A disillusioned special forces operative who’s almost given up on the world…and the brilliant weapons scientist who refuses to let him.

Battle-weary SAS officer Garrick no longer cares if he lives or dies. He’s tracking aliens, intent on vengeance. Instead he finds a feisty bio-weapons engineer in mortal danger. Protecting the sexy scientist while escorting her to safety wasn’t in Garrick’s plans, but his sense of duty won’t let him leave her with her life in peril.

A traumatic childhood taught Dr. Anna Ward that the only person she can trust is herself. But then her lab is attacked by the insectoid Chittrix. With time running out, Anna is forced to accept the help of the rugged soldier to make sure her vital research is put in the right hands.

As they escape across devastated London, their battle with the invaders heats up almost as fast as the fiery attraction between them.

Despite vowing to never get emotionally involved with any man, the dark and brooding soldier quickly works his way under Anna’s skin and into her heart.

For Garrick, protecting Anna reignites the lust for life he had almost forgotten and he’s willing to sacrifice everything to keep her safe.

Garrick is a full-length post apocalyptic scifi romance novel of 67000 words. It is recommended for readers who enjoy a lot of action (lethal insectoid aliens, explosions, daring escapes), steamy romance and lots of sexy times, all wrapped up in one book.

If you're the kind of reader who loves high-stakes romance grounded in real-world research—with damaged military heroes, complex plots, and women who won't be rescued—hello. You're my people.

I write intense, tightly plotted protector romance with covert ops, real-world threats, and hard-won love. My heroes have protection in their bones and loyalty in their hearts. My heroines are smart, self-reliant, and ready to fight—for others, for justice, for love.

Still mad Ripley never got with Hicks? Me too. So I fix that—with heat and redemption.

Beachman gives new meaning to the term "bug-out."
London has fallen. Giant alien insects have decimated mammals of the two-legged variety. Pockets of humans are fighting a losing battle, but deep in a research bunker Dr. Anna Ward has finally perfected an armor that stands a chance against the destructive aliens. In the meantime, special forces soldier Garrick and his team decide a swing by the research station might be worth their while. The initial meeting of bio-weapons expert Anna and weary soldier Garrick is decidedly hostile, since she thinks he is a scavenger there to steal her tech. Luckily, he proves himself over the next couple of days as the two battle evolving alien insects, brutal living conditions and strangely adapting botanical life. Their journey from the research lab to Garrick's decommissioned military bunker outside London is fraught with danger while their attraction to one another grows out of bounds.

The author has put a decided focus on horror-level science fiction (exploding bugs and super-creepy evolution), while simultaneously putting a pretty decent focus on stress sex. The romance suffers a little in all the action-suspense drama. I am an avid reader of sci-fi romance, but this one ranges right at the top of books that takes the sci-fi to a super creepy realm. If you like the heebie jeebies elicited by movies such as the Aliens franchise or Starship Troopers or even the spider scenes in Lost in Space, you will probably enjoy this book. The world has become a pretty devastated place thanks to colonization by the Chittrix. (A little shiver just ran down my spine thinking about it).

Anna and Garrick as a couple are too busy to ponder falling in love, but they manage it anyway. However, I felt the connection was a little lacking, and I wanted more for this portion of the book. While I understand that love-on-the-run is tough to pull off, I have seen other authors manage the emotional link with better finesse.

The sci-fi and battle elements rock, however. There is a ton of action and the creative slime juices are flowing with the alien insects. Beachman managed to put together a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi world I haven't read about much in the romance-twist genre. Kudos for putting something fresh out there, while completely creeping me out at the same time.

I plan to read the other two books in the series already available and this book is FREE on Amazon.

The gross-ness of the invading alien bugs pushed this into the horror category for me, a genre I don't enjoy. Otherwise, it was a fast-paced story of survivors racing through a destroyed London to escape the invading bugs.

GARRICK started out pretty strong for me but the second half fell off a bit. I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic romances and this had the usual fun set up, this time bug-like aliens who have invaded Earth. Garrick helps rescue Dr. Anna Ward from the lab she's been hiding in for the past 6 months but don't be mistaken, Anna can definitely take care of herself. She and her fellow scientist have been developing armor and weapons to fight against the bug aliens and I liked how tough Anna was.

While I liked each of these MCs I felt like their reason for not starting a relationship was flimsy or maybe just underdeveloped so it didn't feel believable. Another thing that affected my enjoyment of the book was the writing and word choices. Some of it was probably because this was set in England but there was something about the writing that didn't flow well and I often had to re-read sentences to make sure I understood what was happening. The action, adventure, and badass characters helped me keep going but I don't plan to read more in the series.

This is a pretty good mid-apocalyptic story, with good world building, and a solid end-of-the-world romance. The bugs were pretty mindless, so there was no "Why can't we get along" silliness, and there was not much angst either. Some of the locations will be better appreciated to those who know London better.

Secondary characters are arranged for future stories, but it was smoothly done. I'll read the next one.

London is burning, or has been crushed to be more precise, as an alien invasion of insectoids overruns the Earth. In the rubble beneath the teeming skies, the brilliant (and very sexy!) Dr Anna Ward is working on a device that may just turn the tide as her depleted team is attacked. Forced to flee, she is (at times literally) thrust into the company of tough commando, Garrick, whose gruff exterior masks a tender heart and complex past. Meeting Anna gives him reason to more than simply survive...
Not my usual reading fare but I really enjoyed Garrick and have to say that I was quite (pleasantly) shocked at times by how raunchy it was, though there's enough battles and destruction to keep fans of saucy science-fiction and actions fans happy! A really enjoyable debut from Theresa Beachman that stands out above some of the more soppy stuff in the shirtless bloke genre.

Couldn't stand the heroine.

I started to read this because I was told it was like Anna Hackett's Hell Squad series, but soon realised that I like that series because I like Hackett's writing and her characters, not because I like alien invasion stories with sex. Too similar in some ways, completely not similar in the ways that matter most to me.

When I realised I was skimming more than reading, and only a couple of chapters in, I knew I was done. Guess this one wasn't for me.

Nice book!! Really liked the characters, the setting and the hot steamy relationship between the two main heroes.

The description of the aliens was a bit confusing but all the action scenes were fun and exciting.

Can't wait to read the next one, based on Sawyer; he didn't have a lot of "screen time" on this book but it definitely looks like a really interesting character, and super hot too!

Good sci fi romance

I liked how both heroes fought their way through killer insect aliens. They had a better chance because they both gave as much as they got. Nice slow burn romance with enough sexual tension to keep me flipping pages. Well written.

Beachman brings us a fast paced post-apocalyptic hot romance the first instalment in their Earth Resistance series.

The soldier Garrick rescues Anna, a doctor who may hold part of the key to defeating earth's insectoid invaders and they cross ruined London in a survival marathon to safety with action hotting up both on the field and between the two unlikely protagonists, so wrong, yet so right.

Not quite classic romance, not action novel and not really erotica, it's a blend of all three with each part done well, but with more, reminiscent of Anna Hackett's work.

I enjoyed this although kind of felt the action was overdone compared to the romance, but then hey if you like action, there's plenty of hair-raising hijinks, escapes, chase scenes, bug smashing and magazine-emptying/Baysplosion Hollywood-style scenes to go around, and the _other action_ is quite hot too.

I liked Anna, her toughness and bravery, considering she's a lab doctor with no combat skills and Garrick was portrayed well if a touch overdone on his tender side. A fine warrior, he's almost unstoppable when he has something worth fighting for, and may just find it.

Only quibble is constant referral to 'his MP5' yes we get it, he has a H&K SMG and he uses it a lot, no need to keep telling us. Would have liked some more variation in description. Also, why use just an SMG against armoured enemies that ignore small caliber rounds? Where is all this ammo coming from? Sssh... in true Hollywood style just enjoy and pass the popcorn.

You want action? I give you the adrenaline and ichor-soaked Earth Resistance.
(This book is a complete story and can be read standalone, yes rest assured that the other companions get their own stories, action and romance in the war for humanity's survival.)

Brilliantly constructed characters and world

I really enjoyed this book. The author focused on giving the readers detail and visuals to help us gain a clear representation of the aliens in our mind.

"I thought of you when I read this quote from "Garrick (Earth Resistance Book 1)" by Theresa Beachman -

"It had landed on its side in a wet, viscous pool. Its lower abdomen was a sticky mess of shattered chitin and fused, melted flesh where she had unloaded the SIG. The stench of charred meat made her gag. She pulled a white surgical mask from the supply cabinet and tied it at the back of her head. The odor of death still penetrated the fabric, but it was better than nothing."
The relationship between Garrick and Anna wasn't rushed, they fought their attraction both battling their own insecurities.

The author did an impressive job creating this world and I look forward to exploring it some more.

Read this book to experience the devastating struggle of a few brave survivors that attempt to destroy the ever=increasing horde of alien insectoids, Chittrix, attempting to establish their new colony on our home planet. Battle hardened SAS officer, Garrick, and Entomologist and bio-weapons engineer, Dr. Anna Ward, stumble upon each other in the melee that is now their new normal. You become one of the remaining survivors desperately searching for a plan to end these monsters and save the world. The constant conflict and high energy of these few brave people will hold your interest until the final page. This was an outrageously realistic view of a very hostile existence with danger and your worst nightmare around every corner and time running out for every human left on Earth. Very Creative Idea and Very Good Read!!!!

Garrick, Anna and the Invasion

This is a story of what happens when earth is invaded and how the people survive. Anna ,Julia and Blake live in an old ministry of defence building. Until one day when they are breached by Garrick and his men who were out scavenging for supplies. They find the armour that Anna made and are going to take it when Anna stops then. Then they all end up fighting together against the invaders. They split up to make it back to there government instillation outside of London. Garrick and Anna end up going off together. I’m not going to spoil the rest but if you love romance and invasion stories you will enjoy this book

First the good: I read the entire book.

Now the bad: The novel is full of typos, and the plot isn’t original. The constant internal dialogue aggravated me worse than a nagging headache. The romance is ultra-predictable, and the gratuitous sex didn’t hold my interest. In fact, one sex scene went on … and on … and on … for pages … until I found myself skimming ahead to get back into the main storyline.

I won’t be buying any more books in this series.

Awesome!

This is a new author for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Insects that invade by meteor. HUGE insects. Like that isn't creepy enough! Anna is a super cool scientist and Garrick is an SAS soldier who rescues her. The book isn't only about romance, but a lot of survival issues - and alien fighting! Only I really wouldn't want to fight these aliens... Now I have to read more of the series. LOL

Reads like a monster movie.

This book is just like any great creature feature…Aliens attack earth, boy fights aliens, girl fights aliens, boy and girl fall in love... and blow aliens up.

Wonderful care was given to describing the aliens and the action associated with them.

However, I would have liked this book a lot more as a sci-fi thriller without the romance, which was the least well written part, and superfluous to the plot.

Captivating! 😲😬

From the beginning until the end, this was a story that made me not want to stop reading it. Fighting the alien insects who were determined to destroy the human race, the main characters showed true grit to prevent that from happening. It even as some romance added. If you like alien invasion stories, this is an exciting read that will keep you poised at the edge of your seat.

Good premise, execution a little unpolished. For example: Supposedly smart fmc does stupid things like stepping outside the secure bunker they spend most of the book trying to get to... for some fresh air ?? Immediately gets kidnapped by the evil alien bugs they had been running from. Very duh moment.
The author's note says this was her first novel, so her writing will likely have improved. The world building is interesting, I'm intrigued to read more.

Slow Start, But Great Dash For Three Finish Line

This book begins rather slow and was a bit confusing, however, once you get pass the first few chapters the story flies smoothly. The characters are great and will defined, the plot of this story is exceptional and once you get into the story, there is no stopping. Couldn't help but give it five stars. Thank you Theresa Beachman😉

This was free and I needed something to read while waiting for my nephew's band concert to start, so in that regard it was worth the money. Otherwise, it's fine, but nothing new or really interesting. None of the other characters stood out enough to make me want to read further, but the others are listed in KU right now, so I won't rule them out.

Love and adventure

This action packed science fiction is a romance with a difference. Yes there is some swearing but it does not overshadow the tone of the book. This is so well written that I started anticipating sequels as I met the characters They are so engaging. Garrick is recommended for every scifi lover who wants their hero to win true love while saving the world.

Science fiction romance

This is a decent story. The problem, for me, was that it was very similar to a series that I've read, by a favorite author. I'm not sure that I will continue this series. If you like post apocalyptic, science fiction romance with intelligent women and alpha males and huge creepy insects, you should read this.

I absolutely loved this book! The story picks up in the middle of an alien invasion, but it all makes sense. You're not left wondering what lead to where they are, all the answers are there. The action sequences are intense, the description of the dystopian city is so clear you can really see it. The romance building between the lead characters is hot, but fits the story well. Highly recommend.

Reading this story has been like watching a movie. I could see every setting, every interaction every single detail as I would watching a film in the cinema. It's the first time I have felt like this and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I can't wait to immerse myself in this post-apocaliptic world again.

Never a dull moment

Exciting mind stimulating alien stuff that keeps me eagerly turning each page to find out what is next. The main male
and female characters are fantastic and the supporting characters also brings great balance to the story. There is plenty of action and intrigue throughout the book.

Love amongst the survivors

Exciting and unpredictable, lots of action that has you glued to each chapter and invested in every character. These characters definitely do not believe resistance is futile as they struggle to take back their planet.

I loved the chemistry between Anna and Garrick. I loved that Anna was so kick-ass. Garrick was there for her and went after her.

DNF'd around the 33% mark. For being a smart person, the heroine made some pretty stupid choices.

If you didn't like this either, but want something similar then try out Anna Hackett's Hell Squad series. She takes the same theme and does it much better.
