Juno & Ezra #1

When October Starts

Rate this book
Juno

As his student, I should’ve kept my distance.

Out of all the guys in the world I could’ve fallen in love with,
it had to be my new teacher.

We fell in love slowly, hidden from others.
Keeping it secret, and falling deeper each day.

But no love is perfect, and we learned it the hard way.

When the truth came out and he left town, he left me broken and alone.

He’s to blame, at least that’s what everyone says.
But to me, he’s still the greatest man I’ve ever gotten to love.

And when October starts, no one can tear us apart.

This is a student-teacher age gap, taboo romance.
It’s emotional, deep, and contains detailed sex scenes.
You have been warned.

Well what a pleasant surprise this story was. If you’ve read Forbidden by this author, you would understand why I was expecting a far more explicit read. Although When October Starts was a taboo read (if you’re age sensitive) this was surprisingly sweet and dirty all in the right places.

Juniper isn't your average teenager (yep she’s 17) as she's been raised by same sex hippie parents and attends progressive schooling. Thus making it satisfying to have a heroine who was alternative and independent. And it's these very characteristics that draws new teacher Ezra right to her.

It all begins innocently, with a teacher/student interaction and assistance that comes with that dynamic. But as they coincidentally start spending time together, their situation progresses to more. And an attraction blossoms until it's burning and irresistible.

"Slow, sweet girl. I wanna enjoy every second of this. Let me take it slow before I show you how hard I can fuck you."

So begins a relationship in secret as Ezra and Juno count down to a time they can be out in the open. To a point why the can't remember why it's wrong.

"But I’m not too old for you?"

I shook my head. "No. You’re perfect for me. There’s no way I can tell my heart who to fall in—" I shut my mouth immediately, staring into his eyes while I cursed myself for almost saying that one word.

He tilted his head, studying my face carefully. "Wanna finish that sentence, sweetheart?"

If you're looking for a romantic novella, with a hint of forbidden and plenty of heat, snap this up. Plus a dirty talking genuinely nice Ezra was very appealing.

“If you love me like I love you, we’ll meet again when October starts.”
I went into this book expecting it to be much more taboo and explicit, like the author's other ones are, but much to my delight, I was pleasantly surprised. This was a beautiful and sweet story.

“When you’re around it feels like a breath of fresh air. It’s like a storm coming up, but in a good way.”

When October Starts is an age-gap student teacher romance. What I loved about this were the two main characters. They were both really mature and honest with each other, and there was no unnecessary drama here.

I was only seventeen, and he was already an adult, but who said that it wasn’t okay to catch feelings for someone who’s older or younger than you?

I previously read two other books by Seven Rue, but I couldn't connect to either of them, but now I'm counting my lucky stars that I decided to give her books another chance!

I really like books that make me feel and think, instead of just spoon-feeding information, and this delivered that in spades. ♡
As long as your heart’s pure, and as long as you go into it for the right reasons, who’s to say who you should and shouldn’t love?

❝He was that one person I found, but never looked for. He was my happiness.❞

When October Starts was a great student-teacher age-gap romance. I don't know why I've been reading a lot of age-gap books lately, but seems like I'm in the mood😂

I really enjoyed this book! It was my first time reading something by Seven Rue, and she didn't disappoint me. From the minute I started it, I couldn't stop reading. Best two hours of my day! 😍😍

Ezra and Juniper a.k.a Juno (that name is gorgeous, I haven't heard it in my life) had an absolutely beautiful relationship without unnecessary drama. I was afraid there were going to be a lot of it, but gladly there wasn't and that was perfect.

This was exactly what I needed! I loved every chapter. Although I know it didn't have the best writing in the world, I read this so fast and just in one sitting. However, I don't know if I will read another book from Seven Rue because her other works are not in my comfort zone (I know they're very very taboo), so I think this was the best for me.

I highly recommend When October Starts if you want something fast-paced and easy to read✨✨

4-4.5 ”Forever kind of love” stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was only seventeen, and he was already an adult, but who said that it wasn’t okay to catch feelings for someone who’s older or younger than you?
That’s the whole point of love. You fall for one person, no matter who they are.

Now I get what all the fuss was about. I feel like this author came out of the blue and stole our hearts with her dreamy writing. I have heard so much praise for her taboo and emotional romance books and now I finally understand why. Her writing will suck you in and make you feel as if you’re there with the MCs. I adored her uniqueness and that for a short book, it still packs a punch. I was saving this one for just the right setting to read and with the beautiful weather these days in my city, I knew I found the right moment.

Juno was the heroine I could relate to a lot. I liked her quiet nature, zoning out in her own thoughts, nature lover and funny personality. She definitely seemed wise beyond her years even thought her innocence showed sometimes.

Ezra didn’t move his eyes away from me, and the longer his gaze lingered on me, the more I started to enjoy it. There was something about him that made me relax and not overthink for once. Something about him was incredibly soothing. But it shouldn’t have been.

The connection between her and Ezra wasn’t instant but instead built as they spent time together. Her seduction was both cute and sexy at the same time.

”What’s your favorite season?” she asked.
“I’m starting to like fall a lot,” I told her, turning my head to look at her again.
“Starting to like? What’s making you change your mind?”
“You,” I said bluntly. Her eyes widened, and then that infamous frown appeared between her brows again.
“Why?”
“Because you remind me of it. Your natural dark, copper hair matches the leaves, your eyes look like dark blue, stormy skies, and then there’s your whole aura…” I hoped I didn’t sound like a total creep, but I couldn’t hold it in any longer. She was beautiful, and I wanted her to know.

Ezra was tall, dark and handsome. I loved the way he described her beauty. Each time they were together, the sensual tension grew between them.

Maybe it was a mistake coming here with her, but there was something so fucking intriguing about Juno that I couldn’t stay away from. She pulled me in, and I let her.

He knew they had to keep their time together a secret which made it all the more forbidden. He simply adored every little thing about Juno especially her snarky mouth. Their banter was light hearted. The chemistry between them explosive.

Soft moans escaped her, and while she tried to keep her eyes open, her hands moved into my hair and tugged on it. “Ez,” she whispered, arching her back and trying to get my mouth on her tits again.
“Slow, sweet girl. I wanna enjoy every second of this. Let me take it slow before I show you how hard I can fuck you.”

With how calm and sweet he was, his dirty talking mouth was surprising and left me all hot and squirming.

There are so many things I loved about this book. I liked the little town the author set up, the way she described it, the time on the ferry and the lake. It all felt peaceful and mesmerising and so serene. There’s no way you won’t fall in love. Ezra and Juno were a star crossed lovers.

”I miss you. I’m sorry,” I whispered.
“Don’t,” he sighed, and I knew he was running his hand though his thick, wavy hair. “I love you, and I’ll wait for you. Don’t forget about me, Juno.”
“Never,” I sobbed, and that was the last word I said to him before he hung up the phone.

I simply went into this expecting a filthy student-teacher taboo romance but instead I got a breathtaking and beautiful romance between two lost souls. It was so much more. The hard time they had to go through made me shed a few tears because that’s how badly I wanted them to be together. And the title, I truly understood the meaning of it after finishing this book. And that cover is absolutely stunning 🔥

If you haven’t read this gem of a author’s work, then I highly recommend you start with this one. ♥️

( P.S: Thank You K since it was your reviews that pushed me to read this author’s work. )

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨💫 4.75 stars

I absolutely devoured this book! It was an amazing find. Not as taboo as Seven Rue’s other books, but, as a student-teacher romance, taboo enough. There was a bigger age gap than most student-teacher romances, about 17 years (loved that). This broke me out of a little slump! Definitely my favorite Seven Rue book!

Juno is loving and sweet and incredibly unique. She is all her own, I haven’t read a heroine quite like her. Her quirkiness was also so well portrayed, the best I have seen. I loved her!

Ezra was quite responsible, but also really succumbed to love. I really liked him as a hero, he almost worshipped Juno and supported all her quirks.

I loved that Juno had two moms, but I feel like gay moms are often portrayed as out of this world weird instead of fairly normal people who happen to love the same gender. I would like to see a book that normalizes it a bit more. I also didn’t like that she called her non-biological mom her first name. There are plenty of words for “mom” that aren’t “mom” so you wouldn’t get confused. Nonetheless, it was amazing that there was that representation! Thanks to the author!

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend!🖤🖤🖤

Well this book is a little gem, isn't it?
And i didn't expect such a sweet story 😍😍😍
After Forbidden, and knowing this was a taboo story, i thought It would have been more steamy. Instead it's a beautiful story about love.
And i loved how Ezra & Juno's bond grow stronger through the book.
I even enjoyed the little angst moment at the end, 'cause it made the HEA more meaningful.

Amazing, Sensual & Heart-Wrenching Read

This is hands down one of the best books I’ve read all year. I was moved from the start. I felt her longing so deeply. I’m kind of in shock. I saw a comment from the author in a Facebook group saying that said she wrote the two forbidden books and this one in a month. I don’t know how you pull off that level of emotion, pathos, and depth, writing so quickly. She treated the relationship beautifully. The characters were real. I felt their pain. This writer has serious talent and I can’t wait to keep reading more of her books.

Well well well.. I already set my head to read something dirty from miss Rue here, but turns out it took a turn to romance and I don't blame her for that because I do need a good romance to make myself sane for a bit.

Turns out I cannot stop myself to rest not to read this book and in the back of my head it also quite reminds me of PenDoug's Birthday Girl which I love obviously! both of them quite similar in a different way. I guess from how it represents as age gap-romance. but if you starting to compare both.. you'll definitely cannot because of the vibe of the story and writing style it's completely different.

In conclusion.. would absolutely going to looking forward to another story from this author in the future!

Heroine 16/17 years old
Hero - 34 year old
Student/teacher romance at a progressive school

Spoilers below.

I did not really feel a connection. I thought the hero was too old for the heroine.
I did not really care for the hero.

Ezra was a wishy-washy hero.
He compared sex with Juno to his ex, Olivia.
He car pooled back to Canada with his ex over the holidays. Felt he needed to and felt sorry for the ex. Pathetic.
Ezra was a tool. I did not believe that this relationship would last. I think one of Juno’s moms was right, Juno should have waited!

Reading is subjective. You may love this story. I skimmed a lot of chapters.

No rating. Because this book IS practically fanfiction of the movie "Molly Maxwell" as so many of the plot beats and settings are lifted from. I would have liked it a lot more if I hadn't already seen the movie. I guess it's nice they get together in this version, but yeeeeeeah. I could write a list of all the ways this book lifts things from Molly Maxwell, but I'd be here a while.

Edit: One star because it is Molly Maxwell.

This was a nice, quick read. I fell in love with Seven Rue’s other books and I enjoyed this one too.

I love forbidden romance and the student-teacher trope is one of my absolute favorites. Ezra was such a genuinely nice guy and I loved him and Juno together.

4.5⭐️ for me.

Omg, it took me so long to finish reading because of college starting. I really liked this one, though the ending...I need a part 2. I really felt their connection, even though it did happen very quickly. (They did not resist their feelings for each other at all for the most part lol.)

I’m in love with Ezra and Juno!

I was hooked and did not put this book down until it was finished! What a beautiful love story, Ezra was every bit the perfect gentleman with a firm sexy hand to him when needed and Juno was full of sass and sarcasm which I loved and chuckled at over and over. Well done Seven Rue again! Love your books.

I really enjoyed this book. It's right now my favourite one of Seven Rue. Mainly because Ezra and Juno had many scenes where they got to know each other and you could feel that there's something more than a physical attraction. And I LOVE Juno. She's so extremely sarcastic that I couldn't stop laughing at some things she said.

So 5 well-deserved stars.

This isn’t my first read from Seven Rue, however, the first two books I struggled with getting into, but I was intrigued by this book and decided to check it out and I am so glad I did.

When October Starts is a forbidden, age gap, student/teacher romance. While it is taboo and there are plenty of steamy scenes this book had so much emotion behind it.

Juno is 17, a high school senior. She is full of sassy and the girl is hilarious. She’s an old soul. Ezra is 34, a teacher where Juno goes to school. He’s charming, sweet, loving and the man is dirty. The moment they met there was chemistry. They knew their love was wrong, but you can’t fight the connection.

The story took an unexpected emotional turn and my heart literally broke. You could feel all the pain and emotion coming from these characters.

While When October Starts is a forbidden, taboo romance this story was so much more. It was beautiful and emotional from the very beginning. If you don’t mind age gaps/taboo romances this one to check out.

This book is a student teacher relationship and I loved every thing about this book. My favorite thing was that the love interest was named Ezra so I immediately thought of Pretty Little Liars the show that got me through middle school. This books spicy is good and their relationship is excellent. This has to be my 3 favorite seven rue book that I have read and I have read 7 of her books and many more to read

Nice read...but nothing new from others age gaps, student profesor kind of genre.
There is some major connection missing here, we needed more teasing and burn chemistry between them. I hate also how he compare's her with his ex. Not nice at all.
Let's say it could've be wayyyy better...

This was such a lovely, lovely, lovely book. I don't get where all the bad reviews are coming from? The only reason i took away one small star, was because i enjoyed it so much i WANTED MORE & the plot wasn't as intense and complicated as i wanted it to be, meaning that i love me some intense and long (till the last page) plot evolution. But that doesn't mean i didn't melt for this one..

First things first, the author writes in such a magnificent way and tone, that made me fantasize all those aesthetic autumn landscapes with the rain and the lakes and the feelings..lovely, purely lovely. Lovely once again. The characters were okay, given the depth intended and i loved them both, their story as well. I felt the love coming from them both and the years apart between them did not affect my judgement. Big age gaps are an "issue" that needs to be handled with care, as many people will judge and call out on your "daddy issues" (don't we all have them?).Anyways, i tried to be objective while reading this, not getting affected by the sensuality this book brought up ( AND IT WAS A LOT OKAY, A HELLUVA LOT ). I loved the gentleness in this and the feelings were real; i loved it i loved it i loved it . It wasn't the typical romance story (i don't get why they call it taboo?) but it screamed adult romance to me. This is the content i love to read as the emotions are running high and it has a natural flow yall, A NATURAL FLOW. I felt the intensity and once again, i adored it.

I would definitely recommend this book for one heartfelt romance, felt by two souls and not merely bodies.

My heart is warm once again ♡
