Christine Sheridan is the middle sister of the Sheridan clan: lost between her older sister, Susan, a successful criminal lawyer and her whip-smart little sister, Lola. After twenty years apart, she and her sisters have just learned the secret their dead mother kept from them. They've finally learned their mother's true fate. Now, Christine returns to New York City, to her boyfriend Frank, to a life she once loved. But the prestigious restaurant they own is no more, and Christine is left once again without solid ground.
At forty-one, unable to have children, and with nowhere to go—she knows only to return home to the Vineyard and her family.
Martha’s Vineyard is in full summer bloom. After over twenty years away, Christine falls in love again with the water, with boating, the people, and with carefree days that meander and pop with bright conversations with Lola and Susan and long afternoon swims through crystal waters. Unfortunately, her high school rival, the ever-handsome Zach Walters, seems to lurk everywhere she goes—even offering her a pastry chef position at the Sunrise Inn Bistro. Almost reluctantly, she takes it—and soon becomes the most championed pastry chef on the island. Zach doesn’t seem so bad, either, although he does seem to harbor his own secrets.
Still, the Sheridan clan is never far from heartbreak. As the Sheridan sisters grow closer, their father loses even more of his memory; their mother’s real killer remains on the loose, as does Scott’s brother, who stole an obscene amount of money from the Sunrise Cove Inn. Secrets swirl through the family—and drama escalates when Lola’s daughter, Audrey, calls with shocking news that sends ripples through the entire Sheridan family.
Every day, the Sheridan sisters find new ways to support, enrage, love, and surprise one another. At forty-one, Christine feels caught between her old life and her new one—poised on the brink of either collapse or the greatest love she’s ever known. Will she find happiness on the island? Come and find out!

Full disclosure: I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This continues the story of the Sheridan sisters of Martha's Vineyard, although it can be read as a stand-alone. The first book concentrated on oldest sister, Susan, and this one tells the story of middle sister Christine, a pastry chef who has just her career and her love life crash and burn in NYC. When she returns to the island, she runs into her old nemesis from high school, Zach, who is now a chef, and they find out they have more common interests than just cooking. The seaside setting, the family dynamics, and the romance provide a relaxing escape for the reader.
Firefly Nights is the second book in The Vineyard Series by Katie Winters and follows the story of the middle daughter of the Sheridan clan, Christene. She was a pastry chef in NYC when suddenly both her career and love life crash and burn in front of her eyes. She decides to return to the island to her family and rebuild her life.
Here she meets Zach, her childhood nemesis and sparks kinda fly.
This book wasn’t ALL about romance and there was everything including family drama, love, life lessons and more. I liked how the sisters rediscovered their bond and the author didn’t just magically mend their relationship, it all happened gradually. The decision regarding Audrey’s baby was pretty sensible as well, I am glad that Audrey didn’t just go off on motherhood tangent and sacrificed her entire career. The resulting situation turned out to be beneficial for all and was the perfect solution.
The idyllic setting of the book and the beautiful cover lifted up my spirits and it was an enjoyable read overall.

My thoughts: While I enjoyed this story it just wasn't as good as book 1 and book 4. I knew what was going to happen since I started with Book 4, but it was more than that. Overall it is still a good series.
Recommend to others: Yes. I put off errands to finish this story.

Firefly Nights is book 2 in the Vineyard Sunset series by a new up and coming author, Katie Winters. This book features the middle sister, Christine.
Such an emotional story filled with secrets, sadness, family issues, coming home again, high school rival and so much more. Can’t wait for the other books in this series!
Just finished reading an advance copy of Firefly Night’s which is book 2 in The Vineyard Sunset series. My review in no way has to do with receiving an advance copy from the author. I thoroughly enjoy this series the book is based around the middle Sheridan sister Christine, the Pastry Chef. Her life was turned upside down at a young age when her Mom died. She struggles with the fact that she can’t have children and her sister’s lives are wrapped around their kids. It causes her drinking problems and depression which in the end she finds pease with in a wonderful way. Pick up a copy of the book (I suggest reading book 1 first) and read for yourself this heartwarming, light summer read set on Martha’s Vineyard. I’m looking forward to book 3 which I’m sure will feature the youngest sister Lola.
Ok, enough with the nostrils flaring please!!! I really hope this isn't a trend over the series. I didn't notice it in the first book but it was every other scene here. Fortunately this wasn't enough to detract from the rating.
I love this family. I am totally invested in all of their lives and cannot wait to start the next book. I'm glad it's a long series because there's a lot going on already. It's a refreshing change to see strong female characters instead of whiny, neurotic navel gazers with daddy issues. I have zero complaints about anyone in this family so far. The romances are well done subplots that don't take away from the family story and although I'm rooting for all 3 Sheridan sisters to find happiness, I'm also loving watching the family dynamics unfold. Pick this series up if you're looking for a great family saga.
The second book of this series focuses first on Christine, the middle sister. Like the fireflies that light up the darkness, each Sheridan sister faces the darkness in her life. With the help of family, friends, and love interests, each woman moves toward the light. Family is certainly a central theme in the book, and it's wonderful to see the formerly "distant" sisters begin healing. Christine, once the "wild child" of the family, learns her self-worth, and also has the chance to fulfill some of the dreams that she previously considered unattainable. I really appreciated Christine's journey, and the entire family's blossoming. The love stories are sweet and sincere and there are many surprises that further the plot.
I really loved this story of the Sheridan sisters with the story of Christine coming back to the Vineyard It is about her life in New York as a pastry chef and how she decides to go back. It is about how she finds the love that she needs and learns so much more about her family. There is so many things going on that makes the story so interesting, A GREAT READ. Thank you Katie for the ARC. Waiting for the next one. You are definitely a new author added to my list.
Firefly Nights by Katie Winters is book number two in the Vineyard Sunset Series. The Sheridan Sisters are back together again on Martha’s Vineyard and trying to get their lives sorted out. Much is going on in this book. It is a wonderful story with lovable, heartwarming characters.
This is a nice series. The characters are developed well, the pace is comfortable…an easy read. It helps that I’ve spent a decent amount of time on Martha’s Vineyard.
I do enjoy this series about sisters and all their problems. This time it was Christine and all her changes. Thank you Katie Winters for allowing me to read and review this book, I certainly enjoyed it.
This is the 2nd book in the Sunrise cove inn series about the Sheridan sisters. This focuses on Christine and her move back to the Vineyard. Watching the black hearted Christine fall in love and open her heart up to her family was lovely. Well written book. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Lola!
Enjoyed visiting with the Sheridan sisters again. Lots of ups and downs in their lives. Continues the mystery of Stan and now a new addition to the family. Christine and Zach may have mended fences, but you’ll have to read this book to find out. I received this arc for an honest review.
Love the family series, the setting and the characters. A little difficult keeping all the characters straight at times. Not sure if it was my state of mind or not but had to reread sections for clarification. Looking forward to Book 3!
Excellent continuation of the Sheridan Family story! I love how Katie concentrated on the middle sister in this book while still continuing the full family story. I was a great read that I could not put down and I cannot wait to read the next book!
A fun part 2 read in the Vineyard Sunset series. This book focuses some on Christine and her decision as to how to proceed in life after the closing of her New York restaurant with boyfriend Frank
Family dynamics continue to be a central theme in the series, with family support, love, and life mixing together
All three sisters are united together again, each with some issues. Can Christine come to terms with her inability to be a mother, and seek love again?
Lola faces a family crises with her daughter’s personal life.
Susan finally tells her family about her medical condition.
Dad Wes has some good times when his memory comes to the surface and he is happy to have his daughters and granddaughters together.
Christine and Zach are up front about being enemies, but she still ends up helping him by creating pasties for his restaurant. I thought it was pretty sexy that in addition to being an amazing chef he was a singer songwriter too. Christine and my sister of the same name both lost an ovary, but even though her doctor told her she couldn't have children afterwards my sister had two more. But she's also in a stable relationship, married to the same man for the past thirty years. Christine in the book didn't seem to like herself very much, drowning her sorrows to the point of being an alcoholic, and being told she couldn't have kids made her even more depressed and choose men who were not worthy of her like that cheater Frank, who ran their restaurant into the ground. The Sheridan sisters and their daughters go through some trials in this book that at times I don't know how they had the strength to keep on going without crying. I was intrigued by Lola's potential love interest and I'm looking forward to reading more in the next book.
This was my “waiting for the baling” to be done book. I loved how Christine’s character has evolved. The kindness & tenderness of this family is enviable and has caused me to stop and reevaluate relationships. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book!
This series just tugs at your heartstrings...so grab those tissues and get ready to laugh, cry, and feel blessed to have this read. The storyline is awesome; the characters continue to be developed; and the HEA is simply wonderful. Family dynamics demand both good and bad interactions...and Firefly Nights gives you both. You definitely want to grab this book today! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and thoroughly enjoyed it.) ❤️❤️
There is nothing wrong with this book that a grammar editor couldn't fix. So many misspelled words! And then on top of that, there are words that are out of proper order. That drives me nuts, but I m sure some folks won't even notice. Continue on with the series anyway......
Firefly Nights: The Vineyard Summer Series Book 2 is by Katie Williams. This book is about the Sheridan sisters on Martha’s Vineyard. Scott has taken over doing the Inn maintenance while doing whatever else he can for Susan. Only he knows Susan’s untold secret. Christine returned to New York and Frank to finish closing Chez Frank. What she didn’t intend to do was to end it with Frank; but she did and she and Felix, her cat returned to Martha’s Vineyard. The sisters were thrilled as was Wes, their Father. On the way back to the island, she ran into her high school nemesis, Zach Wilson. Zach was now the chef of the Bistro at the Sunrise Inn. She had a run-in with him before she had returned to New York. Now, they meet again. She thinks he is going to harass her about Chez Frank; but he had no idea it was closing. They were still enemies when they got off the ferry. When Zach found out she was making a cake for her twin cousins fifteenth birthday, he offered the kitchen at Sunrise. She arrived the day before to make the cake, he showed her where everything was and helped her get the ingredients from his pantry, then he left. She made the cakes and went home. The next morning, she went to put the cake together. It was a lemon/lavender cake and icing for which she had been noted in New York. It took a long time to put the cake together. It was two feet high and had beautiful flowers all over it. Zach came in while she was finishing and admired the cake. He picked it up to get a closer look when Ronnie, the busboy came barreling through the door and hit Zach in the back. He dropped the cake and it splattered everywhere, even over Christine. Horrified, she blamed him for doing it intentionally. However, he ended up helping her bake another cake and decorate it for her cousins. The next day, he sought her out and offered her a job as pastry chef at the bistro. The supplies at the Inn were delivered by Frampton Freights, owned by Scott and his brother Chuck. They delivered to the Inn and various other establishments throughout the island. Scott and Chuck were nothing alike. Scott was gentle and wanted to help others while Chuck was harsh and thought Scott was nuts. However, the freight company was successful. That was until Susan finally figured out why they were not making any money at the Inn. They were being swindled by Frampton Freights. When she confronted Scott, it was obvious that he knew nothing of this; but quickly figured out that it was Chuck. Scott confronted him and Chuck admitted it and admitted he was embezzling from the other establishments too. Then, he grabbed a backpack and quickly left. By the time Scott managed to call the police, Chuck had made the ferry and was off the island. He had stolen a great deal of money and Scott told everyone he would make it good; but their insurances and Scott’s covered it. Scott sold the company and went to work for Sunrise Inn fulltime. Meanwhile, Chuck was on the run. Crises just keep coming up with the family. Christine keeps getting her feelings hurt when Susan and Lola talk about their children, or the children come to visit. This is because she cannot have children and that was her dream. Things get worse when Lola gets a call from Audrey telling her that she is pregnant and the father wants nothing to do with her or the baby. It is one of Lola’s worse nightmares come to life. Audrey was on the verge of starting her career and now it would be sidelined because of the baby. Life was repeating itself. Susan reveals her secret and the family is crushed. You should read the book as there is much more going on, I only told a very little of the story.
This is the second book in the Vineyard Sunset series featuring the Sheridan sisters, Susan, Christine and Lola. This is Christine's story. Christine has left her glamorous life in New York after the restaurant that she and her partner ran, closed. She realizes that she has not been happy for a long time and decides to head back to Martha's Vineyard to see if she can be happy there. She runs into Zach Walters, the boy she loved as a teen that dumped her just before she left the island. He is running The Bistro attached to and owned by the family's Inn. With all that is going on the lives of the Sheridan women, can Christine sit back, figure out what will make her happy and listen to what Zach has to say?
I enjoy stories about reconciliation of families, especially sisters. This series does just that. There are still secrets that need to be sorted out between various family members, but best of all, these sisters support each other, even if that is all new to them. I love the main characters of the sisters and their dad, Wes. Watching them reconcile and share their insights is wonderful. The secondary characters are also well written. The daughters, cousins and friends all have a role to play in the stories. This book shows up another side to Christine. In the first book she was aloof and often angry. This book has her softening up a bit and opening up to her family and Zach. As I got to know more about her, I understood how she ended up in the way she was. She is missing a huge piece of herself and I think she might just find it. This is an emotional story, one with highs and lows. It also deals with themes of sadness, family issues, coming home again, unplanned life situations, dreams (both fulfilled and shattered) and second chances. I am enjoying this series and am looking forward to Lola's story in August Sunset. The author generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
Christine Sheridan says goodbye to New York. Feeling defeated she returns home to Oaks Bluff on Martha’s Vineyard. This is where the three Sheridan girls grew up. Christine has been drinking heavily. Besides losing her wonderful job as a pastry chef she faces not being able to have children like her sisters. But just as the nights are lit up by the fireflies, Christine finds herself enjoying the fresh air, beach, boating, the water, being with her sisters, Lola and Susan. Then her old high school nemesis, Zach Walters who is now the Chef at the Sunset Inn Bistro hires Christine as a pastry chef. She soon becomes a star as the pastry chef on the island. Family trials both old and new still have do be faced, old feelings and distrusts need to be overcome but love, forgiveness might just be the answer. New colorful characters combine with the Sheridan family for a emotionally, captivating and riveting story that will keep the reader involved from the first word until the last word. I am looking forward to the next book. A Highly Recommended Read. This is book # 2 in the Vineyard Sunset series. It can be read as a stand alone, The author provides enough of a backstory that the reader will follow the story effortlessly. I volunteered to read Firefly Nights. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is voluntary and my own.
Christine loses her life, her chef position and her boyfriend all in one sweep and realizes she has nowhere to go. Deciding to return back to her childhood home in Martha's Vineyard she is now back a part of her sisters lives, her dad losing his memory and her moms killer still out there somewhere. This series is captivating and holds your attention through each and every page you turn. I cant wait for the next book to get here so that the story will be more complete. Grab your copy today and enjoy this wonderful series.
I am loving this series. Each character has their own story that intertwines with each other. Some good, some bad.
Book two centers around the middle Sheridan sister Christine. She returns home for good after a failed relationship and restaurant endeavor. She has no clue what she wants or where she wants to go. As she figures it out she finds her love of pastry baking again. She also finds other loves along the way as well.
I am excited to follow each character as the series progresses.
So the stories aren’t too deep even though there is a lot going on… I wonder if I read another if I’ll get more into the characters. I feel like the goals are finding love, weddings, children, and those themes take over one’s that could be deeper such as health, relationships, past stories and how those affect the family dynamics. But the setting is nice and I like the idea of a family business working together, so I’ll read the next one.
Just finished Firefly Nights. What a great book! I love the Sheridan sisters. They have their ups and downs just like other siblings, but they are always there for each other. Susan shares some sad and scary news with her family. Lola's daughter shocks her with news. Christine is searching to find herself. Katie Winters, I have only read two books so far in this series, and I am so hooked on these sisters and their story. Thank you.
