When an unimaginable horror is unearthed in the jungles of Brazil, British Intelligence has no choice but to send its best man. Unfortunately, the best they can lay their hands on at short notice is Blake Drysdale.
Inebriated, down on his luck and wallowing in self-pity, the renegade aviator is about to face his deadliest foe in a pursuit that will take the world to the brink of annihilation. Old friends and enemies return as Blake races desperately to unravel a dark plot from his own grim past and prevent an act of vengeance that threatens to turn the Cold War hot.
A Shield after the Wound is the third book in the Blake Drysdale series and is an entertaining thriller.
Blake Drysdale is such an interesting and flawed human being. This addicted man is called upon yet again by MI6 to resolve a threat in Brazil. I am really enjoying this series and am looking forward to more in the series.
Despite being the third book in the series this is my first time reading anything by this author and I found that I was easily able to understand and enjoy it. The main character which the book and series appear to be centered around is Blake and he has a lot of flaws that make him likable. The plot is an interesting one and easily held my attention from the get-go. Lots of action, drama and adventure in this great book, a real pleasure to read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Blake Drysdale is back, hooked on opium and alcohol to battle his hurts, the physical and psychological ones after Sally left him. But as a horrible threat emerges in Brazil he's called into service again by MI6. His adventures against a very dangerous foe will unite him with the love of his life and bring back some people from his past. Absolutely entertaining like the first two books. Just grab it if you like James Bond and/or Indiana Jones.
