Lovable Grumps #2

My Confused Cub

Rate this book
Jay - I’m not what you’d call a “people person”. I prefer peace and quiet over crowds, and I’d rather bury myself in paperwork than have a conversation. It’s not that I dislike people necessarily, but I do hate their drama; I’ve got enough of that shit in my personal life. I recently learned that the man who raised me isn’t my biological father; rather, my father is a grumpy asshole named Brooks. The news broke my family apart and I originally took all of my anger out on Brooks, but I gave him another chance thanks to a man named Noah, who is now engaged to my father. He’s also four years younger than me. So yeah, I now have three dads, and I’m older than one of them. Brooks and I now get along great; under his gruff exterior, he has a heart of gold, especially when it comes to Noah and me. My mother reconciled with her husband, and Noah and I are best friends. But the drama doesn’t stop there. For some time, I’ve been questioning my sexuality. I’ve never had a successful relationship with a woman, and haven’t even fantasized about a woman in nearly four years. Who have I fantasized about? My silver fox of a boss, Mr. Taylor. When he began starring in my self-love shower scenes, that was my realization of, “Hmm, maybe I’m not as straight as I thought I was”. Even though Mr. Taylor is at the top of my list, it’s not just him that I’m attracted to; I’m drawn to men older and grayer than me. But don’t I have enough drama with older men in my life? Is this a weird extension of my daddy issues? I’m confused as hell and haven’t come out to anyone. Can I even do that when I don’t have any experience to speak of? “I think about my boss when I touch myself” isn’t the type of thing I’m ready to share with the family. When I get tough news at work and my life gets tipped on its head, a drunken night and a pity party for myself leads me on a path of self discovery, and I learn that maybe things aren’t so confusing after all.

Vic - While covering a shift at the bar I own, I’m drawn to a handsome man with pain and confusion in his pretty gray eyes. When whiskey opens his floodgates and he divulges his story, I learn that this tall, broad bear of a man is as unsure and nervous as a little cub. He’s having trouble finding himself. He needs someone to take their time and show him everything he’s missing; someone older with more experience who will be patient and gentle. Someone like me. My last relationship was with a younger man, but it ended in disaster, and I’m not keen on reliving that experience. But no-strings-sex with a hot younger man? Oh, hell yes. All I have to do is not get attached. What could possibly go wrong?
*This M/M May-December low angst romance is for readers 18 and up! It follows an insta-love relationship on the fast track. It has no cheating or cliffhangers, and a very happy HEA.

I live in rural Ohio with my husband and two sons who drive me nuts, but I love them with all my heart. I enjoy reading and writing romance of all types, but gay romance is my forte and favorite! Twice the sexy men? Yes, please! My books tend to be low angst because it hurts my heart, but they do contain lots of heartfelt moments, steamy scenes and a healthy dose of humor. Thank you to everyone for checking out my page and I hope you enjoy my books. Happy reading!

Sweet and hot couple

I'm so glad I found this author's work. I've enjoy the sweet and sexy feel-good romances. For quick reads the characters are interesting and well developed. I adore Brooks and Noah and now Jay and Vic..happiness on a page.

This is the sequel to My Grumpy Bear and it’s also sugary sweet. I enjoyed these books. I have to admit that I usually cry happy tears when the main characters become engaged or married. These books are so sappy that they made me laugh at these tender moments. I know I sound critical, but I actually thought it was fun. Every book doesn’t have to be a classic to be enjoyed. So, if you’re looking for a sweet romance with little angst and a lot of joy then this books for you.

Such a warm and gooey story. I’m so happy with Jay’s story. Vic was such a perfect match for him. Someone to be caring and understating while having no chance of not giving Jay his whole heart. Jay was honest and real and didn’t let Vic get away from him. They were so hot together with their explorations. This book was a heartfelt sigh in written form.

We got to catch up with Brooks and Noah. That epilogue was EVERYTHING! I would love for these stories to go on and on.

Jayda has such a writing style that you don’t even realize that the end of the book is right around the corner until it smacks you in the face. She writes such sweet and sexy characters that feel like friends after just the first few chapters. She is a must read every time a new book is released. Another home run with My Confused Cub.

Holy crackerjacks. Ok. I know to be fair I should wait a few hours to come down off this high before I comment or review but I CANT. Jay and Vic were so cute I died. When Vic had his freak out (or whatever you'd call it) Jay was a freaking GRIZZLY (instead of cub... Get it?). He was swift and decisive and did not pause even a second to set him straight. For a guy who until recently was so confused and unsure of himself that was amazing.

I CRIED (ugly style) during Brooks and noah's wedding. NO ONE does romance like jayda marx. Hands down. Period. Mic drop.

Very sweet. I enjoyed this one even more than the first and I am also glad the first couple is also in this one and there are updates on them.

Read the first book first if you plan to read both.

The narrator did a great job. Even singing again in this one.

Lovable is right!

Can't say enough good things about this author. This series was grumpy bears, she has wolves and vampires. And they are all sweet as sugar and make me happy.

Jay had it rough in the beginning and I wanted to give him a big hug! But then he met Vic and everything started to turn around. The older man showed him pleasures and they clicked on so many levels. Their love story was beautiful and the epilogue tied the series up in a perfect package.

A Lucky Cub

Sometimes we all just need some insta~love to make us smile. I love that I can read and re-read all of Jayda's books whenever I just need to be happy for a while. I love Jay and Vic, I mean who doesn't want a sexy tattooed man with a sexy silver beard. I also loved that we got more of Noah and Brooks and their story. So good!

I liked a lot a lot a lot !!! That was exactly what I needed to forget about the awful book I dnf this morning !!!
I didn’t know there was a sequel to “ My Grumpy Old Bear” one of my fav books and my 2nd fav couple. I was happy that HoneyBear and Sunshine are in a big part of the book. They’re the sweetest and cutest. And I thought they couldn’t get any cuter!! I felt hard for them hard all over again. It makes wanna reread that 1st book. I think I might do it now but there’s another book of this author I want to read as well.

Back to this book, Jay (Brooks/ HoneyBear ‘s son) and Vic are adorable together. The age gap wasn’t palpable, the author handled very well. Their 1st meet drunk Jay at Vic bar pouring his heart to that sexy owner was hilarious.
The pace wasn’t slow and not fast either, their “help to explore Jay sexuality” arrangement didn’t last long and they were honest with each about their feelings as soon as they figured out, it didn’t bother me that much.
The sex was hot and lovely. They’re both versatile which I appreciate a lot in sexual exploration and 1st time.
I got tired of the virgin Mcs who’s always a bottom. Such a clichè!!

I loved how Brooks the softy sweet bear with a big heat is very protective over his son and how he freaked Vic out with his grumpiness and questions. He cracked me up 😁
“ Did you take advantage of my son?”
“ “If you hurt my son, I’ll make it so that no one ever finds your body.
- I believed him. Hand to god, I believed he’d do it and not even feel bad about it. “If I hurt him, I’ll deserve it,” I countered, and Brooks finally smiled at me.
“- Now that was a good answer.”

😆😆

One of my favorite part is Honey Bear and Sunshine wedding, it was perfect and made emotional. These two are really made for each other and they’re truly are soulmate. Sunshine is the perfect fit for his grumpy Honey Bear.

The epilogue is everything. Sweet, fluffy and endearing. Brooks jealousy and possessive even after two years of marriage and 3 or 4 years of being together with Noah is freaking adorable.

Jay and Vic are amazing together but HoneyBear and Sunshine are the highlight of this book 😬

I highly recommend it

Wonderful

I love this author so much. Everything she writes is amazing. This book was so good. It was great to see Jay find his truth and Vic was just perfect for him “sigh”. It was fab to see Brooks and Noah, to catch up on what was happening in their life. I cannot recommend this book enough, wonderful end to this series

Finding yourself

I really liked the first book in this series but I think I may actually like this one more. I really loved how authentic and genuine it felt. Jay (aka Jonathan) was completely believable and adorable in navigating his confusion regarding his sexuality. The questions that he went through felt honest and I really loved how he embraced himself so easily. Vic was the perfect counterpoint - older and more experienced, but kind and sweet. I loved how easily Vic found himself falling for Jay and how they worked through their misunderstandings. Having Brooks and Noah feature in this was the perfect wrap up to both books and made the HEA that much more complete. Jayda Marx is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints me. Sweet, low angst and lots of sexy times!

This was a great addition to the Lovable Grumps series. I loved watching Jay grow more comfortable with who he was, and Vic was his perfect match. Vic showed him all of the great things he was missing through smoking hot interactions. I laughed so hard while reading this, and also teared up with happiness. It was awesome to check in with Noah and Brooks and to see how they were thriving. The epilogue was beautiful and a wonderful wrap-up to the series. Highly recommended!

Amazing

Jay was not exactly like his dad but almost. When he lost his job he had been questioning his sexuality. Then one look at Vic he realized there was no question about it he was into men. When he has to much to drink and lets all his secrets out to Vic. Vic feels something for the younger man but decides to help him through his discovery. It's sweet and hot. A great read.

Beautiful

Loved Jays coming out story . Vic is such a gentleman the first night they meet . While Jay is deciding if he's gay or not , Vic is wondering if he can cope with getting involved with a much younger man and getting his heart broken again . Highly recommend. Would read book 1 first

Happy to see Jay's story

I loved getting to read Jay's book. Jay, Brooks son is questioning his sexuality and is in the dumps when he gets let go from his job. He turns up at Vic's Bar and meets the man himself. It's all yumminess from there. I love that we get to see Brooks and Noah too.

A sweet wrap-up...

It's nice to see characters you care about continue their happy ever after and this little nugget of joy did exactly what it was supposed to. Gave us some Bear on Bear action and wrapped up the set very nicely. I think you'll seriously enjoy it.

This is a follow-up story to My Grumpy Old Bear. This book centres on Vic and Jay, Brooks son.
Always believing himself to be heterosexual but not very sexual it was a very slow realisation to Jay, that he was actually gay. But he was soon enjoying learning from Vic.
