I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Nadine thought that she had found the one, it was the morning of her wedding when she discovered him in bed with another woman at the hotel they were meant to be getting married at, the man that she had saved herself for. Not only that but she discovers her friends were all aware that he was and had been cheating on her. Two weeks after her failed wedding she was sitting I a bar getting steadily more drunk when her brothers best friend Noah joins her and they end up in bed together, he was the last person that she ever expected to give her virginity too and is left feeling worthless after she reads a text on his phone when checking the time and he is expecting another woman and he tosses her out. She is ready to start her life somewhere else and leaves for New York. It’s been five years that she has avoided going home for bit when her mother lets her know that she is getting married to none other than Noah’s dad she knows the time has come to face the things she has been running from for so long. Seeing Noah again for the first time in five years she realises that there was more between them than she recognised and her feelings for him run a lot deeper. Can she move on from the past and build something real with Noah or will the secret she is carrying be too much for him to deal with?
Noah knew Nadine when they were children and has spent many times teasing her but when her wedding is cancelled and he spots her in the bar across from his apartment he checks on her as they end up in bed together only for her to ghost him for the next five years. It’s been a night that he has bnver been able to forget so when she is back in town for his father and her mother’s wedding he sees it as a chance to finally find out what happened that night. Noah has deeper feeling for Nadine than he thought and when they end up living together thing get steamy quickly, could they have a chance at their own HEA or will their pasts drive them apart for good this time?
I have to say this book was a little irritating and that is especially aimed at Nadine, she has the poorest communication skills I have ever read about but I also saw why after the betrayal she went through after her wedding and then thinking that Noah had already lined up his next conquest her ability to trust must have been at an all-time low. Although this wasn’t an omg I cannot out this book down I still enjoyed the story and their journey to one another. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series. 3.8* Read
I was very disappointed in this book after reading all the positive reviews. I left it at 60 something percent before in DNF it. It was just too fake and unrealistic for me. I'm suppose to believe that this virgin girl after being deflowered by this guy she has known since childhood... gets mad and leaves him for 5 years refusing to answer any of his calls or texts after their one night... because he had plans to hook up with another girl and kinda brushed her off to head to work the next day. So ok maybe it was an extreme becuz she just found out her fiance cheated on her... so fine I'll forgive it. But then! She goes to New York and "tries all types of different things in bed with a bunch of one night stands becuz she cant trust men anymore" BUT!!! She is "so shy she cant take it if some random nice dude wants to ask her out"!?!? And she is such a good girl and still shy af when it comes to H....?? Then the constant issues she is having with him thru the next few parts of the book and just squabbling with him over and over again and still wont forgive him really but she has sex with him again!?!? Girl.... I'm so sick of you I cant even finish the book. Move on dude. She is a nutcase. Sorry. I dont like her.
I wanted to love this book but there was just so much frustration with Nadine she catches her fiance with another women the day of her wedding so she sleeps with her brothers best friend Noah then ghosts him granted he deserved it. So she goes to New York and has sexual liberating moment or two but there all just hook-up's and none of them measure up to Noah the tool. And then when a decent guy asks her out she can't be bothered because she's basically working for a crazy lady in a job that she will never pursue and waist 5 years at. But after 5 years she still hates Noah cant trust anyone let's people use her and then theres the whole drama with her mom marring Noah's dad suprise of course thats not her only suprise by the end of the book theres another one. Also why bring up the cheating ex fiancee's women but never have him appear again if the town is small enough to know everyone's business then why dose she never find out what happened to his cheating hide. Nadine needed some backbone and therapy.
Noah basic guy has crush on girl tortures her ignores her then gets her in bed and makes date with another girl for the next day eek. Noah he works with the fire department and owns half of a gym and hes still chasing one night stands after 5 years but can't figure out why Nadine hates him hmm. But beside all this he dose redeem himself by the end. My only other gripe why all the detail about clothes it was just weird and there were alot of places were the plot laged. This book was a 3.4 for me but I rated it a 4 since Amazon doesn't allow for this rating.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
Nadine is a lady with trust issues, and rightfully so. After finding her fiancé is cheating on her with another woman right before their wedding, she gets drunk and connects with her brother’s best friend, Noah, to make sure she loses her v-card. Then she dashes off to New York, leaving Noah wondering why she ghosted him, and gets a job she doesn’t really like.
When Nadine comes home for her mother’s wedding to Noah’s father, she will be seeing Noah! Perhaps Nadine and Noah can talk about what went wrong between them since no one seems really sure. In the meantime, firefighter Noah is investigating a string of arson fires which keeps him occupied. Will Nadine and Noah find time for a second chance at happiness? Will Noah find out who the arsonist is before someone gets seriously hurt?
This was a very busy book filled with misunderstandings and surprises. Communication is one of my soapbox topics, but if our characters talked things out, the story would end on page 1, so I’ll refrain. Grab your copy and enjoy Nadine and Noah’s story of who did what to whom and see if they can find a HEA waiting for them when the dust settles.
This is a frenemies, brothers friend, stepbrother, surprise baby & a slightly suspenseful angsty read. So there's quite a bit going on in this tale. Marine escapes to New York after losing her virginity & is left feeling worthless. Years later she returns for her mothers surprise wedding festivities. She encounters Noah, the one who she fled from & he can't understand her animosity. When all is revealed they realise they should've been more communicative about their encounter. However having been scared by it & a previous relationship with another, she is very wary of any commitment & has trust issues galore. There is some suspense with Noah's job & it is touched on regularly however I felt it's conclusion was a bit rushed at the end, just to tidy it up so as to not leave any loose ends. The person responsible should've been dealt with in a more harsher manner as it was very irresponsible & could've proved fatal. Overall with all this activity it will keep you on your toes.

Well written storyline. While this is a brothers best friend story it is more. There are many layer of emotions in this story that make it a seriously great story. I love Nadine she is such a condridiction, she isolates herself, she is grateful at a job she hates, she loves her family but never goes home, been saying for 5 years just til I go to law school but does nothing to make it happen. Noah as known her his whole life, teased her when they eternal kids, ignored her in high school, took her virginity one drunken night and hasn't spoke to her in 5 years. They reconnect because his dad is marrying her mom. This is the funny, mixed up, sweet confusing story of their getting to know each other. Grab the tissues because you will laugh and cry with the messiness of relationships with this one, and you will love it.

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
This is my first book by Beverly Evans, but it definitely won't be my last! I really enjoyed these characters and the storyline.
I loved seeing Noah at work and figuring out his cases. I figured out who was the culprit early on, but that's alright.
Nadine loves to cook and sing her be back at her mom's baking store was great. Her other job was really crappy.
The only thing I wished was different was Nadine not talking to Noah. A lot of their issues would have never happened if she had just talked to him. Usually it's the guy who won't talk about his thoughts and feelings, so it was a bit of a surprise when Nadine was the one running.
I'm glad I got a chance to read this novel and I'm looking forward to more by this author!
Wonderful romance with Nadine and Noah. She finds her fiancee in bed with another woman and gets drunk with her older brothers best friend Noah which leads to her giving him her v-card only for him to toss her out the next morning soon after she finds he has set up another date for the night. Hurt and ashamed she leaves for New York City where she works for a tyrant. When she goes home for a family event she runs into Noah again and he never understood why she left town and never answered any of his text so she tells him and he can not believe he was such a jerk. When she moves in with him for a short while they get really close and she ends up pregnant so she moves out knowing he never wants to marry much less have a child. Maybe she does not know it that well after all when he comes looking for her?
This was my first read from this author and I honestly do not know how to feel about it. "Oh, that’s what his penis looks like? I’m not sure whether to be disappointed or just angry that the first time I’m seeing it isn’t on our wedding night." aka the first time she saw it was when she caught him cheating on her. I have nothing against traditions but I think it's a little odd to start the story like this. I mean after all it is 21st century. I get that the people are religious and all but giving how we see that the guy was cheating on the girl aka other women saw him naked except for her, that is a little odd. Not to mention that even her friends knew. Just NO. I mean she is either the most clueless person in the world or she just doesn't care or didn't care. And if so, why does she care now? After finding her fiance in bed with someone else a day before the wedding, Nadine hooks up with Noah, her brother's best friend to get rid of her virginity. He appears to let her down too, so she moves to the city and gets a job as a paralegal. When her mother gets engaged, she agrees to come home to help with the wedding - only to find that her mother is marrying Noah's father. Noah has never been able to forget his night with Nadine, and doesnt understand why she has ghosted him. Will these two be able to get their romance together - before the serial arsonist burns both of them? Loved the twists, and the beautiful HEA

I absolutely loved this sweet yet sometimes sad and suspenseful story. Noah and Nadine are very relatable characters and you can feel their pain and happiness. Trust is a big issue and once it’s been broken it’s hard to get back if at all. Their lives have some very painful, hurtful and distrustful moments that you just want to wrap them in a huge hug to help them through it. When fires are set throughout the town Noah takes it upon himself to investigate more closely but that only brings the heat to him. Will he find out what’s happening and who’s setting them? I can’t wait for more!
I received this as an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
omg this is the first book I have read from this author and guess what? I am absolutely hooked and going to be reading more of her books. What would you do if you caught your fiance cheating on you right before your wedding? Nadine decided to get drunk and lost her vCard with her brothers best friend and then ended up getting hurt.now back in town she finds out her mother is getting married to Noah's dad .can they stop fighting and put the past behind them or will this hot firefighter get what he wants without getting burned? I even reread this arc lol absolutely loved it.

What a roller coaster of a storyline, with so many ups and downs and throw in a couple of twisty turns. Fun characters with all the emotions from frenemies to lovers back to sitting in limbo. I loved the connection between Noah and Nadine, though I did think her always running away rather than talking was immature. So glad for Noah realize his mistakes and own up to them and trying to make himself better while trying to be with Nadine. Enjoyed the suspense aspect, but it was a little predictable on my end. Fantastic ending for this couple who had to work for their HEA.

Coming home will rekindle the flames that can either ignite their chemistry or burn them both
One Night Flame is the first book in A Briggs Town series by Beverly Evans. This is the first book I have read by this author and I thought it was a charming and engaging story. I thought that the book was well written with a solid story-line and great characters that were multi-dimensional and interesting. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
What happens when you catch your fiance cheating on you when your wedding is happening soon? A great story, that's what!
Nadine caught her jerk fiance cheating on her. So, as any woman would do she goes and gets drunk and sleeps with her brother's best friend! No big deal, right? Except she was a virgin....oops.
Oh, karma how evil you are! Nadine's mother is getting married to none other than Noah's dad! Yep, you guessed it, the guy she gave up the v-card to!
Loved this story! Loved the story line and the characters!!
Genre: best friends little sister/ second chance/ enemies to lovers and a little bit of step brother/sister.
I liked the characters in this book, both the female and the male lead were very different but they came together beautifully. Nadine was a sweet, naive women that chose the wrong man, and had pretty bad trust issues. Good thing Noah could forgive and forget so that they could rebuild. Their story isn’t the easiest but I did enjoy all of the aspects of it. And I loved their happy ending!

I liked it, I wish I had known what became of the ex, as she mentioned the lady he cheated on her with later in the book but not Grant.... The story seemed to Drag a bit around the same thing, over and over, it wasn't a bad bad book and it got better and the story picked up, and ended Amazingly!!! It just seemed to drag a bit with the same items circling over and over. This was my first read of Beverly's and I want to read more of the Briggs town Series. All in all it was a good story with a good HEA!
The author has pulled us into the lives of the characters and does not let go. Nadine returns to her small hometown and is bombarded with memories from her past, including her one night fling with Noah, who is about to become her stepbrother. Emotions run high and we have suspense with twists and turns that keep you turning the pages.

This story is one worthy of reading it!!! It is just really good. It has a good storyline and really fabulous characters. It was also fun to read and has enough of intricately woven scenes to make it even better. Overall a fantastic story so five stars is the minimum here but they are all I have to give out.

An engaging and well written second chance romance! The storyline is well-developed, emotionally deep, funny, witty, and relatable. The ups and downs, lack of communication, and misunderstandings will keep you on the edge of your seat in excitement and frustration. The characters are likeable; their chemistry is off the charts! Definitely recommended.

I wonder who the other arsonist was that was working with Henry to burn people's houses down. Noah was right to be suspicious of him, but he should have gone to his fire chief with some evidence a bit sooner. I knew it was Henry involved as soon as Nadine's house caught fire. Henry was always first on scene coincidentally and always the one to run in. Took Nadine and Noah long enough to figure their relationship out.
I LOVED this book! The couple had friends and lives OUTSIDE of the couple itself (I know this is a romance, but it really bothers me when the couple ONLY exists for each other). I only wish the author introduced thre pregnancy plot earlier in the book and took her time with that (Noah didn't think he'd ever get married or have kids. Let's explore him finding out and coming to the realization that depending on the right person, he's a family man in detail).
five years ago nadine caught her fiancée with another woman right before their wedding. so what did she do she slept with her bestfriend brother and then left for five years, she is now back and Noah's father is now engaged to Nadine's mother let the fireworks begin

This mixes up quite some tropes, brothers' best friend, stepbrother, unexpected pregnancy, and second chance romance. Noah and Nadine's is a roller coaster ride with angst, suspense, learning who the other is five years later, and more.

I absolutely loved this story. The storyline was so interesting that it completely captivated me and was so intriguing that I couldn’t stop reading it until I finished with the very last word. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing book. Enjoy happy reading "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
Such a great book. Great storyline and plot, the characters were fantastic. Defiantly a book that will keep your attention until the very end. There were things that Nadine and Noah had to talk about and work out but they fixed the misunderstanding and the surprise Nadine had for Noah. Highly recommend this story. Loved this book! I loved how well Nadine and Noah’s characters have such instant chemistry wether they like it or not. The storyline defiantly kept me engaged. The drama and twists kept me up late reading to the end in one sitting. Looking for the next book in the series.
