The format of this book is wonderful. I love the concept of lots of photos from childhood through present and stories to accompany them. What keeps this from being a great book instead of a good book is unnecessary repetition, and too many long fawning pieces from people about Bret. I don't mind these testimonials, but they took up space that could have been used for more pictures and stories from Bret. I get that he wants this to be in his voice, but I think a good editor with a very light touch could help put the book in a better chronological order, weed out unnecessary duplication and free up space for more stories from the author. My favorite music bio bits are stories about being in the recording studio, and how songs came to be. In this volume we get a snippet, the story behind "the breath" in the intro to Every Rose Has it's Thorn. More of that please! An inspired format just needs a bit of tweaking to be an top notch effort.

This is a unique book, much like Bret Michaels himself! The format is great, featuring great pictures, and different font styles. Bret tells some great stories, and his positive energy pops off the page. This book is full of amazing stories, and this is barely scratching the surface. I can't wait for more volumes!

This is a fantastic book for any Bret Michaels fan. He writes just like he talks so his personality comes through in his writing. I’m looking forward to vol 2 so we can get more to some of the stories as he promised.

If Bret is putting it out I'm buying it! He is an inspiration with an amazing life story.

Some constructive criticism: Lots of typos and constant references to future volumes.
