenty years ago, and Susan has hardly said a word to her sisters or her father or anyone else she ever loved.
Not until now.
Her father and Sunrise Cove Inn are both falling apart, just like Susan’s life. Her husband left her for the secretary at their shared law firm, and her children have their separate lives. And she’s keeping her own secrets.
Now it’s time to go back to the island she once loved so much. Time to face the horrors and secrets of her past, everything she’s tucked away since she left the Vineyard and started a family of her own.
But as she digs deeper into the dark psyche of her past, she digs up old truths, lost loves, and regrets—all with the once-familiar backdrop of this gorgeous island.
The Vineyard has been waiting for her. But can she handle what she finds there? Can she forgive and never again regret?
Katie writes women's fiction and clean, wholesome contemporary romance. She looks to everyday, real-life family issues to weave stories of heartfelt emotions, love and loss, and everything in between.
Come transport yourself to Martha's Vineyard: an island of vivid blue ocean, white sand, and a lively community of locals, who celebrate everything from the bright New England summers to the cold, yet cozy, snowcapped winters.
Susan’s life has been in upheaval, as she and her lawyer partner husband are in the midst of splitting their practice following their divorce, due to his affair with his secretary. Susan is in the process of moving out of their home when she gets a call from her aunt, begging her to return to Martha’s Vineyard because her father is in the hospital.
Susan decides to make a trip there, but with mixed feelings. She also reaches out to her two sisters. But reality is that she is estranged from all of her family, and her sisters are likewise estranged from their father. Turns out he has dementia and it is progressing, and the family inn is in disrepair. Her sisters return, but there are secrets about what happened in the past that lead to such bitterness.
It’s a very nice story about a family reconnecting and healing. Is there also rekindling of lost love? I wouldn’t say there’s anything amazing but it’s a very pleasant book with interesting characters. I enjoyed the audio version.
I enjoyed this story. It started well and it kept me reading to find out the mystery that was implied with their mother’s death. Different aspects of this story are relatable to readers so it keeps your interest. Reads smoothly, and now has me wanting to continue the story with the second book!
Susan, a 44 year old criminal lawyer in partnership with her husband, has just learned that he has taken up with his secretary and is filing for divorce. He has bought out her share of the practice and their home; she is planning to take some time off when she gets a call from her aunt that her dad has had an accident. Susan returns to Martha's Vineyard, even though she's been estranged from both her father and her two sisters for many years. Can the sisters put their resentment and anger aside after so many years? Can Susan find love again? This new author (who has provided me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review) has written an enjoyable summer read which is recommended for fans of Elin Hilderbrand and Nancy Thayer.
I fell in love with this book and found it very hard to put down. It is set on Martha's Vineyard. The author gives wonderful colorful descriptions of the island and the characters who live there. It is a story about three estranged sisters. They have been asked to come home to Sunrise Cove Inn owned by their Grandfather. The Inn is in disrepair. None of them have been back to the inn in many years. Slowly the stories come out about their complicated lives filled with problems. I look forward to the next book to continue this wonderful saga. This is the Author's first book which is hard to believe as the book flows so easy which makes reading fun. I received an ARC from the author with the request to give it an unbiased review.
I found this series through Audible when looking for a Thanksgiving themed read. The Thanksgiving book peaked my interest so I decided to start from the beginning.
The Sunrise Cove Inn is an emotional start to a series set in Martha’s Vineyard. As she navigates her new life she starts making amends or tries to with past friends and her own sisters.

My thoughts: Page 117 of 222 Ch. 17 - It's odd to me that everyone is 40 with grandkids, and when you do the math they much have gestational periods of 3 days like The Sims. I wonder how Susan went to college and law school while pregnant and giving birth at 19 and 22 as a homemaker, but other than that magic math background story, it's great. I also struggle with the daddy drama, it's more than halfway through the story and I still don't know what he did.
Despite the bad math and occasionally cookie-cutter character, I loved this book. I was a bit disappointed with some of the reveals, and the epilogue was forever, but I loved this family and have plans on reading the entire series.
Recommend to others: Yes! Great series especially if you're looking for a new island family drama beach read fix.

For your first book, I think you have a winner. The writing was very good, the story flowed smoothly. Great characters. Lots of secrets, sister issues and lost love. Sometimes the descriptions were a little too wordy and slowed down the flow, but overall enjoyed this book and look forward to future books in this series. I received this arc for an honest review.
This is the first book in a proposed trilogy and I very much enjoyed it. I always like stories of sisters who have had a falling out of sorts and when a situation arises to bring them back together, they end up reconciling. Now this sounds pretty simple, but Katie Winters has written a very interesting story. I loved the three sisters, even though it took awhile to warm up to Christine. There was tragedy in their past that caused the family to break apart and end up all over the Eastern U.S. They say timing is everything, and in this book, Susan has recently ended her marriage, given up her home to her husband and mistress, and is getting ready to move into her son's home with his family. When she gets a call from her Aunt on Martha's Vineyard that her father is in the hospital, she doesn't hesitate to head over to help. This is a story of secrets and the damage that they can do. It is also a story of family and what a parent will do for their children. Wes Sheridan has been diagnosed with dementia and that is another plotline that is going to play a role in the future stories. There is a romance of sorts, but that is secondary to the rest of the story. I will definitely be looking for the next book in this series so I can read Christine's story and see what is next for the Sheridan family. The author generously provided me with a copy of this book upon my request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
This is a must read. I was given an advance copy of the book, but that in no way affects my review. I loved the book it’s set in Martha’s Vineyard and revolves around the life of the 3 Sheridan sisters who left the island after their mother’s death 25 years ago. Susan the oldest comes back after a call from her aunt telling her that her father is in the hospital. She found out he had an accident at home and now has early dementia. She gets her sisters Christine and Lola to come home as well and that’s where the families past starts to unravel and secrets are exposed. I won’t say more because I don’t like to give away the story. It took several twists and turns I never expected and I’m looking forward to Firefly Nights, Book 2 in the series. Great summer read I highly recommend.
This was a pretty good story and I enjoyed it overall. What kept me from giving it four stars was the editing. Incorrect grammar, misplaced commas, etc- very very distracting. Not sure I will read the rest in this series.
Secrets and hard feelings unite the Sheridan sisters. First Susan is called back to Martha’s Vineyard following her father Wes’ accident. After returning, Susan realizes her father is suffering from Dementia and the family business Sunrise Cove Inn is suffering. The Inn desperately needs a facelift and Susan realizes their are other problems.
Newly divorced, lawyer Susan summons her sisters Constance and Lola. When they arrive, each holds bad memories of their mother’s tragic death. The sisters have gone years without connecting. Each sister has strong personalities and they don’t always agree on the best way to approach the future.
This is the author’s first book and the beginning of a series with strong characters, who are very opinionated. I will happily read the next book in the series.
Thanks you to the author and for an ARC at my request. The words and thoughts in this review are my own.
Loved this first book in a series and can't wait to read the next one. This family has already won my heart and I'm very invested in their futures. So much happened in just the first book. I'm hoping each of the sisters' stories will get airtime because they're all genuinely interesting characters. For once, there wasn't one whiny or annoying female character.....and each of them had plenty to whine about!
Winters does a great job of delving into the relationships between the family members and this is always what draws me to a good family drama. Off to grab the next story......read this one!
Perfect summer read (even though technically it's still spring!)! Needed to escape and this book fit the bill - and also since I have been to the locale of this book many times it brought back some good memories and made me nostalgic for all of those trips to a place where I haven't been back to in a long time. Somewhat predictable ending but that's OK - there's another title in the series so I am looking forward to reading that one!
I received an ARC of this entertaining ebook. If you like stories about Inns, families, the ocean, islands, or Martha's Vineyard pick this one up when it debuts on July 7, 2020. It's by first time author Katie Winters and she's done a heck of a job. I truly enjoyed the story, the characters and the inn. Looking forward to the next one in this series.
Katie Winters has delivered an absolutely amazing book, with a kickass storyline; incredibly deep characters; intriguing yet gut-wrenching plot twists and turns; and a long and painful joy to a most welcome HEA. There is layer upon layer of hidden secrets coupled with painful truths...you’re not going to want to put this one down, so Grab your copy today! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and thoroughly enjoyed it.) ❤️❤️
A fast moving story of an estranged family coming back together with untold secrets. With the reality that the truth can set you free and help you start to heal.
This is such an inspiring summer read!! Three sisters, a misunderstanding, lost love and a weirdly likable father come together in a sweetly toned and compelling story we can all find relatable!! This is a cup of tea, light your candle and enjoy, my favorite evening, kinda book!! WTG to this debut author!!!
Sunrise Cove Inn, is the first in a series of 19 books taking place in Martha’s Vineyard. Quick easy read and pretty fluffy. It’s pretty much what you would expect from a wholesome romance. I may pick up book 2 when I need another break.
Excellent story line, characters are well developed. Believable family problems & redemption! Can’t wait to read the remainder of the books to see how this story plays out!
The Sunrise Cove Inn by Katie Winters is the first in the Vineyard Sunset Series and is a very good debut novel. The Sheridan sisters, Susan, Christine and Lola are called home to Martha’s Vineyard when their father is diagnosed with dementia. They are in their thirties and none have lived there, or even been back often, in all that time. Nor have they kept in contact with each other or their father. Will they finally be able to get over old wounds for their father’s sake, as well as their own? Very well written and interesting story.
This was a story of sisters, secrets, overcoming pain and loss, and going back home again. Susan was a mother in her 40s who had recently divorced her husband who was cheating on her with his much younger secretary. It sounds like the start of a cliché romance, but her story was anything but. Susan and her sisters Christine and Lola go back home to Martha's Vineyard after being away for many years to deal with an ailing father who drove them all away. Several mysteries and secrets were revealed throughout the book, some of them with questions still unanswered at the end. This isn't the usual type of book that I read as I prefer sweet and funny romances, but I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.
The Sunrise Cove Inn is book 1 in the Vineyard Sunset series by a new up and coming author and an excellent way to start a series with the eldest daughter.
Such an emotional story filled with secrets, betrayals, sadness, family issues, going back in time and so much more. Can’t wait for the other books in this series!
This was actually a very good story line, but there are two reasons I only gave it 3 stars. One, editing was not that great, and there were things that didn’t make sense. The author never had anyone do anything normally, they shot up (as in jumped up), barrelled down the drive, busted out the car, cranked the engine, cut up the stairs, cut out of the car etc etc. It got annoying, but then when you get to the end, you had to subscribe to get the Epilogue! Meaning give us your email address. So I don’t get to read the epilogue. Not good
This story had good plot lines and family dynamics as we watched them process an earlier tragedy, all while dealing with the trials of their current lives. Sadly though, this book was poorly edited- lots of mistakes that should’ve been easily caught. And also the author required the reader’s email info in order to provide the end of the book (epilogue.) Not cool!
This was a fun read. I would have liked to delve deeper with the characters, but since this is the first book in the series, I know I will enjoy reading future books when I'm looking for a fun summer read.
