Keep your secrets to yourself, and you won’t get hurt; it’s none of their business anyway.
Catch and Release at Club Angelus no longer holds any appeal to Dr Michael McIan; the kind of play he favours is intimate, and it hurts too much to let the submissive go after the scene.
But one day a couple walks into his surgery, and they respond so sweetly to him, his resolve to stay vanilla weakens. He should keep his distance; he refuses to get in the middle of their marriage.
Then they come to him with the most tempting offer…
*This is an MMF romance with MF, MM and MMF scenes.
Marilize is an author of historical romance set in Cape Town, South Africa, but writes short stories inbetween for fun.
She used to comb the libraries and second-hand book sales for out-of-print copies of Afrikaans historical romance novels by authors such as Wille Martin and Ena Murray. She has always had a fascination for Cape Town history and Regency Romance, and thought to introduce the rest of the world to Regency-era Cape Town.
She's tried her hand at many different occupations, including working at a riding school as riding instructor, trail guide, stable manager, saddler, and horse handler on TV shows. She's worked as freelance typist, photographic assistant, maintenance contractor's assistant, Public Relations Consultant, and Administrative Assistant. These days she is a proud member of ROSA (Romance Writers' Organization of South Africa).
She lives with her husband and son in Muizenberg, Cape Town, and is currently hard at work on her next novel.
Michael by Marilize Roos Dr Michael McIan encounters a married couple, Tristan and Judith in his medical rooms. Tristan needs stitches and forgoes the anaesthetic, which ultimately puts him into a subspace. Judith is well aware she wants more out of her sexual life, even though she loves her husband, and on the whole, she is satisfied. But she knows she wants more and secretly she has seen the signs in her husband. Dr McIan is an experienced dominant and he is bisexual. He is attracted to both Judith and Tristan. When the couple approaches Michael, he is willing to help them, even if it means his own heart will be broken repeatedly. Tristan is a masochist but new to these experiences and Michael is there to guide him through it all. Tristan is adamant that he loves his wife and that he is not gay, and that he would never cross that boundary. Michael has a few secrets of his own, but he can’t deny his attraction and the comfort he feels with this new duo, and yet his vulnerability is there at every turn. While Tristan fights his inner self, Judith is there to help him. Michael is patient even when he knows he is opening himself up to heartache. Can Tristan be the man he is supposed to be? Will Judith and Tristan’s marriage survive? And will Dr Michael McIan survive this ordeal or will he find what his heart has always desired? The more I read of this talented author, the more I love her books. Her writing is easy and flows, the explanation is clear and the subtle, well thought out plot grows with anticipation. You feel her characters inner turmoil and you can relate to them. The conflicts, the coming to terms with what they have, their own limits, but most of all, the love story will just leave you feeling so satisfied. On the whole, I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more from this talented author.
The first Club Angelus novel from Marilize Roos, Michael was an interesting read that initially had me a little uncertain . . . somewhat unsettled . . . conflicted even as to how I felt about it all, but the more I have thought about it, the more I came to appreciate how realistic and genuine it felt.
The first few chapters were absolutely fantastic, the first time I have ever seen a medical procedure (stitches without anaesthetic) drop a man with no BDSM experience into subspace. With that unique scene, Roos had my attention. That doctor turned out to be an experienced Dominant, a bisexual man who finds himself tempted to cross professional boundaries with this novice masochist and his beautiful wife.
What I found so genuine about this was really three things. First was Dr/Master Michael’s vulnerability, something not often seen explored in a Dominant. He desires this straight man to be his, to submit to him sexually as well as for punishment, and he is hurt time and time again by Tristan’s rejection. Second was Tristan’s conflict between submission and desire, between love for his wife, respect for their Master, and fear of his own hard limits. It would have been all too easy to just have him suddenly declare himself bisexual, but the story makes him earn that self-revelation. Last is Judith’s awkward position between the two men, wanting them both, loving them both, and wanting to bring them together. She is not a selfish cuckoldress or a wanton slut, but a housewife who is navigating a new kind of polyamorous BDSM relationship.
The emotional element of Michael was fantastic, and the power exchange was beautifully done, with as many scenes of bondage and punishment as exhibitionism and voyeurism. Just an altogether lovely, realistic, romantic work of polyamorous power exchange erotica.
What pleasure to read this book from author Marilize Roos. The characters are captivating, exciting, and emotionally charged. Michael is a bisexual dominant who has survived and overcome a tragedy. While he has found a new normal he still craves that connection with someone special. While covering for other physicians one weekend he meets Tristan and his wife Judith. The spark is instant for Michael and the Dom in him senses that both are naturally submissive. What he doesn’t know is that Tristan and Judith are considering a solution to help with their similar needs sexually. Quite by accident, Michael sees them at Club Angelus observing from afar. Are they interested in a D/s relationship? Things begin to heat up quickly when the couple decides to explore their desires and ask Michael to help guide them. Beautifully written with the right amount of chemistry between the three characters.
This was such a fun book to read. I had some words I needed to look up and such because it's not traditional American English. However, that doesn't take away from the book at all. I rate a 4 because I think there could have been a few pieces that fit together a little easier, but that would have made the book a bit longer. There were some good spicey scenes. I look forward to reading more in this series, I think it has good potential to grow.
★ Beautifully told story - eagerly await the next installments to this series ★
—>>> This was a beautifully told story of a married couple who was missing a tangible something in their lives, which they discover in a doctor who had treated the husband’s head injury in his clinic. The way it unfolds is very organic, and respectful and sensitive to Judith and Tristan’s boundaries. Reluctant to risk his heart again, wishing for a deeper relationship, and still dealing with the after effects of a motorcycle accident two years ago, Michael finds himself quite attracted to the couple and recognize them both as submissives. Tristan, however, while indulging his wife in the exploration of their needs in Michael’s very capable hands, remains emotionally steadfast in being unable to admit his deepest and darkest desires, and this refusal may just end up destroying what little inroads gained every time he baulks in his Dom’s presence, hurting Michael and Judith in the process. Working through their issues together was a very engaging journey to read, and I eagerly await the next installments to this series (especially Mistress A’s story)!
I had the pleasure of reading this book before it was released and I loved it so much I pre-ordered a copy as well! Bi-male Doms are sorely lacking in erotic and romantic literature, so I was thrilled to spend time with the sexy titular character. Michael is absolutely my idea of the perfect Dom... he focuses on aftercare and respects his partner's limits. Plus, the scenes were realistic and smoking hot! I also appreciate that each"couple" in the triad had their own relationship and intimate time together; this was extremely important to me since Judith and Tristan were in a monogamous hetero relationship before getting involved with Michael and I feel it would've been disingenuous to solely focus on the new relationships. If you like romance, body positivity, and super sexy BDSM scenes, you'll love this book.
This is an incredible book, showing the process of a man exploring his sexuality, a woman blossoming into sexual confidence, another man coming to grips with what he sees as a shameful injury, and the three of them growing into a deep, loving, kinky poly relationship. The polyamory and the BDSM are real and believable - there are so many authors who just don't get it, and write extreme and misleading fantasy kink. I wish I could give this book more stars, because it is head and shoulders above so many books I have been giving 5 stars to!

Oh wow I so loved reading this book...it is also the first time I have read a book by this author and I just loved reading this with its emotional highs and lows as well as finding the right balance when bringing in a third to a relationship. Michael is a bi-sexual dominate who has loved and lost big time and has so wanted to find a relationship with a someone, so while working at his practice he meets his next patient Tristan and his wife Judith. Tristan and Judith have been together since their teenage years, but their relationship has staked a title bit so when they go to a BDSM club on a friends recommendation to get ideas on spicing up their relationship... I loved that we got to know each of these characters with their complexity’s as they come together to overcome each little problem and feelings as they work at making their triad work...a highly recommended read from me.
Michael was a really interesting read. Michael was a dom who wanted to find a sub, and after taking care of Tristan, he was hoping to make him his submissive. But Tristan had a wife, Judith. Judith is the one who wanted to spice up their relationship and hoped Tristan would go along with her. He would do anything for his wife. So Michael offered to take them both on, and that’s what they did. It was a good read and I loved the story. You have to read it yourself, it’s also funny in parts. And not to mention how sexy the three of them were. ❤️🔥❤️🔥
I totally loved this story! The characters were superbly written and the story had so much heart and was so believable that I was pulled into their journey immediately and didn't want it to end. A heart felt exploration of the characters sexuality and their daily struggles. So very sexy and loving! Highly recommended!
I loved so much about this book but the respect that Michael gave to Judith and Tristian’s marriage was probably my favorite. Even though he is the dominant in the relationship, he would never do anything with either of them without knowledge and consent from the other. In certain situations, you felt the emotions they were feeling; love, insecurity, etc.
This is my first truly Dom/sub read, and while I certainly enjoyed it, I felt terrible for Tristan. Maybe it's a problem with "authority" that I have, but I feel like he was thrust into the lifestyle without much context and "coerced" to submit through fear of losing his wife or making her unhappy.
All in all, I enjoyed it, and if someone wants a kinky read, I would recommend it.
Sigh, the story of Michael, Tristan & Judith makes me long for another triad relationship. Well thought out characters & fun, interesting plot line. Even learned several new words, as this is set in South Africa. I'm a fan.
What an incredible read by this new to me author. The journey you are taken on is full of angst, sadness, happiness, most definitely lust and quite possibly love. Michael is a Dominant who hasn’t had much luck with find the right Sub or Subs, due to many reasons. So when he unexpectedly meets Judith and Tristan, he is thrown completely off his axis. He knows on his heart they are who he has been looking for, but can he convince them to give it a try?
There is something so endearing about all three characters. Judith wants to rekindle the passion between her and Tristan and feels that Michael would be the one to bring them together. But can Tristan get past his beliefs? Can Michael be the one to show them what real love is all about? I loved everything about this book and can’t wait to read more by this author!
Loved it. Dr. Michael McIan has pretty much stopped playing, seldom goes to Club Angelus -- it just hurts to much to play and let the submissive go, so he resolves to go vanilla. Then he meets a couple at his clinic. The attraction is there and Michael tried to disregard it because they couple is married and clearly in love with each other. They depart, but unbeknownst to Michael, the couple, while in love, are both submissive looking for the other to be more dominant. When they meet again and eventually discover they're all attracted to each other in various stages of denial. Add meddlesome family and the fun begins. Thoroughly enjoyable. Definitely recommended.
Marilize Roos is a new author to me, but I'm so pleased I discovered her work. Michael is the first BDSM book I've read where a Dominant has taken control of a couple, and I found it to be quite enthralling. I'd certainly read more books with this dynamic again. Michael's history was quite sad, but I look forward to reading more from this series and finding out how he and his subs are getting on, as well as getting to know the other players at Angelus. Definitely worth a read!
