Raven Alby is back at the academy and training her dragon. Time for final exams and the Festival of Dragons. No room for distractions like a tall, dark dragon trainer.
But Raven has found new clues about her late parents’ death and is on the hunt. What she finds leaves her with more questions than before…
There’s a secret that spans two kingdoms and could start a war. Does it solve the riddle of the wall? Magic is returning, bringing up old grudges and exposing a dangerous truth.
Will Raven be able to defend the Kingdom like her mother once did? The War Mage takes to the skies on her red dragon with her friends by her side. Only time will tell…
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Raven has a lot to absorb, mysteries to solve, and an unknown new enemy to battle. With Leander and her friends by her side, she will succeed in what she sets her mind to.
The surprises jut keep coming, and definitely keep us readers on our toes! The unusual way Raven problem solves cities to work for her and stun everyone else. Another excellent story with a great balance of action, fun, fierceness, and new revelations.
I love how this book especially, & the series, focus on the friends instead of just Raven. Each character is distinct & they are quite believable. (I miss them between installments!)
Join Raven, Leander & friends for their magical adventures in Lombordoon. These teens are keeping their country safe, even if no one can know. (I am anxiously awaiting the next book! So, how long?tx )
I didn't ever think William and Raven would get together. Took them long enough!!!! I got a little nervous when the creatures from the sea had taking her. I was worried that something had happened to her when she was helping with the fire. I was glad to see she made it. I'm excited to see what adventure Raven is onto next.
Once again, I couldn't stop reading this series, and this book in particular, so it's now past 4 a.m., and I need to get this review written, before I sleep - if I sleep first, all detail will be lost!
Just like all the previous books, this was a riveting read, which I, as usual, thoroughly enjoyed.
All of Year One at Fowler Academy are taking their exams before the Summer break, and Raven is fretting that her Grandfather is still away from the Farm.
But, when she does eventually hear from him, it's not the news she was hoping for.
When her exams end, she and Leander go to visit William Moss and, on hearing that she has a week free, before she'll get her results, he invites her to go with him to a special, week-long meeting with other Dragons and their Trainers.
Raven agrees, as long as her friends, Henry, Murphy, and Bella, can go with them.
But, pending disaster always seems to follow Raven and, when yet another danger finds her at the Camp, it will take everything she has, to try to make things right!
I must admit, I'm finding all of these things happening around Raven, quite fascinating, and am very much ready to start reading Book Six: 'Warmage: Unrelenting', once I've caught up with my sleep.
So, once I've done so, and have read it, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it!
Whoa. Two consonants, two vowels. Whoa. There are no "alternate spellings". There is only spelled and misspelled. You are both better authors than this. Also, your editor and alpha readers should have caught the mispellings too. What on Earth is happening that such a common 4-letter word is spelled incorrectly. This is a typical middle-of-the-series book; nothing is resolved, a few plotlines are advanced and some foreshadowing occurs. Events from the past bear fruit in the present, such as the death & coverup of Raven's parents by a man from a nearby kingdom. The lies told to both populations might have prevented war from erupting then, but may have merely delayed it until now. Wild magic is returning, chaotic and destructive. It is a huge, glorious mess! I might be back to watch the end. It depends on the editing & updating. I know it seems petty, but sometimes we each have a line we don't like crossing. This one is mine. 7/10 unicorns for poor editing and rambling storylines. 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄
Raven and the other first years are getting close to exam time. Once they finish their exams they have time off so William invites Raven to go to the yearly Dragon trainer gathering and she brings along Bella and Henry. They are looking to have a great time, what can go wrong. Oh dang I should learn to not say that!
They just keep getting better. I can't find enough good things to say about this incredible series. Martha and Micheal constantly outdo themselves. I enjoy the relationships. Between the friends, the families and the mates and their familiars. Leader's snark makes me smile, and I was thrilled to see Bella get to save the day, sorta, this time.
It's the end of first year for Raven and the gang, full of studying and final exams... Once those are done they have a week to wait to find out if the pass... So they go on a kind of camp out, many things happen for Raven, both good and bad...
Loved this story. Waiting impatiently for the next book in the series. The imagination it's takes to continue to write such intriguing stories is out of this world. To be able to transport the reader into the story is amazing. Love, love it.
Another outstanding Warmage story. About a third into the book I thought the story was dragging. Then comes final exams. The story picked up and kept me engaged to the end. Thank you Martha for the awesome surprise with the flightless dragons.
Leander and Raven are just plain fun to read about! Such a great twist on magic and dragons! So worth the time that flashes by with these books Howard S (the S stands for super fan)
The story amps up in this entry to the series. The characters continue to grow and mature, and remain as engaging as ever. Looking forward to the next book!
This volume in the series pulled me in right away. From the first chapter to the last was action packed, intense, funny, sad and I had a hard time putting it down. I can't wait for the next installment. Well done!
Raven ends her first year of study at the mage academy. But as usual, excitement otherwise known as trouble finds her. Wild magic is being unleashed by untrained people as magic returns to life. A good read.
What a very busy book this was! I can't imagine how a sixteen year old was able to accomplish so much. Final exams, war mage practice, new love, friends, grandpa, red dragon, falling off said dragon. Busy! Can't wait to read the next book.
Well Martha and Michael. Have written another wonderful novel. About Raven, Leander here familiar and the rest of her crew. This time about her finals. From their first yeaer of mage school. As well as certain of their adventures too.
I highly recommend this fantastic book, and the spectacular series in which it is, to readers of all ages that love reading enthralling well written Fantasy. Enjoy!
I love all of the books in the war mage series and hope that We will be able to read another book at some point in the future now that the last book is out
