Proxima-Logbücher #2

In die Dunkelheit

Rate this book

On the dark side of a planet...

Marchenko picks up another signal that may originate from another earth launch on a planet, closely orbiting a brown dwarf. After closer examination, they see an artificial structure on the dark side of the planet which is covered in ice and only around 225 kelvin. Adam is therefore glad of his spacesuit as they explore and try and find out what happened to another Marchenko and Adam and Eve. However dangers looms...
While interesting, this novel is not as gripping or suspenseful as the previous. It is worth reading if you're interested in the whole saga of the different Marchenkos and his children...

Not as good as the first one, but still good.

The planet itself being explored is more interesting than the planet in the last book, but the exploration itself is fairly dry, lacking in drama and adventure.

The ending is kinda disappointing, since it could've introduced one or two new interesting characters but didn't.

I also noticed that this series seems to have retconned Adam and Eve's biology from the previous series. Originally they were genetically engineered beings made from the genes of several different people and with super-human enhancements. In this series they appear to be normal humans with a single father and single mother (genetically).

Still recommended.

nicely done

Brandon Morris has a skill at story telling that encapsulates astronomy science into stories that are a pleasure to explore while you learn about the vast realm illuminated by astronomy scientific advances. I could not recommend him more highly to anyone with an interest in the possibilities of universe.

Don’t waste your time

No character development and non-existent plot. Did I mention boring? I’ve read lots of hard sci-fi that manages to be engaging and scientifically plausible. This isn’t one of them.
