The Oracles of Our Stars: A Poetry Book

Rate this book
"Before we knew each other,
we knew each other,
we didn't speak to one another,
yet we spoke to one another,
we hadn't met
but we had known each other this whole time
and in our start we completed each other
with the void that was meant
for each other our whole lives".

The Oracles of Our Stars is a poetic book about the fate of all true lovers; it ultimately points to that love which goes out to find us when we are not looking for it.

This is a poetry book about love. Some of the poetries are religious and some of them are an inspiration.

Do not lose your heart nor your soul
For the hardened world will be gone tomorrow

Thanks to Xpresso Book Tours and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read The Oracles of Our Stars by Serge Elie Seropian in exchange for an honest review.

What’s in the stars for you?

Definitely judged this book by its cover. I thought it was going to be a long read with lots of whimsical aspects to it; astrology and such. It was so much more than that.

Love, Fate, & Spirituality. What’s in the stars for you? This made me think of how there’s so many people in the world who are compatible for you. However, when you’re at a certain place in life, what you’ve experienced in life, and what you’re hoping for in your future also depends on the other persons life as well with who you end up with. So your soulmate might not be the person you live to grow old with. One act or decision can not only alter your life but many others. It’s pretty wild to think about.

Do not speed through this book. This one deserves to be read through with an open mind and heart. You need to allow these passages to penetrate your inner being. This book will leave an impression on you; albeit different from the next person, but perhaps not. I read this on my kindle & highlighted away. I need a hard copy.

DISCLOSURE: Thank you to Goodreads for gifting me with a copy of The Oracle of Our Stars: An Inspirational Poetry Book about Love and Spirituality through the Goodreads Giveaways. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Un poemario que resultó ser diferente a lo que pensaba. Con muchas frase y párrafos que me tocaron y me hicieron reflexionar bastante sobre el sentido de mí existencia. Lectura ideal para leerlo con tranquilidad.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.

Ultimately, I decided that this book was not for me. I just didn't like the poetry. I wish there was more to say about that.

The "stars" in "The Oracles of Our Stars" are the ones in the eyes of a young couple. Apparently they've been very close, but they separate. So, like Tanya Mills' "Worthless," this is a losing love story. Like Mills, Seropian has an impressive talent for expressing the feelings of people who have noble ideals and fall short of them..

Before girls go to college they should be aware of the kind of guys whose notion of spiritual love includes exploiting girls' bodies and moving quickly away. Spiritual love, friendship, brother-sister love between people who are not ready for marriage, are beautiful things that should never be sullied by any carnalities like extended hand-holding. Guys like Seropian's speaking characters are the cause of the depression of girls like Mills' speaking characters. They also cause unwanted pregnancies and STDs.

I think this book would have been better written after the author had studied authors like C.S. Lewis and Elisabeth Elliot. However, considered strictly as free-verse poetry, it's well written and charming. :Love of friends, love of country, love of humanity, and love of God are discussed as often as the love of the girl the speaker abandoned, in a voice that sometimes seems merely earnest but usually seems lucid and insightful. It's not for the starry-eyed, but it's a heart-warming read for mature people who are or were happily married.

I smiled at the fatuity of lines like "if you are not insane you are not in love," but then again I felt moved by "Lebanon will rise with love in its heart." If you are ready for meditations on how a nation might rise with love in its heart, this book is for you.

The "Oracles of our Stars" is an amazing poetry book that speaks right to your heart. Each poem portrays from a different perspective the wisdom that springs out of love. They embody various precious life lessons that awaken in your heart the desire to 'filter' your whole living through the "strainer" of love. The lines of each poem are so rich in beautiful, valuable content that you ought to meditate a while in order to grasp their beauty. You will definitely feel encouraged to love yourself more, to love others without waiting for something in return. You will learn that you really are a special person despite your flaws. You will understand why you experience pain. You will be encouraged to cherish not only good memories but also painful ones, to understand the depths of both loving the one near you and being loved, to not judge your own worth based on what people say and do not embrace revenge as a tool for doing justice when someone hurts you.

I read a part of the poems while struggling to understand some circumstances life got me into and I felt refreshed, encouraged and ready to move one. I recommend the book with great pleasure being confident that its poems will manage to lift your spirit whenever you feel down, drained of any trace of hope, love and compassion, or simply when you want to contemplate the beauty of love.

This is a collection of Christian poetry. When I requested an ARC on NetGalley, it was only labeled as poetry - and Goodreads listed it as poetry and spirituality.

It is 75% Christian-focused. If that's what you're looking for, you may enjoy the poems. Many of them read like Bible passages.

As a non-Christian, I didn't connect to this collection at all. Out of respect for the fact I requested the book, I won't place a rating on this review. However, it needs to be recategorized for sure!

Thank you to the author for my free copy of his work.

I thoroughly enjoyed these. Many spoke to me and where I currently feel my life to be. Some of the more religious ones were a little drawn out in my opinion. I felt like I had to reread them to get a grasp on what the author was trying to say.

Otherwise, Seropian has a beautiful way of speaking and I look forward to seeing more work from him.

One of the amazing poetry books I’ve ever read!
The book is quite inspiring and gives a hope. The book is so much more than I expected it to be and I don’t think I could make justice to this book in a few words. There are a few poems that actually gave me chills and are soooo good! The book is more than I expected it to be!

i definitely think I'm just not the target audience for this book - its platitudes and cliches and broad generalizations about love did not strike a chord with me and i struggled to find sections that were meaningful to me personally. but I think that this book will really work for anyone who likes deep, spiritual or lyrical instagram-style poetry.

This book of poetry is incredible. It’s moving, it’s deeply spiritual, it’s connecting. The way Seropian uses words to describe feelings of love, spirituality, The Divine, human nature and so many other themes left me breathless. It spoke to my soul on a deeper level and I am a better person for reading it.

Spiritual and inspiring. A book about true love written in words that connect true lovers wherever they find themselves through the Divine and through the journey of life itself. How faith and hope open doors to love even when one is not searching for it. A fine work by Seropian who expresses love both in a spiritual context and as a human emotion.

I enjoyed reading this poetry book from the first page to the last. Every page contains a beautiful message about different aspects of love that can be applied to our lives daily. I read this book for the first time about a year ago, and many of the verses are still on my mind. It is hard not to be influenced emotionally to some degree by this book.

What a gem of a poetry book this is! As the blurb says - it is a ‘elevation of the soul’ . It’s so beautifully written and thought provoking too. A variety of poetry about love, wisdom and despair , written in an enticing and encapsulating way that truly makes your soul smile. A soul - seekers treasure!

I found the language of the poetry to be stagnant and uninspired. The poems almost felt like I was reading someone's journal prompts rather than well-honed craft. There were some interesting lines that were rather thought-provoking but overall, I didn't find that the poems really spoke to me as a whole. Perhaps an older audience steeped in church culture and tradition would enjoy this book far more but it just wasn't it for me.

Received it as an ARC via Netgalley from Serge Seropian in exchange for a review.

It’s been a nice read. I liked a lot of the poems within the collection. Just a few didn’t really click with me. But that’s okay. Poetry is really personal. So, yeah. It was alright.

Some parts connected easily with me and other parts became treasured by its hidden meanings that connected to me personally. A great collection that gives you different views of love and connects for your personal love to a worldly love and seeing the big picture.

I don't remember why I never wrote a review for this. I read it back when I got a copy of the ebook. It's a very good poetry collection. I still think about it a few years later now. I may even reread it this year. I enjoyed the spirituality and grand universe views expressed here.

Beautiful in wisdom and words

Although this is not the best work of poetry, it makes up in how and why compassion is very important for spiritual growth.

Love loves flaws

Thought provoking. A good reminder how we are all similar yet unique, simple yet complex, whole yet broken. We are loved by all and few.
