This is actually quite a good book that walks the user from the objectives of a business to implementing a good working analytics system that can ultimately answer business questions in terms of what happened (descriptive), what may happen (predictive) and what should we do based on x, y, z (prescriptive). That is it in a nutshell.

Amongst this are other things to consider such as data quality, data governance and change management.

One of the main emphasis is to avoid getting side-tracked and thus making sure the analytics solution is able to answer key business questions and help an organisation to achieve its objectives and goals.

There's a case study at the end that walks you through the implementation of an analytics project using the 10 best practices
