Freya knew that she would take her place as Queen one day, she just didn't expect it to be so soon. Taking over from her father would have always been a daunting task, but someone has opened Pandora's Box, and only an Angel can close it. Meaning that only Freya can close it. But after one too many cryptic warnings, Freya has every reason to believe that Fate intends closing the box to be the death of her, and it will take a miracle to defy her. Pandora is the thirteenth book in the Freya Snow urban fantasy series. If you like kick-ass, sarcastic heroines, immersive magical worlds beneath our own, and love that crosses the lines of magical feuds, then you’ll be instantly hooked on L.C. Mawson’s fast-paced urban fantasy series.

Some say she's an ancient creature of nightmare that was unleashed from beneath the ocean, come to devour the souls of men. Others say that she's a cosmic being from the beyond the stars that has taken corporeal form to learn our ways for some unknown end...

In truth, L.C. Mawson lives in a tower in the middle of a haunted forest, far from civilisation and is definitely not a witch who curses those who trespass upon her land. And she definitely cannot turn into a dragon that flies over cities in the dead of night and whose cries are often mistaken for an approaching storm. Where did you hear that? That's absurd...

The only contact she has with humanity is publishing books every so often, which is definitely just for fun and not part of an ancient contract with a trickster god.

Freya knew she was going to be the Queen of the Underworld because her father was the king, but she knew she had time until her father would die and she would have to take that position. When her father gets sick and reveals that he is dying, Freya is distraught. Not only does she have to deal with her father being gone, she has to deal with maintaining order in the Underworld as she transitions from Princess to Queen. On top of all that, Freya’s mother is back in her life and Pandora’s Box has to be closed, and Alex is back in her life after several years of being with the Enhanced.

This book truly shows how Freya has grown throughout the series. At first she was a teenaged foster child, unsure of herself but eventually sure that she had a crush on her friend Damon. Then, she was in her late teens and gaining her powers as an Angel, and falling for an Enhanced human named Alex. Now she is in her 20s, happily married to Damon, and preparing to name her fiancée Alex as her heartbond. She thought that everything was going well with her life, but now her father dies and her mother is back as a ghost. When she was a teenager, she hated her mother for leaving her on Earth as a baby and not helping bring her back to her father, the King. Now, she is a Queen, older than her mother who is frozen as a 19 y/o ghost, and she has lost both of her parents. I am unsure of how close we are to the end of the Freya Snow series, but this book seems like a perfect setup for the end. Freya is finally reaching the peak of her powers, and she even has all of her true loves by her side. It is truly a beautiful thing to read.

I also enjoyed how Alex was woven into the story. Damon and Freya are both autistic, but Alex is not. There are some things that Alex picks up on that Damon and Freya would not. There are some connections that Damon and Freya have that Alex is not a part of, whether it be magical or just emotional. But she still manages to fit into their dynamic. I’m unsure if Damon and Alex are ever going to have a romantic relationship or if they will always just be connected through Freya, but I am happy either way. The only thing I was confused about was how Jan would weave into this story. She is technically still with Alex, but Alex is living with Freya in the Demon World. I hope this is cleared up in the next few Freya Snow or Engineered Rebel books!

I finished this book quickly as I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next with some of my favorite characters. This book didn’t end off on the best note though, and I can’t wait to find out what happens to Freya and her friends/family/lovers in the next installment of this series. Everything is at the point where all the side series are crossing over with the main Freya Snow novels, and it is really unique to be able to see what the side characters are also doing while Freya is going through this time in her life. I would definitely suggest to check out the Engineered Rebel and Royal Cleaners series if you are enjoying this series!

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an adult LGBT+ romance novel.

I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

Pandora (Freya Snow Book 13) - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The mythical Pandora's Box has been opened by a traitor from the Underworld Realm,(ruled by King Edric and his second Queen, Persephone, aka Seph), on Earth releasing a maelstrom of troubles that threaten the planet's very existence - if Freya Snow can't find a way to close it again, in L.C. Mawson's fantastic Freya Snow series, of which Pandora is #13.MC Freya is a complex being; Princess of the Underworld, (later Queen), part human, part Demon, part Elemental being, Dark Angel, heart-bound lover to a female part-human, part Dragon Shifter, Alex, married to Damon, the son of her deadly enemy Lord Uther, who has designs on her life - and throne, betrayed and abandoned by her mother Lily and grandmother Amber (both dead), host to their Ancient entity, Ku, in her Shadow Mind Palace and mother-to-be of Viktor who will inherit  both her and Damon's family magic, if he survives the battles ahead for his parents. The hard choices Freya must make, the dangers she must face and the sacrifices she will have to make would be hard enough for any supernatural being, let alone a young and untried heroine in the rough, but L.C. Mawson has a sure and certain touch when it comes to delivering an outstanding new novel in the Freya Snow series with Pandora - a myth from Ancient times that will leave you spell-bound and so glad you have a chance to enjoy a wonderful fantasy like no other!

L.C. Mawson’s Freya Snow is one of my favorite fictional characters. The series she stars in is one I frankly hope never ends as I’ve tremendously enjoyed every single book in it. Now, incredibly, we are up to the “lucky 13th” book, Pandora. I say incredibly as it really is incredible that the quality of this series has held up so consistently. I won’t summarize it as the publisher’s blurb does a perfectly good job. Instead I’ll simply note that once again we have a fun story that’s imaginative and well written. Freya is in perfect form, the ideal sarcastic kick-a** gal (my favorite sort of character), and her supporting cast is simply ideal. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

I very much enjoyed reading this addition to the Freya Snow series. Quite a lot of difficult emotions, especially towards the end, but I love the way Mawson explores these emotions within the context of the magical world, especially the relationship between magic and emotion.

One thing I particularly appreciated about this book was the way it revisits and recontextualizes things from previous books in the series, allowing me to consider them from new angles. Overall, I think this has been a very meaningful addition to the series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the thirteenth book in the Freya Snow series, and is certainly unlucky for Freya - she loses A LOT over the course of the book! But she does gain some things too, as well as trying to fix Uther's latest scheme - unleashing Pandora's Box on Earth - and battling his minions. A good read that Snowverse fans will enjoy, and with only two more books left in this series, I can't wait to find out what happens, and if Freya and Damon will ever get their happy ever after!
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

Great tragedy. Harrowing story. Life has never been easy for Freya. The events in this tale aren't any better. But there is good to come out of it. A fabulous cast of wonderful characters abound.

I received a copy of this book as a gift. I am leaving my honest review.
