Back in my high school days in the late 1960s, I'd used CliffNotes® to help get through my English classes with a decent grade, and not having to read a book like "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens.
Here we are 50 years later, and books that summarize best selling books are increasingly becoming fashion. While CliffNotes® had served quite well as a substitute, summary books like this one serve one of two purposes.
ONE – They serve as a possible inducement to purchase a copy of the actual full-length as they give a decent, somewhat in-depth summary of it, chapter by chapter at a very reasonable price.
TWO – They serve as a marvelous companion to the full-length book, as they summarize chapter by chapter the book's contents, and thereby making sure readers get the message of each chapter, instead of a merely an opinion written by a book reviewer.
The Fourth Turning by authors William Strauss and Neil Howe takes a look at history as occurring in cycles, which according to them contain history's seasonal rhythm of growth, maturation, entropy, and rebirth; which can show
how all of us can prepare, individually and collectively, for America's next rendezvous with destiny. Being the A+ student of history I'd been in high school, I might now consider purchasing the actual book, because of the information contained in this summary, and why I've given this book 5 STARS.

Turning in religion
As a well educated soon, to be octogenarian, and a self-proclaimed theologian, the book summary caused my mind to drift to the pages of Holy Scripture for comparison. I’m not a prophet or the son of a prophet, but I do believe the world is approaching what the Bible calls the end of time. The climatic event in this ultimate “turning” will be Jesus’ return to earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The old order of haven and earth will vanish and a new order with a new heaven and a new earth will be established to never end. Turnings will be concluded forever.

I wanted to know what all the talking about the book THE FOURTH TURNING was about. I could not find the book, but found this summary. It explained it. I now understand what the book is about and will not waste my time on it, thanks to this summary. I know the book (from my 50+ years of understanding history and politics) that THE FOURTH TURNING is flawed and you would be better off reading THE BOOK OF REVELATION in the BIBLE which has a more believable premise than THE FOURTH TURNING book....
