She's off limits, but that's the hottest setup of all.
I want a bit of fun, not a relationship, and I've come to New York to find that. When a mix-up forces me to share an apartment with a sexy little American, it sounds like my dream come true. Except Arden Clover Pesti is my almost sister-in-law's best friend, and she's a virgin. And slightly insane. I shouldn't touch her. But when she purrs that she loves my British accent and sashays around in her skimpy underwear...
Arden talks about auras and aliens and microwaves frying our brains. Still, she has the sort of body any man would kill to enjoy for fourteen whole days. And I'm starting to realize she might not be as barmy as I thought. Still, I shouldn't get naked with her. It would be wrong.
When she begs me to be her first time, I forget all the reasons we shouldn't do this. After all, I'm the Dixon brother who does the wrong thing the right way.
One Hot Roomie is the second book in the Hot Brits series from Anna Durand, author of the bestselling Hot Scots series.
Anna Durand is a bestselling, multi-award-winning author of contemporary and paranormal romance. Her books have earned bestseller status on every major retailer and wonderful reviews from readers around the world. But that’s the boring spiel. Here are some really cool things you want to know about Anna!
Born on Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Anna grew up moving here, there, and everywhere thanks to her dad’s job as an instructor pilot. She’s lived in Texas (twice), Mississippi, California (twice), Michigan (twice), and Alaska—and now Ohio.
As for her writing, Anna has always invented stories in her head, but she didn’t write them down until her teen years. Those first awful books went into the trash can a few years later, though she learned a lot from those stories. Eventually, she would pen her first romance novel, the paranormal romance Willpower, and she’s never looked back since.

Alright. So the first book was okay. And I bought the trilogy audiobook so I figured, why not?
This book was so disappointing. At the end my first thought was “that’s it? 👀”
Where was the plot? Literally all that happens is they’re accidentally roommates, they resist each other for like 5 seconds, then they have sex for 2 weeks and are suddenly in love and getting married. The end.
🤷🏻♀️ I don’t even know.
Like the only personality we get is that Arden is quirky and a sex crazed virgin and Reece is British and doesn’t “do relationships”. That’s it. I don’t even know why they like each other.
Also, I felt like the British thing is played too hard. Like the American character didn’t understand him when he said “lift” instead of “elevator”. How would she not understand that? 👀
I don’t know. Overall I just didn’t like it. I don’t know if I’ll read the last book honestly.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Fun. I started and never stopped. The only thing that bothered me was her not understanding his British colloquialisms. I mean come on, we know that they call an elevator a lift. We know certain words and I was stunned she’s walking around, a well traveled woman acting like I don’t know what he was talking about. That was irritating to no end.
Arden, a quirky American heiress, and Reese, a British playboy, find themselves sharing an apartment in New York for two weeks. She's just come back from serving in the Peace Corps and has finally made the decision to shed her virginity, while Reese is in the USA for his brother's wedding and has strict orders to keep his hands off his sister-in-law-to-be's best friend.
At first Arden comes across as TSTL, but then we learn she wears her crazy as a jerk-repellent, especially around callous playboys like Reese. Reese prides himself on being "the Dixon brother who does the wrong thing the right way" until he realizes that with Arden, it's not enough and for the first time he wants more than just a good shag.
The insta-lust was no surprise given the setup, and there were several instances where either the characters or the writer is simply trying too hard. Are Americans and Britons really that easily confused by the differences in each other's vocabulary?
Still, the romance is easy, the passion is white-hot, and the bonus of getting to attend Chance and Elena's wedding was well worth the shortfalls. This isn't the author's best work, but if you're reading this series you won't want to miss this one. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
ONE HOT ROOMIE is the second book in the Hot Brits series. Though it stands completely on it’s own, I’m convinced anyone who reads the book will have wanted to read the first book as well. Besides their both wonderful.
Though I loved the meet cute and dates that Arden and Chase had in this story – in other words it was a wonderful romance – there was substance missing from their backgrounds. This could have been solved had I got to know them before they met each other or if I got to know each of their backgrounds as they talked to one another during their dates.
On the other hand, I was not disappointed in the romance or the comedy. It is full of the laugh-out-loud moments and scorching hot chemistry that I expect from Anna Durand.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC from the author, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: ONE HOT ROOMIE Series: Hot Brits #2 Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: received as an unedited ARC / errors excused Received from: Anna Durand
My rating range of this story... 2.5 - 4 Stars If significant, why? The H's continuous chant of I can't have her through 65% of the story. Thank goodness for the skip forward button!
Main Character Ratings... H = 4/10 h = 8/19
Narrator Rating(s) M = 10/10 F = 10/10 If below 5/10,why?
Was cheating involved? No Any major triggers to be aware of?
Scenes with heat... Yes What point does it start? 40% How much of the story? 10% Anything beyond M/F? No If yes, explained
Heat Rating... 7/10 Clean or Fade to Black - 1 or 2 Normal to Descriptive 3-5 Detailed Descriptive Sex - 6-7 Um, Wow, Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above
Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? Three orgasms in just a few minutes?
The back story... The H is having a rough time in England after being laid off from his job and just feeling sorry for himself so he decides to go to the US to get laid. He stays at Elena's apartment and finds out the her best friend is also crashing there. Instant lust until his brother says hands off. Then 60% if his dialog revolves around "I can't have her"... Ugh!
The Romance... Super fast, especially once they get it on.
The drama explosion... There really wasn't one.
Final Notes... I do enjoy the stories that Anna writes but I wish she would cut the constant repetition by 50%. It will still have the same effect but it won't drive readers like me insane. It is a fun story and worth a listen!
I found this book for free on Amazon via Freebooksy; this is my honest review. -Throughout the book you can see either Arden or Reese trying to seduce the other and it works at some point or another. It was fun to watch/read. -I thought Gram was a hoot. She will be missed when she dies. -Reese and Arden had good chemistry; I could see a sweet love starting to develop; it just didn't scare Reese enough. Arden was a bit of a mystery in most things. -Like other reviews said, many questions about Reese and Arden's past were left unanswered and I think it would have helped understand them a bit better. -I think Reese, Arden and the author completely forgot that Reese had a room at the hotel nearby. -In the first book, Chance and Elena's house was big enough to have everyone, including both their families and friends, to sleep over at their place. In this one, there's only 2 rooms, taken by Dane and Kyle. What happened? -Here again they joke about trying out someone else in bed to prove that their partner is the best. Considering that Reese had a lot of practice and Chance was cuckolded several times by Raisa, it's really not funny. -I thought a bit unbelievable to got to four different museums/aquarium/zoos all in one day. Just one outing can take three to four hours. And they did a repeat the day after? No, I don't think so.
Awh man, i really enjoyed this book. i know ive read alot of these types of books, but this was good. i loved the aspect as a guy actually trying to be polite and not sleep with the girl even though shes mad hot. also just so happens she wants to lose her virginity after being away for so long, 28 and a virgin? damn girl. and just so happens that there was a mix up and shes knowing sharing an apartment with a super sexy guy and its not creepy?! damn now what would happen if the guy was wasnt hot and 250 pounds hhaha, dont get me wrong its a book shit like this dont happen. but i say that about every book and its why i LOVE THIS SHIT. makes me all steamy and im sure my husband is probably annoyed about me talking about my soft core porn. also i listen to these while driving to work, and i swear when i get there is when the sex chapters happen. wait ive stopped talking about the books. needless to say i loved it and i think it was great she stumbled upon the right guy for her, i love how open they were with eachother and there wasnt secrets. there wasnt some huge part where they dont talk for weeks or yadeya which was a nice change, just straight honesty so thats a yes for me. ive already started the next one cause i forgot to changed on here that i finished it. woops
I love the Hot Scots and their American spouses. The characters were well developed and the story lines entertaining. I can say the same for the first book of Hot Brits. So I was very disappointed in Hot Brits #2. The characters were not very well developed.
This book is about Chance's youngest brother, Reese and Elena's BBF, Arden (the main characters of book #1) sharing an apartment due to a miscommunication between Elena and her brother two weeks before Chance and Elena's wedding. But the characters needed more substance to them, than what was provided. Why did Arden go to Ecuador to work for the Peace Corps and what did she do when she was there? Why does she suddenly decide she no longer wants to be a virgin? Why is Reese anti-relationships? He doesn't even know. The whole story seemed very shallow and not the usual depth and details that the author usually provides.
I read an ARC from the author as part of her review crew and this is my voluntary and unbiased review.
(audiobook+ebook) Another short read by Anna Durand, still hot and short, and I like the virgin trope, so I enjoyed it. This time, the characters take a bit more time to know each other before falling in bed, which I liked–but don’t worry, there’s a lot of sexy scenes before they do the deed.
Since Reese is visiting America for the first time, the language barrier is more pronounced–no pun intended–and makes for some fun moments, though they become repetitive after a while.
Narration is still good, as expected from talented narrators. A fun and sexy ride, though everything happens fast due to the limited length of the book.
Quickie
- Series: Hot brits #2 (can be read as a standalone) - Hashtags: #forbidden romance #forced cohabitation #playboy #virgin - Triggers: N/A - Main couple: Arden Clover Pesti & Reese Dixon - Hotness: 4/5 - Romance: 3/5 - + I loved Arden, she’s the right kind of crazy - – the “I want to do like my brother and bang an American” thing had been done in the Hot scots series… by the same author
3.5 This is a fun, lite-hearted summer read. There is little angst and lots of courting. Reese and Arden have chemistry from the start, and it comes off the page. These are two enjoyable characters to spend time with. What I liked about this book is that the story is about a couple who fall in lover and their dating in its simplicity. It’s one of those books that you can consume in one sitting that will leave you chuckling and happy by the end.
Arden is quirky and that adds spice to the story. We get to see the couple from the first book get married and their interaction with the couple in this story. All the side characters show dimensions to the main characters’ character.
The story didn’t blow me away, but it was enjoyable and I’d recommend reading this series.
I highly recommend listening to this book on audio as the hero is British and hearing the accent adds to the story. The narrators did a good job and are easy to listen to and understand.
Steel & Remy: triggers- sexual assault, kidnapping, assault, drug trafficking, theft, bribery, embezzlement, cancer. This book had me in a chokehold all night. Without getting into too much detail. Remy and her friends are college students. They run into bikers in the parking lot where Remy sort of meets steel. Steel is the SAA for the Vikings MC and he knows immediately that Remy is his. So he makes his move. The book is extremely hot and exciting. Especially with these two characters. Then worlds collide and all of a sudden the FBI is knocking on Remy 's door and threatening to arrest her. The prospect the club sent undercover to a rival club is in trouble and so is one of Remy's best friends. Now the club and Remy have to work together to straighten everything out and protect what's theirs. Such a good MC romance. I'm excited to see what happens next.
Taking a break and wanting to cross the pond to America, Reese arranges w/his soon-to-be sister-in-law to move into her former room in an apartment she shares w/Arden. Reese is all about hooking up w/as many American ladies have him. When he meets Arden, Reese has set his charms on her—until his brother Chase deems Arden off limits.
Arden is determines to get her V-card punched, and she’s decided it’s going to be Reese who gets the honor. Reese wants Arden, but he doesn’t want her to do something she’ll regret. But Arden can be very persuasive. And soon, they’re embarking on a physical journey, and a turn of events catches them both off guard.
Reese and Arden were so adorable. There’s plenty heat between these two.
Shane East and Vanessa Edwin narrate this story beautifully.
Another fun and spicy romance with a hot Brit and a hot American from Anna Durand. Reese in an America for a holiday to decompress when he has an unexpected roommate, Arden. Arden is Elena's BFF and she's back from Ecuador where she volunteers her time helping others. The two are complete opposites. Reese is more reserved on the outside but is adventurous inside the bedroom. Arden is a free spirit and doesn't apologize for who she is. I loved these two together and they were a lot of fun. Their tension was super steamy and hot.
Shane East and Vanessa Edwin did an amazing job narrating, per the norm. You can never go wrong listening to these two together. They are definitely one of my favorite narrating duos.
This is the second story in the Hot Brits series. The hero is Reese, the youngest Dixon brother. The heroine is Arden, the best friend of the heroine in the first book of the series. The characters themselves are quite different this time, as is the path to their HEA.
There are some good secondary characters, including the main characters from the first story in the series. I especially liked Grams! Two people who are definitely not looking for love suddenly find themselves head over heels in it. This is a fun story and an easy read, with some good laughs and hot encounters thrown into the mix. Looking forward to reading this story of Dane, the last single Dixon brother.
Book 2 Dixon is Chance’s brother and moves into Elena apartment but when he gets there and finds Arden Elena bff half naked. Arden is very cucky and say very random things but this is a coping mechanism for people coming after her money. Dixon finds her interesting and crazy. Absolutely love there relationship and how they develop when they decide to live together. Can not beat the narration for this fantastic book. One of my favourites so far.
One Hot Roomie is #2 in the Hot Brits series. I loved, loved, LOVED this story about Reese and Arden. They are more than perfect for each other! Reese is Chance’s brother (Hot Brit #1) and Arden is Elena’s bff. I laughed so hard at some scenes (it’s packed with laugh out loud moments!) and had a huge grin on my face while reading this book. It is so funny!! Talk about a feel good story: this definitely is it!
I received a gift copy from the author and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
This book was so much fun, sexy and entertaining. I laughed out loud and I don’t think I stopped smiling. Like book 1 this book had me from chapter 1 and I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t put it down. The hot chemistry with the sexy Brit was on fire. The narration was absolutely brilliant. Fantastic storyline. This is book 2 and can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend this book/series!
This is overload cute, romp, and fun short story! It was quite delightful how things turn out and how early chapter you want more of them. The hero, Reese, the youngest Dixon brother & the heroine, Arden manage to be themselves and their openness of possibilities are magically perfect. It was nice for a change not a lot of drama or angst. It was smooth writing about these two. I truly enjoyed it.
Arden & Reese are the best friend and brother of the couple from the first book. Arden is just back home from Ecuador & Reese is visiting from Britain before his brother's wedding.
The audiobook has really good voice actors. It has both a male & female voice actor. I really enjoy audiobooks that use more than one narrator.
Arden is Elena's best friend and has just gotten back from Equador. Reese has traveled to New York to meet and bed an American girl. They both end up staying in Elena's old apartment and sparks fly. I enjoyed their story just as much as the first book. I can't want to keep reading books from Anna Durand, they are very fun romances.
Good narration. Arden wants to finally lose her virginity. Reese wants to sleep his way through New York City. They wind up staying at Elaina’s apartment together and forming a friendship. Arden is quirky and fun. Reese is fun and carefree. Chance tells him to keep his paws off her, and actually listens. They have a great time, and fall in love.
It was a good book. I liked how their relationship progressed, it felt really natural. I liked how Arden took control of things and wasn't afraid to go after what she wanted. And Reese, trying to do the right thing but you can't fight what you feel
80% of this book was the main characters talking/thinking about doing each other. There was no other plot. Normally that wouldn't bother me too much, but so much about it was uncomfortable and unrealistic, so I wasn't able to get too into it.
Arden and Reese - interesting couple. Arden the virgin and Reese is the playboy. Arden wants Reese to be her first and although he tries to resist her, but she is persistent. Reese falls head over heels for Arden and the next thing you know, they are engaged. Cute story with some steamy points.
