Night club owner Rick Cowan approaches criminal defense attorney Tex Hunter, and presents an offer that Hunter can’t refuse. But Rick Cowan isn’t a regular client. He isn’t faultless, he isn’t friendly, and he isn’t clean—his past is littered with violence, agony, and decades of fraudulent behavior. Cowan claims he’s innocent of the felony drug charges, claims he’s been set-up from the inside, but the evidence against him continues to mount.
Determined to smash a corruption racket involving convicted felons, business owners, and the Chicago Police Department, Hunter works the case, treading closer to the threats with each step, closer to danger with each day. The corruption racket was built on violence and deception, bribery and exploitation, and the members would continue to protect their reputations, even if it cost a defense lawyer his life.
Digging through years of testimonies and decades of criminal activity, the evidence twists into Hunter’s own past, uncovering information about his family that he never knew.
But to uncover the evidence, to reveal the truth about his family’s past, Tex Hunter must face his own demons, and risk his own life to expose it all…
I was looking for a new set of legal thrillers, and I have to run across Peter on Mahani and started reading book one that was four days ago and I just finished book number four. The storyline is absolutely mind-boggling. Intriguing spell bonding awesome author going to start on book number five.
I’m loving the twist in this series. I just love the opening and closing statements of both the defense and prosecutors. I love being in court with Tex. I wish there were lawyers like Tex today who believed in justice and truth. A lawyer that’s loyal to his client like Tex. But what’s the deal with author obsession with the numbers or the jurors #5 and 10. I think these numbers are mentioned in book 1-4. No big deal, I’m just nosy. And author please don’t turn your series into a romance novel. Please take Esther out, we don’t have time for all that sweet nothings and being soft, we got to find Natalie, rescue Alfred b4 he die in prison, keep fighting crime and corruption. Ok, book #5. I can’t wait to find out all the secrets and conspiracies, the big man boss.
A journey that is decades long has challenged defense attorney Tex Hunter. Will it ever end? Meanwhile he gets involved in the defense of a corrupt owner of a strip club. While I love this story, the author doesn't understand how cold and windy Chicago can be. The story moves along without reference to boots, coats, gloves, scarves, driving on ice, central heat, and snow.
I've read all the books in this series so far. They have all been good , interesting in ways I haven't found before. The characters are realistic and pull you in to the story. Guess that's the point, right! Another way this book and others in the series are different, are the jokes interspersed in the story. I enjoy them and the quirks it adds. So it looks like I've got a lot of reading to do as I continue on.
I have read this author's books out of order and have completed his next series before starting this one. I could tell that this one was his first as it was not as accomplished as the subsequent series, however, still a cracking read. Refreshing to have a lawyer whose parents come from a criminal background. Also, Tex is just a normal lawyer, no bells and whistles, just hard work and gets the job done.
Tex defends a corrupt businessman who he believes the cops have setup for a crime he did not commit. Talk about twists! Tex only defends Rick Cowen in order to get a file on his father’s case. Tex wants to prove his father’s innocence. He finally gets possession of the file but there is one big surprise in it! There is a witness to the murders his father was convicted of! But you will have to read the next book to find out the murderer.
I am a sucker for courtroom drama –– and this book had everything you could ask for. And the corrupt guys! And the heroic stripper –– what a book! My only objection is the hero is a little too starry eyed for my taste. As is the author, I think, about the „Law“.
The suspense of Tex trying to find the real killer of the teenage girls that his father was convicted of is a definite bonus to the Tex Hunter series. Each book has a story with lots of suspense, twists and turns, Definitely keeps you turning the pages. On to book 5. I totally recommend this series and Peter O’Mahoney’s other series. Love them.
Captivating, can’t wait for the next book. Longing to see if he can actually prove his father’s innocence. He deserves to know the truth and also to put it out there for all to see. However, he might just be disappointed to find out that society would not necessarily change their view even after revealing the truth.
What a fantastic book. So many things happening and keeps you wanting more. Excitement in not knowing what was going to happen.I can not wait til the next book in his series . Highly recommend this book and all Peter O'Maoney! stories. WOW!
I am pleased when a series continues to unfold rather than repeat the same formula again and again in a different way. Tex actually seems to nature a bit each time, and the plts are always entertaining.
While Tex takes on a corrupt client in exchange for a file that will prove his father’s innocence, the case takes unexpected turns. Is there really a file, and if he wins his case, will his client turn over the file?
A very intriguing and entertaining story of corruption and the effects of the coverup.
The author has written a very intriguing story of a client’s crime and his actions of deception to get him off. Very enjoyable reading that is sure to keep you entertained and guessing.
I have fallen in love with this series. The books continue to get better; I keep thinking this is my favorite. This thriller is definitely worth reading!
This was a thrilling novel with court room action and twists and turns thru out! BUT, after a saga of a read you came to an end where the real villain and outcome was unknown.... read book 5 to follow up and maybe have closure.... I hate reads like this!!
I'm an avid reader of Letter Mahoney books and, while not best, Deadly Justice was an interesting book. I will continue reading his books to get the true mystery of his family.
Every twist every turn you cannot put the book down. Yes looking for information about his father will revet you to a chair as you continue with this series of very well written books . Please keep writing Peter
This book, as well as the entire series, has pulled me in and I can't put the book down. The twists and turns, the family, the need for justice and truth keeps you involved.
Another thrilling, captivating, easy read by O’Mahoney. His writing style keeps you guessing and never gets boring. This is his 7th book I’ve read and I can’t put his books down. I’m so glad I stumbled across him on Kindle.
Isn’t it a great find when you realize what a master storyteller you find when reading this series. I have worked down from last of series to Arlie’s stories. They’re all great. Keep them coming.
I found myself addicted to this character and his fight for the truth about his father. I haven't read the second book yet. Somehow I skipped it. I don't know whether to read the last one first and then go back. It's that engrossing.
I cannot believe he gave us one little morsel of information and we need to wait for the next book!!! Tex needs to get together with Esther, he needs to be happy!!
Loved it! As all others said, I’m waiting for #5. I “discovered” this series later I read the first one, so I was able to read 2-4 without a pause in action. Fantastic way to read a series.
