Hojo and Asami are halfway to the summit... But you know what they say; the higher you climb...
Double-crossing is in the air and taking up the Kobe alliance might be a tad difficult for Hojo. As for Asami, he’s looking for an axe to cut down Isaoka’s roots in the world of politics. Better sharpen your tool mate...
Ishihara is definitely a spent bullet. She was never up to the task and let’s be honest, Koike totally botched up this character. We could have had a strong female police officer opposing Hojo and here she is: useless and starry-eyed. What a pity!

My book is vol6 of 9. This is 6 of 12 so there is a difference. That said, now it is getting funky. Hojo wants the Yakusa to become respectable so the cops cant get them, a change that is true to life according to the interwebs. Everyone seems to want to wake up Japan and give the people a purpose so they find hope. Good luck with that, the Catholic church has been at it for 2K years and progress is slow.
Here we also see the why for Isaoka, he is a mirror of Asami, just a different generation from post war Japan. Wait ten years he told Asami, but of course when there is a fire burning in your belly you laugh at that. Have to love how much they expect from politics. I just expect them to leave me alone.
As Hojo says, the why for most Yakusa is to live well in the only way they seem to think is open to them. That is truth.
Now all know of the dark/light pair and Asami resigns. Tokai is on the move though, with a typical violent solution. What will Asami do? Will Tokai succeed? Will the Yakusa get GEDs?

4.1/5
Well this took a turn... things are escalating twice as quickly now, and with some extreme consequences and betrayals. Looking forward to Vol. 7!

A really surprising volume! Confrontations and revelations we didn't expect until the very end. Really no idea where it's going to go now!

The story is really picking up steam now! Wow. Machinations, ruthlessness and cleverness on all sides.
