Icky. Mr Darcy is nasty.

This three book series is rated MA. (Notice the author's nom de plume.) The first book has no sex scenes but more descriptions of Elizabeth's figure and then Darcy's physical discomfort as he notices or thinks about that.
Mr. Bennet has died and Elizabeth has answered an ad for a governess and then while traveling in the coach sent by "that family" overhears the coachmen talking about how she is to be delivered to a brothel. She leaves the coach which departs with all her belongings and begs for employment at the inn where they stopped. With only the dress on her back she soon looks bedraggled. That on top of That she is pawed and propositioned as are the other women working in the inn. It is there that Mr. Darcy comes upon her.
Seeing her there and learning of what has befallen her he literally drags her with him to Pemberley, orders new wardrobe for her and then offers her a position as his mistress. Elizabeth leaves during the night and walks into Lambton where she attempts to trade her new slipper for a position on the next post leaving. Darcy again retrieves her and takes her back to his estate, where now an offer of marriage is also turned down.
And so it is that we must now read the next in this series. Will her reputation make it impossible for her to be anything other than some man's mistress or force her to marry far below where her position in society had been when her father was alive? Did anyone recognize her when she served at that inn? And with Mrs. Reynolds showing her disdain of Elizabeth how does she expect to have any respect in Darcy's households...if she would even change her mind about any of his offers?

A very nice one read! How is it possible to combine angst, laughter and romance in a short novel? Bella (Demi Monde) managed to do just that. Can’t want for part 2. Thanks for letting me read the ARC!

A rather interesting twist starts off this variation. I’m dying to know what happens next and can’t wait to see how Elizabeth fares.

I’m going to write a cross book review for these x4 + books. I’ll post for each book. So spoilers ahead. Beware.
This story starts with Lizzie trapped as a serving maid in a dubious establishment after she is tricked to go work as a governess, a job that doesn’t exist. Lizzy finds out she’s being taken to be a light skirt in London and escapes, taking a job at a public house.
Darcy, due to a storm, stumbles across this house and spots Lizzy. He discovers enough of her story to insist on taking her with him to pemberly. Lizzie resists of course but eventually agrees.
Now what can Darcy do with her. Her reputation is sullied by no fault of her own and he still wants her. But it would be unsupportable to marry her. He rather stupidly asks her to be his mistress, with earns him a reddened cheek and a jaunt across the country.
I’ll say no more but this is a nice slow burn sexy as hell series I’m really loving and cannot wait for part 5.
