Silas
When I look into my future it’s like looking down the barrel of a gun.
Trying to pay back a debt that was never yours, a hopelessly fractured family, and betrayal by those you trusted the most will do that to a man.
Most days I just survive. Alone.
The guys at TripleX, the club that hosts the biggest illegal fight league in England, where I fight and bounce, all know that I keep myself to myself.
I don’t do hanging around after lock up to pick up drunk girls from the bar upstairs.
I don’t do staff drinks.
I don’t do socials.
I don’t do going to the gym together.
I don’t do friendship.
I work, I get paid.
I fight, I get paid.
End of involvement.
The irony is, there is nothing in Brighton, the seaside city that I call my home, or in my life, actually worth fighting for.
Until Mum brings home a stray American.
A soft, curvy woman with bottle-red hair and green eyes and a mouth made for sucking.
And no matter how hard I try to ignore her, she’s there.
In my bed.

Grace
I’m here on a memorial tour for my mum - never mom, she was born British, and no matter how long she lived in Washington DC, she refused to be called mom.
I lost her a year ago, and it still hurts like crazy.
I saved up every penny I made since her funeral for this trip. Being here, in England, in Brighton, was supposed to help me keep her memory alive, to remember her and the stories she used to tell me.
But in true Grace style, I fall at the first hurdle.
The company I booked the hotel through has gone bust, the hotel never got my reservation and there isn’t a room to be had elsewhere in a ten-mile radius because of a small thing called the Brighton Festival.
I’m ready to sleep in the lobby when the head of housekeeping offers me a room in her house, at a rate I cannot refuse.
A room, it turns out, that smells of man in the best possible way.
And with the scent comes a fighter, brooding and beautiful, and about as lost as I am.
I want him.
Badly.
I just need to convince him that he’s worth the fight, and that maybe together we can find our way out of the woods.

Tilly Delane

Tilly Delane is the pen name for the grown up version of, well, me - an already established author of clean(ish), wholesome(ish) YA literature, who fancied a stint away from the straight and narrow.
It started with Silas and then I became addicted and carried on working, until I had a whole trilogy of awesome, rock hard but human heroes, each of whom has his own freaking brilliant leading lady who takes no shit from anyone.
I love Silas, Rowan and Diego and their kickass women as much as I loved all my previous creations and I wish I could tell you who I really am, but there are innocents to protect here, so for now I am Tilly and proud.
Tilly, incidentally, was the name of a character in a romance short that I published under yet another pen name some years ago.
You can get that one free for your kindle, or as a pdf, if you email me at tillydelaneauthor@gmail.com
Tilly and I (schizophrenia here I come) live in the real Brighton, UK, with two young daughters and a stupidly large collection of big and small animals. They all need feeding (me not so much, I could do with losing a few pounds), so please buy my books, rate, review, recommend them.
Oh, and if by complete chance you've read any of my other books (stranger things have happened) and you think you've figured it out, please just smile knowingly - and don't let the cat out of the bag.
Much obliged.

Silas is a gem in the generally same-same world of bad boy romance, mainly for the reason that Tilly Delane is a very good writer. It's got it all: dark setting, gritty plot, moody characters and hot sex. Finally, bad boy romance has an author who isn't afraid to write a book with literary grade prose. Easy five stars from me. Can't wait to read the rest.

Outstanding Brit Bad Boy romance

If you like your characters genuine, rough-edged and coarse-tongued, tough but vulnerable; if you like a really gripping story with high-tension suspense with your lovers; if you like your literary sex on the rough side of tender - get this book, and this series. Tilly Delane can write.
This trans-Atlantic romance leans on the bounds of probability, but not too far. There is insta-chemistry, rather than insta-love. The setting and the characters seem to be more real than should be allowed in fiction; the Brighton underworld is particularly authentically presented. It is all very satisfying.
Go on and get this. Walk on the wild side a little. You know you want to.

Only just came out and I've already read it multiple times. Love it. I'm a sucker for the broody type but the backstory has to be there to explain why he's broody - otherwise it just comes across as a stroppy teenager. There is plenty of backstory here and the characters are spot on. Looking forward to the next in series already, though from the sneak peek I'm not sure that Rowan is as much my type as Silas is...we'll see.

A few days ago, I posted in a FB group I’m apart off about my reading struggles this month and an author asked me to give her book a go.

The author was Tilly and she asked me to read her book to prove that KU titles weren’t all bad.

It’s a fighter romance, which is a trope that I’m not usually a fan off, but I’m so glad I gave this a try.

The first in the series of the Brighton Bad Boys series, it follows Silas and Grace on their journey to love and self discovery.

There’s not a massive focus on the actual fighting itself, which is maybe why I enjoyed it. iInstead the author allows the main characters to spend time together, getting to know each other, building a connection that doesn’t just revolve around sex.

Silas is brooding but so sweet and sensitive, you’d struggle not to root for him.

By the end of the book, they’ve spent around a month together, but it’s believable that Grace would come back to him.

The sex scenes are good, there’s a good amount of them without it being to much and wanting to skip pages.

The only annoyance I found with it, is the dual POV. I have no problem with dual POV usually, but this author was switching between the characters constantly throughout each chapters. It would have flowed better if whole chapters were dedicated to just one of them at a time.

On the whole though it was enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to start the next one in the series.

Grace arrives in Brighton with a list inspired by her deceased mother’s memories of growing up in the area. Her room is gone and there are none available anywhere nearby during the Brighton Festival. Sheena, the head of housekeeping at her planned hotel, senses a lost soul and offers the use of her son’s room for the night. Silas works the night shift as a bouncer at a club but also has been making a name for himself (and money to settle old debts) on the (illegal) fight circuit. Sizzling chemistry when Grace and Silas meet, coupled with a deeper sense of mutual understanding and feeling of home, draw these two lost souls together.

Illegal fights for mafia types aside, Silas was not an irredeemable bad boy. He’d been emotionally scarred in the past (no specifics or spoilers here) and was doing what he could to make a better life for his mother and himself. At his core, he was sweet and thoughtful - a lovely new book boyfriend. Grace, grappling with her grief and trying to find a new direction since her mother’s passing, was the kind of strong and intelligent female lead I love. Tilly Delane, the nom de plume of an established YA author (in the author’s bio) is obviously a gifted writer and I predict this foray into a more adult genre will be a big success. Looking forward to reading the next books in this series.

Heavy, but Delicious

You ever had a dark chocolate cake that was the best thing your tongue has ever encountered, but after a bite or three you realize it's too much and you need to step away, drink some water and eat something fresh and light before you can come back for a few more tantalizing bites?
If books were cakes, that is exactly the type of cake Silas would be.
This was a wonderful, intense romance with characters who grow on you even when you don't eant them to. Heck, even when they are only on page for like the briefest of brief moments (Cinderella and Leon will forever have my heart) they are amazing. While the instant, high octane attraction and lust between Grace and Silas wasn't really my kind of thing, it was the slow ascent of that lust into love and the incredibly intense backdrop of the underground fight scene that kept me coming back for another nibble until I flipped to The End.
Thanks to the author for this heavy, but delicious, read!

What did I think?

Firstly this isn't my go-to book and I never really read books based in the UK (I don't know why) but I'm so glad I've started this story. Tilly Delane is an excellent writer who has created a world full of real, honest and seriously gritty characters. This is no cookie cutter story and she wants you to know it!

I loved every minute of this book. I pretty much devoured it over three days.

Silas is my favorite brooding bad boy with a naughty mouth and dark thoughts. As soon as he meets Grace it's obvious from the start that the two are meant for each other (trying not to give spoilers) these two have an instant attraction. You almost feel both of their histories entwining together and I felt that they needed each other to heal those old wounds.

I could talk about this book all day but what I will say is that I'm going to be reading the rest of the series. I NEED to know where this is going. Just as much as Silas needs Grace.

A love story where both characters have interesting back stories, but I promise no spoilers :) It was great to read a book with character depth and interesting side characters. The book is a dual first person POV and I loved how the different POV went from American (Grace) and British (Silas). This book also has a HEA!

While there are tender moments between the characters, their story is deep. They have an instant draw to one another and you can feel their emotional connection. I do wish we got more scenes of them exploring the city, but overall this was a great read!

Looking forward to Rowan's book.

I liked this steamy story of Silas and Grace. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the first-person narrative at first, but as I got into it, everything fell right into place. There are elements of humor, danger, and an electrifying romance that slowly builds. Silas' personality reminded me of a sexy Ignatius Reilly. The characters are well developed, and the story is good. Personally, I loved the graphic sex scenes, but this story is good enough that there could be a cleaned-up version that would be appealing to younger audiences as well. It gets 5 stars from me.

This book had me hooked right from the start. The writing style sucks you right in as it bounces quickly between the two characters. It entices you to keep reading to find out what happens next.
Silas is just so dreamy. Even though he's dark and damaged, he takes things slow and makes sure he and Grace are both ready for what they are getting into.
Such a good story, and I'm excited to read more by this author.

This is my first read by Tilly Delane and it did not disappoint! Silas from Brighton, the hero who is wounded in more ways than one, meets his match outside of the local fight ring in the American heroine Grace. Watching their love grow while uncovering the threads of Silas's dark family past was sweet yet also pretty steamy. The majority of the story being set in Brighton, England was a treat, giving unfamiliar readers glimpses into the seaside city. All in all, a great book!

Good read

This is my first read by this author and is my honest review. I want to start off that I am not a fan of first person narratives. With that being said, this book kept me reading it passed the first couple chapters, which is a miracle. The story flowed well and the characters…well, they were wonderfully brought together. This book took me just over two hours to read and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Well done!

You gotta love a broken hero, but his reasons for being so are so relatable, and like nothing I've ever read to date! Thank you Tilly Delane for creating a story around a subject very rarely discussed and heartwarmingly brought to fruition! Can't wait to get started on the remainder of this series!

A raw, emotional story, very well written and well crafted. I adored these real characters - all of them, not just the two MCs. The descriptions of the locations took me there - a trip down memory lane for me having spent much of my working life in and around Brighton & Hove. Tilly Delane is a wonderful author and I will be looking out for Rowan and Diego

Engaging story, all the feels!

I loved these characters. Not many stories can grab you from the beginning and make you connect with every bit until the very end. I'll be checking out Rowan's story next and I'm looking forward to book 3 with Diego's story.

Brilliant

Loved this story and the two different cultures coming together. Loved the rawness of Silas's character and the hope Grace seemed to exude. The chemistry between them fired on all cylinders from the get go. Can't wait to read more about Rowan.

Read it

I find most romance novels to be absolutely cringeworthy, and can never finish them. Tilly is an absolutely astonishing author and I enjoyed her writing. Even if you hate romance novels I would highly recommend you give her books a try.

Really loved this read. Good story and deep characters and amazing discriptions! Plus as an American living in the UK for the last ten years I loved all the touches like not knowing what HP sauce was! Haha

Great read

Loved reading this, Grace travels to England after her mum does and it doesn't go according to her plan. Sheena takes her into her home and that's where she meets Silas. This story really pulls you in and I'm definitely going to look up more from the author.

DNF!

I tried to read this but it just wasn't working for me at all. It's a insta- love trope which I don't care for either. The story is also weak. Not for me!

The first in an AMAZING series which captures the town of Brighton so beautifully with an edgy side with illegally arrange fights and crime that must be solved between the three fighters and their three daring women by their side with the perfect amount of smut to keep the tension between their developing romance.
