Unanswered questions. A sailing adventure gone wrong. The Sheridan sisters face the end of the season that changed their lives forever.
Lola Sheridan is the youngest Sheridan sister: a whip-smart journalist with a flair for the dramatic. As her older sisters settle into new lives on the Vineyard, Lola demands more out of the summer season with a fantastical sailing expedition up from the Florida Keys to Martha’s Vineyard. The sailor who takes her? The mysterious, dark-eyed loner, Tommy Gasbarro—the ex-stepson of the Sheridan sisters’ greatest enemy. He represents so much of what went wrong in Lola’s life—and knows secrets about her mother that she was never allowed to learn.
Susan continues on with her chemotherapy, and her illness remains on the forefront of the sisters’ minds. Wes Sheridan grapples with his dementia, as Christine continues to find new ways to push beyond her traditional gloomy behavior. All the while, Lola’s only daughter, the nineteen-year-old Audrey, inches through her pregnancy, and comprehends the depths of her mistake and what second-chances are really all about.
August on Martha’s Vineyard is a last grasp at the beauty of summer. As the tourist season comes to a close, the Sheridan sisters find opportunity for rest, for renewal, for strength, and for acceptance. Surrounded by crystal blue waters and white sandy beaches, they turn inward—toward one another and the memories they’ve kept within them for many years—to find peace, to be better lovers, to accept what came before and build something new for the future. If this season has taught them anything, it’s that together, anything is possible. Come to the Vineyard, and find out what happens to Lola, Susan, Christine, and everyone else they hold dear.
Katie writes women's fiction and clean, wholesome contemporary romance. She looks to everyday, real-life family issues to weave stories of heartfelt emotions, love and loss, and everything in between.
Come transport yourself to Martha's Vineyard: an island of vivid blue ocean, white sand, and a lively community of locals, who celebrate everything from the bright New England summers to the cold, yet cozy, snowcapped winters.

My thoughts: I read this straight through. It was decent but my least favorite story of the series so far. I already know I enjoyed book 4 more than 2 & 3 so I'm hoping book 5 is better than the earlier books. Lola just isn't my favorite character and the storylines weren't for me, but it still was a nice experience.
Recommend to others: Yes. Nice series, this is just a slight lull in the trip.

August Sunsets is book 3 in the Vineyard Sunset series by Katie Winters an up and coming new author who certainly is establishing herself with these books!
Up next is Lola Sheridan the youngest sister and a journalist. When she meets and interviews Tommy Gasbarro, she finds he is the ex stepson to the man who is a sworn enemy of the family...but there is something about Tommy that draws Lola in...
So much is happening with the sisters, daughters and dad. Emotional, tears, angst, romance, starting to heal from the past and moving to the future. This book is the finale to the three sisters books but leaves openings for the rest of the family in hopefully more Vineyard books!!
This is the final story in The Vineyard Sunset trilogy and I enjoyed how Katie Winters wrapped it all up and brought all the various plotlines together. This is Lola's story. Lola is the youngest of the Sheridan sisters and the one that looks the most like their mother who was killed in a boating accident when she was only eleven years old. With all three sisters back on Martha's Vineyard, the house they grew up in is having rooms added on to accomodate all of them. If you have not read the previous books in the series, I recommend that you do, as each sister's story builds on the next one. Their dad's dementia is getting worse, Susan is undergoing chemotherapy, Christine is in love and working in the Bistro attached to the family Inn, Lola is dealing with the news that her daughter is pregnant and taking a year off school and she is working freelance for the editor she worked with ten years ago. They are repairing relationships with each other and their father, but there is still a ghost from their past that is causing problems and Lola is still alone.
I enjoyed getting to know the sisters even more in this book. When we first meet them, I did not like them very much, but I have come to love each of them. Lola did not have an easy life. Being left behind with their dad as her older sisters left the island was hard for her. When she fled, never planning to return, she made some mistakes, but learned to live with them and raise her daughter alone. With her daughter repeating her mistakes, this time, they have family support. Finding that she still wants to find a man to share her life with comes as a bit of a surprise to Lola, and when she falls for someone who has ties to their past, it has her reassessing her life and decisions. As with the others in this trilogy, it is an emotional story with some tears, angst, romance, second chances, forgiveness and healing. It is a story of family love and forgiving them so you can have a second chance to be together. I want to thank Katie Winters for inviting me to read her trilogy. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
August Sunsets was to be the last book in the Vineyard Sunsets series but I do know it continues and I am so happy it does. I’m so entranced by this family that I just keep reading one book after another.
This book centers around the baby Sheridan sister, Lola. She is your typical baby sister who got away with everything and was a handful in her youth. Getting pregnant at 18 made her grow up but not all ways changed. As she celebrates her 39 birthday she goes on an adventure and learns about herself along the way. Can she help her sisters and herself forgive the man who killed their mother so many years ago?
This book is full of emotion. Grief, being scared, worry, and of course lots of love.
4.5 stars. Those damn flaring nostrils are getting really annoying.
I have loved this series so far but this book maybe a little less. It's great how the author made each of the three Sheridan sisters the main character of their own book and further explored their stories, past and present, woven around the continuing family saga. That's tough to do but Winters pulls it off well. I feel like Lola and Tommy's relationship was a little rushed and the banter didn't seem as natural as the other two couples, but I liked this book enough to continue with the series. I'm very invested in this family and their cousins and can't wait to see what happens next.
I can't say too much without spoilers but the "plot twist" was lovely and I hope that trend continues in future books!
The third book set on Martha’s Vineyard revolving around the Sheridan Sisters. The main focus in this book is Lola a d her search for love. She is torn between long time editor/friend Colin and the handsome loner type sailor Tommy Garsbarro with the dark eyes. Tommy represents a tie to Lola’s late mother. A sail from Florida back to the vineyard does not end well, causing Lola to question herself
Meanwhile Susan continues her courageous fight with cancer. Christine seems to be on track with her early morning baking
The bonds of sisterhood and family stretch and grow as each one supports the other in their trials and life experiences.
Great descriptions by the author and a sweet conclusion to this three part series
Thank you to the author for an advance copy. This review Represents my honest opinion
The third book set on Martha's Vineyard resolves a lot of the questions and problems laid out in this book and the previous two. Lola, the youngest sister, is upset by her daughter's pregnancy and her father and Susan's health problems. She feels a spark of attraction to sailor Tommy Garsborro, who had known her late mother. Their relationship has different phases, which complicates her life even more. This novel affirms the close sisterly bond and also the importance of family and friends. It was a very satisfying end to the trilogy.
I so enjoyed this book. The story of 3 sisters who have all returned home to Martha's Vineyard. The story is focused on the baby sister Lola and her life as it was and is. There is something on every sister in every book. So many questions Why does Lola feel attracted to Tommy? What is the outcome of Susan's chemo and what is going on between Christine and Zach? Then there is Audrey and her her expecting and Amanda and her upcoming wedding. A GOOD READ.
Grab the tissues— you’re definitely going to need them! Katie Winters has gifted us with another I’ll amazing read. The storyline is simply the best; the characters literally rip your heart out in places; so much angst...yet such a superb HEA. I was literally sobbing my eyes out by the last chapter. You definitely don’t want to miss the Sheridan Sisters finale! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally blown away by it.) ❤️❤️
I didn't understand Lola's fascination with Tommy at first. He spent his life sailing around and seemed like a loner like his step father Stan. She didn't know him very well when she decided to drive with him from Martha's Vineyard to Florida and then sail back on his boat for a story. I wouldn't have had the guts to do that. And then he gets so angry with her during and after the storm at sea I would have figured any chance of a relationship was over. But this book wasn't just about a potential romance. It was a continuation of the Sheridan sisters' progress towards healing and coming back together. There were some pretty intense moments. The ending was fitting for what they had gone through and wrapped up the series well.
This book was provided to me by Katie Winters the author for review. This is the third book in the series set in Martha’s Vineyard and it centers around the youngest Sheridan sister, Lola. She’s the fun and adventurous one. Really like how her story turns out and how all the family issues of past and present are resolved. Highly recommend this series you won’t be disappointed. Nice light read.
Enjoyed the conclusion of the Sheridan sisters. Lots of questions were answered and more unification of this family. Loved how they supported each other, through rough times and celebrated when things were good. Any reason to light up the BBQ and start celebrating. I received this arc for an honest review.
I've enjoyed this series from Martha's Vineyard. I especially liked this one, the story of Lola, what a great way to explain the mystery and bring peace and joy to all the family. Thank you Katie Winters for allowing me the opportunity to read this series.
This is the third in Katie Winter’s The Vineyard Sunset Series. I could not put it down. It was a beautiful story of a family and how they each, in their own way, handled tragedy, life, and love. It was not always easy but with love, family, trust, and honesty, they embraced life and blossomed!
Another great read! I loved how Katie told Lola’s story while continuing each of the other family members stories. I only gave 4 stars as I thought it was a bit too predictable. But still a solid read. I highly recommend it for a rainy day read!
With summer winding down, the Sheridan sisters & their passion for family, this book was full of possibilities. Possibilities of hope, Grace and forgiveness. Katie writes in a way that I felt part of the story.
August Sunsets: The Vineyard Sunset Series Book 3 is by Katie Winters. The fun just keeps going at the Sunrise Inn at Martha’s Vineyard. The Sheridan sisters are all back on the island taking care of their father, Wes, who has dementia. Audrey, Lola’s daughter, is now living with them while she is pregnant. Susan has reunited with her high school sweetheart, Scott. Christine has overcome her high school anger and has fallen in love with Zach Wilson, the Sunrise Inn Chef and has become the pastry chef. Christine has agreed to foster Audrey’s baby when she goes back to school and begins her career. Zach readily agrees and Lola has finally come around. Lola is relaxed as she finishes up a story about a Boston Brunch spot that is due that day. When she finishes and goes inside, she can’t find Wes. He has dementia and she is to be watching him, now he is gone. She decides to go towards the Inn thinking he went there. Relieved, she finds him in the woods, birdwatching! When she comes near him, he thinks she is her Mother, who had died years ago. Lola looks just like her Mother. However, he remembers her quickly and the crisis is averted. As they are finishing breakfast, Susan and Scott come in. Scott had taken Susan to her chemo. She had finally told the family that she had breast cancer. They take turns taking her to chemo. However, Susan is upbeat and today, she wants to go wig shopping, so the girls go together, once more strengthening their new relationship. Lola has been thinking of her next story and her boss, Colin, comes to the Island to see the island, talk about possible stories, but mainly to see her. Lola realizes he wants to rekindle their romantic relationship and she considers it; but in the end turns him down. Colin has come to tell her he thinks she needs to send out resumes to join bigger publications than his. He offers to help her in any way and wants to keep their friendship intact. She has fallen for Tommy Gasboro instead. When she takes Susan to her chemo again, they are near the marina and she goes over to talk to Tommy as he has just come into the harbor. While they are chatting, he mentions he is going to the Florida Keys and sailing back up to the Vineyard. Colin had told her he would take any stories about Tommy as his readers loved hearing about him. Lola suggests he keep notes and she interviews him when he returns and writes a story about his sail. He invites her to go along, experience it herself, and write the story. She finds herself agreeing and plans to join him, much to the approval of her daughter. Her sisters are not so sure about the sailing part as their Mother died when she was thirty-eight while sailing, ironically, with Tommy’s Step-Dad. Lola will be having her thirty-ninth birthday while on the trip. Read the series. No, I haven’t told you the whole story, not by a long shot. There is much more to the story.
Just finished August Sunsets. This book was mainly about the youngest Sheridan sister, Lola. It grabs you from the first page. Lola is a journalist. She loves adventure. The book also includes Susan , Christine, and Wes, their father. I loved reading about Lola and her adventure sailing from the Florida Keys. Wow! You have to read about her trip. Katie Winters, you have brought these three sisters and their father to life in such a remarkable way. I have loved reading about each of them and look forward to reading the sixteen books left in this series to see what else happens in their lives. Thank you.
Absolutely loved this series and the finale was everything that I anticipated. Lola's story was really beautiful and really explained not only her backstory but also her mom's back story as well. Meeting Tommy and Stan and seeing the reluctance of the girls (women) to have their interactions was heartwarming. Also the realness of Susan's illness and the reality of how her family is dealing with it and with Wes's dementia diagnosis rings very true. I wish there was more to read about this lovely family. I did receive a free ARC but the review is fully mine.
Go on a Wonderful Adventure with the Sheridan Sisters
I love this book. I could see Susan, Christine and Lola going all around the hose and the Inn. They became a part of my day and when they hurt I felt like crying, when they laughed, I felt like laughing. Read the first book and meet the Sheridan sisters and then this book. Find true love with them and go with them to meet their Mother's lover.
Another book in the journey of the Sheridan sisters. This book is about Lola the youngest of the three girls. The author has a very good way of filling the reader with the background and on going story of the characters and their connection to each other and the island. I enjoyed it greatly and can't wait to read the remaining books in the series!
This story is from the youngest sister’s perspective. Lola us know for being impulsive and making choices others would question. When Tommy is going for a sailboat trip from Florida to Martha’s Vineyard, she jumps at the chance to get time with Tommy and to write an article about her trip. So many different emotions creep into their journey and Lola finds haunting memories popping up along the way.
The last of this series where these sisters stick together as family but know they have to follow their own paths and destinies with life. A loner who can help Lola with unanswered questions but others don't understand her going with him. One sister who is fighting for her life everyday but always knows her family is there for her. Grab your copy today and enjoy these beautiful stories.
I won this book from Goodreads but it was the next for me to read in the Vineyard Sunset series! The sisters are familiar characters and this book centers on Lola, the youngest sister. It's a quick read and carries you further into their story. The writing is vivid and puts you right on the Vineyard. Off to the next in the series!
Enjoyed reading about the Sheridan sisters and the Sunrise Cove Inn. They returned after years away because their father had the start of dementia. Now they have to save the Inn and face all the secrets.
I have enjoyed reading this author because each book has its own unique atmosphere but the storyline flows between each of the books. I have read the first three books of the series and look forward to reading the other books in the series.
Some peoples strength comes from within…. To fight, cope, forgive and love…. This books shows all and how not all do it in the same way or the same speed. However; together in their pain for life to move on the healing needs to begin.
I chose this rating because once i started i couldn't put it down. Alot happens in a short amount of time. The sisters take it all in stride and continue with their lives. All ways looking to enjoy family and adding to that.
I'm liking this series--good characters, fun location (Martha's Vineyard), but it's pretty much like a soap opera. There appears to be several more books in the series focusing on different extended family members, but I'm not sure that I will continue with it.
