Guardian Dragons #2

A Broken Dragon

Rate this book
Ever since we found the first sacred omega to be born in centuries, I've had my network across the country on the lookout for others - men who hold the key to saving the dragon race.

And they've delivered.

There's just one problem: the omega, Lucas, is not only located in the territory held by the dangerous dragon known as Calavastrix the Storm, he works for him, too. Taking Lucas out from underneath Calavastrix's nose is a recipe for disaster - but it just might save Lucas from a fate worse than death.

There's no time to explain. I'll have to spirit him away. But with dragon hunters hot on our heels and Calavastrix certain to follow closely behind us, can I coax Lucas into trusting me long enough to save his life?

Omega’s Trust is the second book in the epic Guardian Dragons series. With rich worldbuilding and a scorching love mpreg story, this novel has a satisfying happily ever after. While Omega’s Trust can be read as a standalone story, it is best read as second in it’s series.

3.5 stars. The beginning was slow but I loved the danger and romance Lucas and Tarin go through. I also really like the new mythology details AB and JH are hinting at for the next book.

3/5. Highlights may contain spoilers, read at your own risk.

Content Warnings for book: Kidnapping, violence, death, fire, pregnancy, gun violence, stalking

Kinks: Light sadomasochism, outdoor sex

A Broken Dragon is the second book with Tarin, a character we met in the first book, and Lucas, a lawyer who works at a firm ran by Caleb Drake, also known as Calavastrix the Storm.

We get a continuation of the plot from before, finding out where Reece and Matthew have settled with their friends Yuri, Sasha, and Mercy. It was really fun to see everyone and I was engaged into the urban fantasy part of this plot, with the wolven, Templars, and other dragons who are all mixed into this issue. The book has the same dry and sarcastic humor I enjoyed from the first one, and more too-real gripes about student debt.

As it comes to Tarin and Lucas -- meh. I did not feel a connection between them that much, and Lucas and need for trust after what Tarin does, I don't even really understand. Like no, what Tarin did wasn't okay, but the very real alternatives that Lucas realized were a true danger to him, why did he continue to hold it against him? It's not like that he would've believe Tarin in the first place. There was another accidental pregnancy, but this time at least Lucas knew it was technically possible. I do think that this couple had potential to be a nice and swoonier relationship, but there was more just time skipping to the "I love yous". The sex was hot and had a sadomasochism kink edge, but I do wish it pushed more into that? Something more discussed or defined. I did end up skimming a few because I just wasn't hat invested into them.

Plot wise, the ways Lucas could help out and build out the ranch was great, and I loved that idea behind it. The issues with the wolven, Templars, and Caleb did all come to a very interesting head and it was pretty brilliant to see in action. There is a solution to a conflict that engages a bit with us learning more dragon lore around mating, and I am curious to see if that gets explored more. Overall, they get their HEA and a baby. Even if that baby has a name I do not like at all.

Omega’s Trust by author Aiden Bates and Jill Haven is the second book in the Guardian Dragon books. These books should be read in order, the politics and characters do carry over from book to book. Also, each book sets up the next book at the end. This story is told in dual POV. One of my favorite POVs cause I love getting into both character's deepest thoughts.
Lucas works for Camelot Legal. He is honored to have been chosen at the top law firm fresh out of law school. He has been taking a lot of crap from his boss, who seems oddly jealous of him. Lucas is kind, caring, and a hard worker. When Templar Industries a top client demands that Lucas represent them in court over the top lawyer at the firm Lucas’ life changes forever.
Tarin is a man on a mission. He has to get the newest Omega to the farm before the dragon that rules the territory the Omega is in finds out. So, he tricks Lucas into thinking he works for his boss. But soon finds out that Lucas is more than meets the eye. He is not just any Omega he is his Omega.
I loved this story. Each one builds on the previous tale and brings one more layer to the Omega’s stories. There is a ton going on. Action, adventure, love, and lots of angst. I loved this addition to the series and cannot wait for more in the future.

Great story!

This is a second book in Guardian Dragons series. It can be read as a standalone, but it is more enjoyable and easier to understand to read after Sacred Omega.

It is a fast, enjoyable read with likable characters. It is a little bit unbelievable - the love part comes quite fast, Lucas' trust into "i can't get You pregnant or sick" while he still doesn't believe in dragons is totally out of place. In the same time, I really liked the story, the fight with Calavastrix, Templars and the problem with Volven. It is pretty good story with lots of plot twist that make it even more interesting.

I got sucked into the story right from the start, I kept my fingers crossed for Tarin and his devotion to save Lucas. The way he was ready to do anything just to make him safe and happy was heartbreaking tbh. The story is funny, sexy and a real page turner.

I can't wait for Sasha to find his mate :)

Tarin is a dragon that has been bound into his human form for a very very long time, with no hope to see his scales any time soon. Tarin's network of people has found another sacred omega. When his instincts tell him that the new omega is in danger he goes to finds and rescue him.

Lucas is a small time lawyer in a new company. When his boss Caleb takes an interest in him, Lucas is unsure why. When Tarin approaches Lucas and tells him he is Caleb's driver and was sent for him Lucas goes with him. Tarin convinces Lucas not to meet Caleb and he ends up drugging Lucas to take him back to the ranch where Reece and the others are hiding.

The characters in this story are fully developed and their relationship works well with the storyline. The action is fast furthering the plot. The meshing of the characters from the first book integrates well with these new ones.

Another good addition to this series.

A kidnapping, a compound that isn't a cult, a whole lot of dragon fighting, and a heavy hand with the angst. Lucas and Tarin have a rough go because of impulsiveness, wariness, and more than a little self-pity. The relationship build in this story was better than in the first, though there could have been a much better way to balance both personalities. Tarin is a bit short-sighted when it comes to most things and Reece reacted far more harshly than I expected. The intractability was a surprise, though not unwarranted with what Tarin does. Lucas' character is far more believable because Stockholm Syndrome totally wasn't a thing here, which I very much appreciated. The imagery for the big confrontation and fight scene was pretty awesome as well as the set-up for building the ranch and its purpose. If the series continues to improve, I'll be a happy reader.

Definitely better than the first in the series. This is Tarin and Lucas' story. Tarin finds out there is another omega and travels to him under the guise of warning him about the Templar's and letting him know about his true nature. He has hopes of bringing Lucas back the the compound. Lucas, an u and coming lawyer in a prestigious law firm, has other ideas. There's LOTs of action in this one. And even an evil dragon. I did have a few issues with the plot. Apparently dragons can "thrall" an omega and make them essentially a slave. So if the evil dragon is so evil, why didn't he do this right away? Even when he has the chance, he doesn't do it. Maybe not so evil after all? Anywho. Looking forward to more. This is an audiobook series I'm listening to.

Sequel to A Dragon’s Sacred Mate. Recommend reading in order. The story continues with Lucas, unbeknownst to him, is a sacred omega. A boss who’s trying to seduce him, a stranger who drugged and kidnapped him, then falls into the hands of an assassin. No wonder Lucas has trust issues. A roller coaster adventure and a continuation of the saga from the first book with Reece and Mathew. Lucas becomes a new addition to their colony. While we do see Mercy and Yuri again, I would have loved more interaction with Yuri. He was too nondescript in this story, yet a very vivid personality in the first book. Overall a good read.

Despite their disastrous start, Tarin and Lucas felt like a much more balanced couple than Matthew and Reece. Unlike in the first book, I felt like Lucas and Tarin were on equal footing throughout their entire relationship, and that made me connect with their love story much better. The action/adventure scenes in this story were much more heart-pounding, and the stakes felt much higher with an entire ranch community on the line. The only thing that was missing for me was some closure about Lucas's old life.

**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this series. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Battle and kidnapping!

Tarin gets his mate, now will be be able too complete that bond? Lucas thinks he is human, Tarin knows differently.

This is book two in the series, I would suggest reading them in order to get the most from this series. With kidnapping and battles from two fronts the characters must adapt quickly and firmly. There is an overwhelming desire to have the good guys win. Mates and kids, evil dragons, wolves, bear shifters and the evil Templar all at cross purposes. Must read series

As the second book in this series, this book showed us how complex is the world the authors are creating for us. Now, the story of Tarin and Lucas is difficult to read, full of miscommunications, flagrant control issues and overprotection, their relationship arose in the middle of intense and dangerous situations, showing us how “trust” needed to be there before love. Interesting reading!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Great add to the series. Lucas and Tarin are up next; I loved getting to know more about Tarin. Lucas is the perfect match for this Dragon. More drama and action in this Unique universe, emotions all around when you have humans and dragons dealing with insecurities and priorities. Lucas was amazing and my new favorite. Can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.

Sassy, sacred omega

Second book in the series and just as good as the series starter.
Tarin (dragon) has met his match in Lucas (sacred omega). I enjoyed the story line a lot, especially as it provides more info about past dragons, pacts,/alliances between dragons and the wolves.
Definitely lookning forward to seeing the family of dragons grow and see how the issue with the Templars will end.

Amazing second book

This was a great follow up to the first book.

The big keeps going and the plot went deeper into things and created new threads for the overall story arc.

The story of Tarin and Lucas was very interesting as well and brought new foes into the story. The whole book was paced and kept me on the edge of my seat at times. The relationship developing between was sweet, hot and heartbreaking, and so amazing.

Really enjoyed it and I can't wait to see what's next

This is the second book in The Guardian Dragons Series. A charming book with good writing. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters great. The characters were developed and thought out. Lucas and Tarin are the MC’s of this book. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Tarim and Lucas

Another great story in the Guardian dragons series. Good MC’s and some more added to the world building.
The plot was a little weak. It was OK.
I like to see more of Reese and Matthew, I still love Reese the most .
He is so darn funny without meaning to be .
One thing I didn’t care for, sorry to say it, but Hero is a stupid name for a baby.
But I will be reading book 3.

Dragons, magic, and wolves oh my

I was glad to see more of the characters I'd come to like in the first book. The books are not super long so you do not get sick of the main characters but the overall story arc carries over into this book in a way that flows pretty well with a bit of a small gap in between. I liked that things did not go completely smoothly and they had to work a bit to make their relationship work. Onward to the next installment!

A great addition to the continuing storyline
How do you convince your mate of something so fantastic when you don't have proof to back up your incredulous story?
Which in turn leaves you feeling like a shell, as though you lack something fundamental
Luckily for you, your mate is just exactly what you need to see your true worth.

I'm in love with dragon shifters! This book did not let me down on the dragon front. I really like seeing the relationship between Lucas and Tarin develop. I'm anxious to see where the story goes from here. This book is part of a series and is probably best enjoyed when read in series order. This series looks like it will be one to read from start to finish.

Another Great One

Tarin and Lucas are the characters in this story. Aiden Bates and Jill Haven wrote another great book. Book 2 of the Guardian Dragons Series is full of adventure. From one adventurous drama to another, lol. Poor Lucas, he was having a time, but Tarin didn’t leave his side for too long. I give it 5 stars ⭐️. So worth the read 💜

A wish your heart makes

What is a bound dragon to do when an omega is in trouble? Kidnap them and hope for the best! This was a good continuation of the dragons, a bit heavier then the first. Enjoyable. Now on to the next.
